This game is insanely hard to beat.
You begin to hate it when you have to grind dungeons and get game over to events that come out of nowhere. Pretty enjoyable until then. Kinda pointless to recruit anything except the initial miko too as the best troops are elites from conquered countries (archers are useless in lategame btw).

Haven't been able to push through the battle with northern spy but maybe a tactician with witty turnabout can win it.

Yup, this is true. Honestly there is a "fixed" way of playing this game. You have to do certain things to ensure victory. But because you are never told what those things are your either stumbling around and getting caught off guard. Or you do what other players before you have figured out already.

I would explain but there is honestly too much to condense into one post. It is indeed, hard to beat. The best thing you can do is always start off using the satisfaction points to recruit foreign reinforcements. Those will definitely help you clear dungeons and fight for regions. For the dungeons, if your character gets knocked out it gets replaced by another character until you run out of characters. So if you have either enough characters or strong characters you can beat the dungeons with 1 turn. But dungeons are better left untouched until later so you can level all characters together.

They never tell you this, but at the end you will have a level 99 "dungeon like" boss fight. and if your character isn't high enough level you get fucked on. It's honestly these kind of "gotcha" moments that make this game unnecessarily difficult.

Also.. also.. imo the characters you can get from the center and right side of the map of the map are a lot better than the ones that are on the left side of the map.

If you're talking about the mandatory story fights against the big bad evil guy, if you lose you can retry immediately and the enemy will have a lower level until you can beat it. It's actually one of the few things the game is generous about, you just need to psychically know to not restart when you're about to lose, lol.

Agreed on the left side of the map being by and large weaker for commanders than the right. Mori has Teru who's one of the best ashigaru in the game, but other than her and old man Mori, they're all fairly forgettable.

Yeah, I mean first you got that clan with all the old people, which literally has no good commander. Then you got those gun people, but really they just suck because they only get 1 or 2 action points with shitty stats. Then you have Gon and his waste land crew, and at first they seem to have strength because they all have 2000-3000 troops. But then you recruit them only to find out their stats are just kind or weak or not as good as the commanders already collected. (And when you recruit them they only have like 500-800 troops each).

And then yeah the Mori. I mean, I didn't manage to recruit the old man so I wouldn't know. But the other characters weren't good enough to kick out the commanders I already had. The Takeda tactician is also very good since he comes with lvl 3 boosts.

I made it after several attempts with exactly one turn left lol. You pretty much want to buff all you can out of Kentarou once you get him and use the fire apostle repeating fight to level him up to 80-90 before you kill the dude by selecting Rance.

More time to try out stuff and character slots would have been nice ig. Nice game with frustrating moments.

Does anyone know how to get different endings in the second campaign? I got ending 2 and I have no idea how I did it lol
I have played through several times now looking for different secrets and NG+ bonuses. The toggle between getting Ending 1 and Ending 2 is not messing with El Mofus through merges. If her powers are still the same as the beginning you get 1 but if you have subbed in something else you get 2. I have no idea how to get 3 and the clues in the end message don't help.

I sure hope some kind of guide comes out like for the original because there are a number of things I just can't figure out.

For those finding the game too difficult, I'll tell you my own experience to hopefully inspire you to keep plugging away if you are interested in this kind of game. I had never played this or any Rance game prior to downloading it here. My first try I restarted the game at least three times and found it nearly impossible. When I finally got through it and started part 2 I rage quit almost immediately because the difficulty again seemed impossible.

Eventually though I tried a second time using the meagre bonus points earned from my first win to buy a bonus action per turn. I also read the wiki enough to discover some of the really wrong strategies I was using.

It really is a game that gets easier and easier as you continue to play, both because you learn new tricks and strategies and you stack up more bonus points to gain new advantages. I just finished a run today where I beat the base game on the highest difficulty and then rolled into Part 2 which I beat on the second highest difficulty. Neither was all that hard.

Keep in mind you aren't meant to beat lvl 99 xavier on the first play. each time you lose his lvl lowers by 10 until you can beat him. for the other endings you need the character routes. Isoroko Yamamoto's route is partially canon. you can find the guides for the extra routes on the wiki

...How is the translation 4 times the size of the game itself?
And in what order do you extract these to not break anything?

The fan translation thing in OP is a fan made mod that continues after you beat the original game. Just download the game and update if you only want the official game

Tho the links in first post in this thread are for older version of the mod. OP should probably change it to link it to my thread, instead of posting links to mirrors, because there are planned future updates.
