You're forgetting a couple of things. For one, it seems quite possible, if not likely, that the MC is his own father, is involved in time travel, and knew he'd need it because he remembers needing it. Two: their relationships, past and present, make no sense without the familial relationships. I'm pretty sure it was altered due to the new patreon policies, and the patch restores the original intent.

Where do you get the "not married" thing from, your ass? It's never stated in the game, they lived together until the father's "death", and were a complete family. Why do you think that they didn't get anything? MC is the youngest kid, and got the safe when he became adult. The father died 10 years before this. Jessica is older. The mother inherited whatever she got a decade ago. The safe was specifically for the MC. That's it.
