I don't know if this is an error but I got to Hypnotoad (cute reference btw) and went with the Mind Control but it went a bit far for what I wanted so I went back to an earlier save and declined the mind control option, but then in the dialogue with Morticia later she references being achy from sex with me (I chose to have sex with her the previous day) an Morty's response thought is "mom did her with the dildo a few hours ago" so even though I did a rollback and by event order the hypno stuff didn't happen, the game still seems to think it did.
Hopefully it won't affect anything else going forward.
It isn't a bug, but I don't know if you'll like the answer either?
This game has three~ish sorts of decisions that come up:
- "Choices" (things like take/don't take birth control) that will be remembered by the game (and can be changed on the Do Over menu)
- "Alternate scenes" often over objectionable content (rape, ntr, etc...), or for pull out/cum inside, that will show a different version of the scene and be remembered by the game (and can sometimes be changed on the Do Over menu)
- "Skips", which have no gameplay effect, but bypass the scene for the player, not the characters. Skips have reminder text about skipping having no gameplay effect (the same as using tab or ctrl to skip through the scenem stead of watching it), and are never shown on the Do Over menu.
In the case of Hypno
tortoisefrog, the option not to take part is a "skip", a player choice not to watch the scene rather than it not to have happened. So, it happens regardless of if you watch it or not within the context of the game.
But why? Why not just bypass it and have the game remember that action?
The short version is, because the
original game by Ferdafs (of which this is a remake/mod/port/whatever), has no alternate scenes. Everything happens in that game, with very (very) little player input, outside of which viewing order. Anything I want different, I have to make... and I'm a programmer, not an arist, making new content is~ challanging for me. This is a big game, I had to choose what content I wanted to spend time on.
In this version, I added many (many) choices, and sometimes new scenes. But I couldn't do it everywhere, and some scenes got more attention than others. Additionally, I was also unsure which scenes might become important in future updates, and had to be careful not to write myself into a corner.
Some scenes, like this one, thus got a "skip" option (due to many factors). So... you can skip it, but it still happened, even if you, the player, didn't watch it. (Although, I think outside of that one mention by Morticia, it isn't brought up again?)
However this one scene has come up a lot throughout this thread. I think because it has a little stinger about the frog escaping, rahter than just cutting to black, which feels like its an "End/Alternate" choice, vs a skip. I've thought about cutting the little bit several times, just to make it more clear that it is a skip... but the frog jumping through the roof still makes me laugh, so I can't bring myself to ax it.
Maybe I will just make it an alternate (it has so little impact, it seems silly), so players are less confused by it... assuming another update ever comes out :x
