You're misusing the term. You said "vampires and intercourse rarely go together" whereas you should've said "vampires and intercourse rarely go together in some of the books I read".
I never read Rice nor Saberhagen nor Yarbro. But I did read Stoker and I do know about VTM and VTMB which this game is greatly inspired by, I did watch quite a few vampire movies and all of them are full of sex. It's to the point where a lot of writers equate vampires with an STD metaphor or homosexuality since they're so infused with sexual tones.
That's besides the point, anyway. Debating vampires as a genre is stupid since this is a porn game.
This is NOT a porn game. There is one instance of sex so far. There is the POSSIBILITY if you play correctly, which you will if you have to back up and re choose a dozen times, of having at least one more sex session. Everyone seems to assume it will be Sharon, but I am not 100% sure.
Vampire movies with sex.......other than some anime I am drawing a blank. Interview with a Vampire... no sex( a lot of all modern vampire "stuff" comes through Ann Rice's novels and this movie. Queen of the Damned.. explicitly showed sensualism and blood sharing, no sex.. (Ann Rice). Blade-born a Dhampir, but that was pre movie... Lots of kung fu stuff, guns, swords.... no sex. Underworld does not have a basis for this, as it links vampires and were wolves as being genetically of the same bloodline with a split, and they are procreated that way, or created, by spreading the viral infection through the bite for both Lycans and Vampires...Twighlight... glowing shitty vampire fluff, move on and stake and kill Edward. Vampire Diaries... Vampires as a back drop to typical cable soft core...again, fuck those guys.... Vampire the Masquerade, while sex is possible and used as a means of blood bonding (vampires have exactly 2 things going on in their body, vitae and saliva carrying vitae so when they cum, it is blood, both male and female), sharing blood more directly is the actual sensual act between vampires and any of their loves.
Vampires are sensual for sure. Oozing sex appeal for some clans and bloodlines... Their pleasure though, and our MC has found this out, is in the blood.
Then what was the damn point of even going to them????? To get some kinda answer! He name dropped calisto his friggin sire. So What would it hurt to talk about the face he seen in the water? Also the vision girl. They as far as we know they have nothing to do with his lineage. Just a bunch of wild speculation that gets thrown around in this thread. A lot of which has been disproven. He could mention more about those two but not give any more info then needed. The one skald would obviously not even believe anything he said anyway. Yes I know you would argue that we learned about the name inanna.....but that's it. I check in on this thread once a week. Yes I've seen a lot of the lineage, lore and theories posted here. Like I said a lot disproven some close to being proven. ALL I'm saying is that in this case I don't think it would have been bad to try and get a little more INFORMATION from the skalds when given a damn opportunity to learn something. Especially if you are willing to go ahead and name drop your friggin sire to these guys!
The MC did not say, hey what about my vamp mommy Calisto who heads up the Temple. He said he has visions, and he asked about the Temple and about the name Calisto, which the elder Skald side stepped.
As for Inanna, that is important. I am sorry if you are not seeing it that way, but it does a number of things, even if you do not agree. I truly wish you guys would put things under spoilers for at least the week after the update drops to give folks a chance to experience it themselves without seeing plot points sprayed around here.
As for the accuracy of the theory crafting, sure a lot of it goes awry, but that is the fun of it all. Discussing it. I would point out it has gotten more accurate as we progress however.
What we have on here are some folks that want a porn novel, or they want Blade or Underworld, and then we have another group that wants a more VtM feel of politics and intrigue, lore, and even some insidious horror without a name on it.
This novel can not really please all sets of groups at the same time, and it is not being presented as the first two types thus far. So we have some angry posts. These are totally within the right of the poster to express. I myself have been highly critical of some other games, mostly by Dr. Pinkcake and ICSTOR, to the point that I was temporarily banned from those forums. (booze was usually involved in those posts if I am being honest)
As I am not one of the authors, nor as far as I know, are either of them lurking under other names here, we all just have to agree to disagree on certain points, and either enjoy the novel for what it is, or do not. I am hoping for the former.
