Slimes are actually people, just amorphic and lazy. They come with different levels of intelligence and concern for others. They are essentially a kind of furry.

Basically this game has next to nothing story wise, just slime escaping from girl and that's it, the joke he is making is that ironically despite this game not focusing on story at all its still a better story that a story driven game. For if you don't know last of us 2 has a lot of hate for some rather questionable story moments. Like killing dozens on a path of revenge only to forgive the revenge target because killing is bad and it would make you no better than them...despite the pile of bodies from those that were between you and the target. And the reason for this bizarre moral twist, feminists wanted a lesbians ship so made the story writer leave the character around for a later game (if it even gets one) as well as didn't want the strong female protagonist to kill another women. So several scenes were rewritten with no care of context to the story. So a lot are bitter about how it turned out after being so invested since the first game, and they compare it to other games that have simple stories and how they are better still. As a this game has next to nothing for story, but at least its not actively bad.

So when you see comments like that this is what's up.
