cold_arctus pk2000 - I always check for permissions. I've got a couple issues I'm trying to hunt down and I'm new to using Linux. But apparently since I "don't want to learn", it's okay to be rude to me. Not sure which mountain you jumped to get to that conclusions but don't worry- I'm obviously not stupid so I get the message- "linux noobs" need not apply here, We are made not to feel welcome by you 2.

TO EVERYONE IN THIS THREAD- Don't ask for help if you're new to linux. You apparently have to be a programmer to ask for help. I get it. I'm not coming back here. But wasn't this thread built to help guys like me?
Maybe you should get your facts straight first.
- "Shouting" at others that try to help is considered rude behavior, (at least where I live)...
e.g. (marked in red)
pk2000 ... and save UNLIKE 1.62 which does not save. Unfortunately with this particular version, it doesn't show some text in some games BUT AGAIN, it's running and saves....
- and ironic comments like the following (marked in red), when someone tries to help you, is both rude and stupid...
Look.. I'm just throwing things at the wall here to see what sticks. It's one of my better points and I'll do it until the wall falls off. I'm not an expert here. Just a dude who likes some RPG Maker MV games. So sue me!

I understand the one I got to work was an older version.
So yes. To anyone in this thread who wants to act as "I know it all"/"smart-ass" shouldn't expect much help, at least not from me....

There's a solution. But the game works for most players. But seriously. Linux is such a pain. So many complaints about bugs and only 10 people use them. :ROFLMAO:

Other "working" games probably manually updated the nw.js file, but I don't want to risk stability for a very small number of people who are affected by this. The majority of linux users can play the game just fine.

Something not working. Weird errors, people don't know their own linux commands for permissions to run game, etc. I think even file naming was a problem at some point. Spaces? Capitalizations?

It's not something I really care about much. I make a Linux port and it works for the majority, but not gonna fix every bug for every different weird distro especially when I don't use linux myself.

One thing that troubles me, why so many users have to run game with admin permission to allow save on wondows?
Is that because I change the .exe icon?
Because of saving path www/saves?
Or most likely because I dev using older windows 7 version? :BootyTime:

Yeah, this is a big problem. If you use example.png in your code but name the file Example.png it won't work. I often see this "missing img/file.png" post from people who downloaded the compressed version without them knowing that the cruncher tool switches the file's name to lower-case during the crunch process. But people think it is dev's problem without realizing that it is their own fault for playing a crunched/compressed game.

Mmmh... maybe it is the directory where they stored the game for example a different drive with insufficient permissions.

Ok, I tried "My Summer with Mom & Sis" and wasn't able to save using the native Linux RPG Maker MV v1.62.
This is caused by the SavesInLocalData.js plugin. Just deactivate it, in the plugin.js.

No. It happens when they do not have the correct folder permissions.
It can happen when creating a local account linked to their outlook/ms account... other times it happens after a problematic upgrade to a newer 10 version...

It worked after applying the NewData.zip files without deactivating the plugin...
That is normal to happen.
That plugin's old version was not compatible with the rpg_managers.js v1.6.x so you effectivily deactivated it... and you probably have restored the save menu that NTL had deactivated/removed in the original version.:)

Now that you mention it... yes, the save menu came back...

cold_arctus I'm sorry if my standing up for myself earlier made you upset since you've been helping me and I appreciate that.
fidless Don't worry. I've got the Linux version and it runs flawless out of the box. I'm now training some redheaded minx and rotating the girls from from job to studying/training and back and forth so no girl works more than a few days and gets a new grade or skill per week. :D

At least now I'm getting the possible root if the issue may be the savings add-ons not playing nice with various engine versions?? Like we need certain engine versions to run and the save add-on won't play nice with it? Is there even a way to find out if the savings addon can be replaced or not? So if I find a windows version and it runs except it doesn't save, can't I just replace the save add-on with a better version or is that tied to the core engine somehow and switching it would make the engine shit bricks??
I'm now wondering if I would only keep the 1.62 version and maybe a couple extra files if one or 2 things don't work right? Wouldn't that work. It'll be simpler than switching between 2 versions that I do now.

Most of the time I delete all files aside the "www" folder from the games folder and copy over the v1.62 (incl. the NewData.zip files applied) into the games folder.

By doing that the game runs on the updated core files and not on dev's outdated Editor version. Never had any problem with a RPG Maker MV game doing it this way.

trying to run this in Linux Ubuntu 20.10 I copied the www contents and made sure there are no spaces in main dir I opened the main dir with terminal ran the chmod and tried to run "Game.desktop" but it opens in text editor am I missing something I'm sorry I'm sorta new with linux only been on it for maybe a year

Check preferences in nautilus and set "executable text files" to "ask what to do". After you did this a pop-up window with show up when you try to execute "Game.desktop" -> Either "run in Terminal" (to see the game execution) or just "run".

It shouldn't matter to run the game. Missing fonts on the other hand eg. for Japanese games might be a problem.

Nautilus is the standard file manager in Ubuntu.

You don't need Lutris to play RPG Maker MV games on Linux. The games run natively on Linux.
