Actually, tags are supposed to be what the game will feature completely (the way I understood it) or at least that's the idea what should happen, though I understand some developers add them as they go. But no, we were actually open from the start what kind of project this is. It's a story driven game with mature content. In other words, it's not a game for kids, not the kind of VN you'd give your daughter or son to play, but that doesn't mean it's necessarily sex oriented, sex isn't the only mature thing. Of course there can be sexual suggestive things, nudity, romance etc, all that is after all, normal mature content.

And, while patrons are of course nice and allow us to invest into better assets and computer - honestly we do this because we want to, and we want to give it to the players so they can enjoy something we did. We want to see people try it out, see and play what we did. Maybe even advertise it, give it a good word if they liked something. That's the kind of good stuff this all is worth for. ^^

If you're only interested in porn, see the "no sexual content" tags and move on. Several games have been released on this board with no sexual content? Do you go into every one of them and whine about the lack of porn?

I played this for a bit. I must say it's amazing. Great job to the dev for the art and writing. It's made with love and it shows. Since this is one of the "tamest" games on this here site, might I suggest to @AlleyKat to look into publishing this on Steam as an Early Access or something?

If what I want is something "visual" ... there are plenty of excellent movies and animated series ... If I'm here (and I think I speak for most of the users) it's because I'm looking for something "extra" ... something " more spicy "(porn or not)

You certainly are entitled to your opinion. I disagree, though. This game has its place, here. Sure, there isn't porn, but that's why the tags are for. Download and play what you like. This site however cater to many visual novel enthusiasts, I might even go as far as to say that this is the biggest Ren'py community that I know of. There's absolutely nothing wrong with AlleyKat wanting to leverage an existing consumer base to promote her talents.

I'm glad to see the passion in Scarlet Spire, that simple fuck 'em all games tend to lack. I'm as much a pervert as the next but holy shit can some get stale.

This shows that not every story here or anywhere needs porn to drive it but can also just be an interesting story with great visuals.

While most of the games here include various levels of sexual content, this site is dedicated to "adult" games. That refers to games of mature content, too. A game like this one, which has serious overtones and significant story depth, fully qualifies as an adult game without the inclusion of sexual content.

The game is filled with high concept ideas and a provocative story. Assuming you've read the "no sexual content" tag, you should be able to enjoy the tale of itself. You'll have to do both reading and thinking, but you should come out the better for the exploration of it.
