Really sad... I don't get it, why devs with high potential and skills tend to not complete a game.

I mean this was perfect. CG's, Animations, Music (i normally turn the music off, here it would be a sin to do that) and even the story with a little mistery was top. Dev would literally swim in money in 1-2 years if he had the continuity.

Best example is NLT Media. Guy started from zero and today he have a professional team and makes money like crazy...

Maybe he comes back. Hope dies last

He was going for 2+ years already, it was never going to "swim in money" because it just wasn't that good outside of the top notch renders, what he was earning is what the game deserved or maybe just a bit less.
The story wasn't good, and all the secrets were just annoying and going nowhere, the milfs while gorgeous and extremely attractive didn't really have that much going for them in terms of character/personality/etc, I didn't really care about them outside of just wanting to gape their holes.

Nlt media is consistent as fuck and has been delivering content and finishing projects since he started, building up his reputation with finished games. This dude was going at a snail pace, together with the other problems I dont see how things were going to change, and he arrived at the same conclusion.

And that's the key...consistency.

It's like in real life. You have ups and downs in your career as a dev. Sometimes you can have several months without gaining new supporters, even when you deliver updates regularly. But you have to go through these dark days to see the sunlight again.
There will be better months, where you gain dozen of new supporters.

And that's how you build a player/fanbase imo.

Rome wasn't built in a day...

You are overestimating the overall quality of the game (excluding the renders), but yeah if he was consistent and actually delivered content he could have done much better, from what is there you wouldn't the game is 2+ yo already.
Still wouldn't be a top earner, at least not with this game, maybe with his next one with a new story/other characters. But nothing of that matters, projects dead.

are you saying that nlt games are top in overall quality?
lets not be kidding here:BootyTime:

regarding "overall game quality" this game, with all its flaws, is above any of nlt media games.
which isnt that hard considering how dumb and copy/paste those games for overgrown kids and proper kids are...:KEK:

as in real life, one mostly needs a luck (with a few other things ofc).
there are hardworking devs providing regular updates of decent games for years, yet their support is minimal.
on the other hand, there are some scum-masters having huge undeserved support for posting wallpapers/previews here and there.
life is unfair, and there is absolutely no guarantee that pushing through obstacles day after a day while crawling in a dark and gloomy shadows will result in reaching some light at the end.
one needs a real passion and huge determination to take that road and reach its end regardless of anything else.

I don't think Lefrench ever said he quit because of lack of supporters did he? and he didn't even quit. some random IRL shit happened and he is terrible at communicating to his followers. This has pretty much always been the case since this games inception

Yeah I don't think so. He said he didn't need money and that we can donate to breast cancer fundation instead. But he also said he would reevaluate the project after a year to continue or not.

Lefrench most definitely should've had more support than this. Supporting them was money well spent I just wish others jumped on board.

He did say repeatedly that money was an issue and he would think about abandoning the project/ if it was worth continuing. He said so two times that I remember

Happy 1 year anniversary to the cast of Red Lucy. An amazing year all around, I constantly kept thriving for better in every aspect and still continue to do so. I realize what I do today is leaps apart from what I introduced in the initial release.
Looked for help where I couldn't get better, met lots of new friends... I came from nowhere and just started doing 3D art one day for no reason in particular so it means a lot!
I wanted to thank you all for the support you've given me and cheers for many more friends to meet!
Unfortunately it's only a half celebration, I started this passion project with the mindset of working how I feel like it and adjust after first year accordingly. But after reviewing the year summary, it's not looking too bright. I'm lagging behind all my peers financially by a large margin, many distribution platforms are closed shut for me for reasons you probably all know.
This project's only support is from you guys, here on Patreon, and it's very limited. Developing this passion project has become insanely expensive on my own. It's bleeding me dry and I'm way past my safety net.
Personally, I feel fine, I keep working like always and live off very little.
But technically it's worrying... If any of my 2 GPUs or other expensive hardware goes toast someday then the project stops right there, as I have no means to replace it.
So, as a creator, nothing changes. Project goes on as usual and much faster while still not sacrificing my graphic standards. Very excited to see this story unfold and many more lewdness to set up.
As a developer, I'll shift my stance toward a more aggressive marketing and attitude. The +3 months leeway I used to give members who leave is no more in effect. Website access will be cleaned very often, starting today. Also I'm all for piracy so eventually everyone plays it but the speed at which I've seen leaks come out (25min) is absurdly un-proportional to my current status. This is the kind of leaking I've seen on other projects' I can only dream to compare to. On someone as tiny as me, it's a death sentence.

Anyway, half-celebration but still very very veryyy happy!
Thank you everyone, see you soon
And sorry in advance if I may appear cold sometimes due to my change of attitude. It hurts me first. It's not who I am.

He thought he was spending too much time and resources on a project that was giving him no real return and that didn't really change much since that comment. As I said the story/characters were not even close to being interesting enough to carry the game with so little actual content and sex scenes.
If he had taken the nlt approach of dumbing everything down but delivering more content + sex he would have done better. But that would require being consistent, maybe he should have sacrificied a bit of his "Graphic standards" to deliver more content and not take so much time. Meh, a waste either way, the only character I will miss is the sister.

I don't think he would have had to dumb it down to NLT standards, he just planned it out poorly. Lots of quality games thrive the devs just have to know their limits and what they can and can't do. and a little luck helps to. Also what will make their game more marketable, IE making it so you need to get the game directly from the website was done to keep the incest element blatant. I don't think that was a great idea if you want the game on steam or something. I'm saying all this from a business perspective. as an artist and hobbyist he can do whatever he wants and should be proud of that fact. But IMO it was just alot of poor planning

That probably all just boils down to just how little there was for each update that still had long-ass dev times relative to the content. It's like spending an hour on the toilet only for a rabbit-sized poop to come out.

People will give money to a lot of things if the renders are amazing. There's also just not a high bar set for VNs. There are maybe a handful of VNs that are actually written well. Everything else is just people glossing over the bad writing due to updates coming out in a timely manner and content being relative to the time waited. Although, I'm not saying there aren't people who point out the bs from the outset. It's just those types are probably better off just reading a fucking book or something if their standards are that high. It's porn games, guys. Barely passable writing is the standard. Just pick the characters you like and hope to God the dev doesn't shaft you by making the ugliest one or one with the worst personality the main focus of the game.

There will always be people pointing out plot holes or parts of the story that are dumb but as long as the dev keeps the updates rolling, most people don't really give a shit. And it's because they don't have 8+ months to twiddle their thumbs and actually think, "Actually, wait. That was actually a pretty lame line." and it just starts rolling down hill like a snowball. It's not really meant to give you time to dissect it because it's just not good writing.

VNs are like going to a fireworks show in the summer. It's bright, loud, and colorful which makes it entertaining enough to distract people from all the other bullshit you have to deal with.

It's "BAM! BOOM! POW! BOOM BOOM POW PEW!"

Not "BAM! (10 minutes later) "... Damn, I keep getting bit my mosquitoes. Traffic's gonna fucking suck on the way home. That drunk, big motherfucker keeps bumping into people on purpose."

(And then after 10 more minutes) "BOOM BOOM BOOM POW BOOM-pay no attention to how long that took idiots keep defending me and giving me money-BOOM BAM BOOM!"

Then you go home thinking how much that shit sucked in retrospect. In Red Lucy's case it was more like waiting every 10 minutes for a
"PEW BOOM PEW".

But full disclosure, I like the writing in Red Lucy. It only got tiring and I stopped paying attention because it'd be like 6 months and the story would have moved like 1 mm. I really don't think all the mystery and the characters not being fleshed out yet would've been problems if all that so far had been like one or two episodes. More like 1 and a half with some exposition in the second half of episode 2.
