Almost the same, but opposite for me. Well I did see a few games on Newgrounds like the Frank Adventure games and the dating sims. I didn't consider them porn games, rather they were flash games with porn done by hobbyist in my mind at the time. Supercreep was one of the earlier modern(?) indie titles and I wanted it succeed, but nothing never seemed to happen in the development compared to other RPG maker games. I thought it was really scummy at the time, when he was charging money monthly. If he was serious about developing a game, he would just put it on sale, when its finished, was my thoughts. The development was all excuses for years on end, which made me see the entire scene as scammers. For me it was the game, that almost made me give up hope for Western indie porn games.
The game that got me into the genre overall (not just Western) was probably Sengoku Rance. I played the heck out of that game back in the days. I hated the MC, but I really enjoyed the gameplay and was interested in the story. You can do all sorts of crazy stuff in newgame+. Breaking the story or going entirely different ways about it which I thought was fun. I later tried Kamidori Alchemy Meister and saw that there's real potential. How ironic it is in our current times. But I think, ICSTOR is probably one of the guys that got me into Western porn games. He had finished Robot's Touch and was quite a ways into Incest Story (1).
