Just finished playing SexNote again all the way through, was kinda miffed that my old save did not work. But it is understandable because Jamliz and helper changed up a bunch of stuff storyline wise. IMHO it works better for me, the mini-game itself was frustrating to begin with but I got used to it. 3 errors I saw while playing, 2nd visit to mike's house before going to the bathroom there was a message saying an image was missing, and I do not remember where else it happened again. 3 rd error was Anon image overlapping Hinn image in her house, I do not remember when. Overall all it was an O.K. update, I can see all the work that went into improve it. There are still some grammar errors and misspellings but not so bad as to make me pull out my hair. Graphically it is Very Very Good along with the animations. (Suggest to Jamliz and helper to add a "slower" button to the choices during animations) I givz itz a 8.5 outta 10 so far.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

It's very kind of you to go out of your way to address our feedback here, but you don't need to go far to find out what the best course of action is. After all, listening to just opinions here may at best give you 1/10 of the entire image. Right now only specific group of people has become attracted to your game whom share 3 characteristics at this point:

*They don't like that you can't reuse old saves
*They don't like the fact that there is not much hardcore content
*They became upset at the puzzle

What does it tell you? That all of the people who became attracted to your product and downloaded it here did it to...to put it bluntly...rub one quickly out. However bad it sounds, most of the people don't consider this game anything great(maybe even at the level of forgetting it couple days later)...which is normal! It's not a big game for now at least.

So what does this objectively mean? Your game is A) Nice to the eye B) User-friendly - it doesn't repel most casual audience here C) It gives good first impression

But there is nothing more than that. To learn implications further you need to look at other big games that currently have wider audience like SummertimeSaga, Milfy City, Four Elements Trainer etc etc. Let's take first for example - people there don't complain at the fact that they can't reuse old saves(on a bigger scale)...Why? Because they like the game to the point where they don't mind wasting away extra hours. But why do they like the game? Is it because SS exceptionally good? No! Most of these people simply got used to it while the game was still very novel and standing out in the market(There are other games that are simply better yet due to bad decisions early on didn't manage to stand out enough) The Dev then came up with the myriad of reasons why they can't make old saves work resulting in people having to replay game everytime(which in result made them feel that every update was super big despite them being actually not that big, what a devil!)

So what does this first point tell us? If you don't want to constantly worry about health of your project your game must either leave big enough impression early for people to not mind replaying it or the *replayability* of the game must be increased. Unfortunately increasing replayability of the renpy game is rather stupid task, so the best shot will always be trying to leave lasting impression on your potential audience so that they don't forget about your game right away.

Porn is very simple field, craft storyline, make it spicy, put some suspense here and there and make people interested. The most common mistake devs do here that I also noticed is trying to flesh out the game first before releasing hardcore content - terrible mistake unless you don't wanna earn more cash and stay where you are. One must understand that people use porn to jack off and jacking off to handjob or other mild content won't be satisfactory enough for most people.

Focus on one storyline - making it awesome enough for people to anticipate another similar update - repeat. Also, if you get one storyline to a decent point from scratch and then start another one you won't have to worry about introducing save compatibility anytime soon. Brilliant, is it not?

Next, don't think about hard methods to make every update play longer. Minigames are nice addition - but only if everything else that is actually relevant is in check. What most devs do is introducing something like money so that player needs to think about something else other the thing in his hand, which is logical and easy - it doesn't make people who come here to rub one out quickly annoyed at least, and leave it at that.

Substance, substance, substance! If you see a guy writing "omg waited 2 months for 30 minutes worth of content". Ignore the fucker, he is a trap. The dude will leave, you will never see him again but instead he will pull you to think that you should do whatever it takes to increase the length of next update. Then it will lead to artificially making it longer - MISTAKE! Of course, releasing 5 minute long update isn't good either, no pain no gain!

Instead of trying to be overly ambitious, it will definitely pay out better to focus on key areas until you can afford attention to other things and when the audience grows big enough to appreciate it.

So...make it short, make it hot for a simple B0b to understand but don't make it cheap(Quality of art and dialogues comes there).

Since I've written this much already I may also add another observation of mine - (free of charge too!) - manipulate the version number wisely, people will get more attracted to version numbers like 0.8 1.0 etc(some cheeky bastards took advantage off it and got burned too!). Be aware that once you release around 7-8 updates there will be a rise of people interested to try out your game especially given that art looks very good and it will be *extremely* crucial to hook as many of those people as possible. If you can manipulate version cleverly until you will feel ready that game is ready to take it head on then great.

As a closing note, more of a personal remark - when it comes to sex scenes specifically, their arrangement, details etc, my best advise for you is to check out trends on fakku and what most popular artists do here. There are some common points in every work that you can easily take advantage of to more easily appeal to potential patrons.

From the top of my head: Vanilla vanilla vanilla...you will crash once you step into ntr. Vanilla is king right now friend, I am not saying this because I like it myself, quite the opposite in fact, it's insipid, but it's true that 70% of the perverts out here prefer vanilla content.

Corruption - making your characters progress in any way will make people more invested. From there you can branch out to various fetishes, incest etc. If you don't want for your game to feel cheap, you need to plan this very carefully! In this regard, you probly should take example of games like TaffyTales or some of Icstor's games. Key words moral conflict, degeneration, various taboos, going from one extreme to another.

Of course you don't need to worry about MC having to follow on every storyline and coding hundreds of scenarios, just be clever with dialogues. Seperate storylines cleverly.

...just remember that purpose of this kind of game isn't to blueball people(I am looking at you Mr. Dots). Also writing is equally important as art in the game. Some dudes out there manage to produce humongous results with text based porn games alone...I am sure you can understand what this means.

Hope I was able to relay the message.

Played the game, and it's pretty confusing, first couldn't find garage, took me a while to notice that barely noticeable doors are clickable too. Then the demon says that you need to train magic to get new skill, but in reality you get it only when you passed through main route far enough, the book helps to know what to do next for every girl, but it doesn't show which scenes you should unlock before going for it if they are needed.

Art is good, but after a lot of scenes main hero has his trade mark "tired of life" expression on his face which is killing me

Hey guys! Have you already let off steam? ok, I want to answer to your recommendations, advice and complaints, this update included many new characters, scenarios and locations, with the aim of expanding the world of SexNote and providing more diversity and options for every taste, in addition to adding new stories to expand the gaming experience.

The possibility of using old saves, we had never considered it before (Since the game is in basic development and each version makes significant changes respect to the previous one, not only additional content is added, so handling saved games becomes a bit complex) And so far, in no other previous update, no-one had requested it before (or in this case demanded) that old saved files work on new updates, so it is something we will highly consider for future updates. For now, in this update, there is no new content with the old characters, only with the new ones so if you want you can skip the characters you have already seen and focus on the new ones, they do not require progress with the old ones, So if you don't want to play the minigame, just follow the tasks of the SexNote with the new characters and that's it.

About to the Minigame, this is a first version of the complete mechanics that will be ready for the next update 0.06 that focuses exclusively on SexNote, Brixxida, the world and the magical power, in this you will have the final mechanics of the minigame (which for now, because we are greatly expanding the world of SexNote with new characters, scenarios and scenes, we could not finish). The mechanics of obtaining magical power and the minigame are already planned and will be much more entertaining and rewarding.

In the next update several corrections are planned for the flow of the story with the main characters (Jane, Sue, Kylee and Brixxida) making it more fluid and with less conditions, improving the story and main plot of SexNote and magic. Also, since with the new characters the basis of the entire visual novel is established, in the next update we will add 4 sex animated scenes and some blowjobs (Not just Handjobs) so do not worry about the hot content.

We are not a giant development team, we are just 2 guys, who work everything we can to improve in each update and try to listen to all the recommendations, complaints and advice, the project has practically only 4 months of development, it is logical that in the Progress mistakes are made and there are things to improve, but little by little things will be corrected and a better game will be released. (Please have in mind all the work behind every update and don't be that rude)

For now, we just want to thank the support and understanding of many and ask others for a little patience and tolerance, we listen to all your comments to improve, Thank you!

If you are stuck and need support or help, I will help you in the discord server!:

And if you want to see a specific scene without having to repeat a task or If you want to see the whole game and the scenes without having to make any effort, here is the full gameplay:
My advice to you is never ever do what you did with this update regarding content with the main characters, every update needs content with at least one of them, you can always gradually add side characters content but never skip the main ones, the majority of players want to see the mother and the sister not some random girl and regarding save compatibility if you cant make them work for every update maybe you can implement a cheat system that lets you play the new updates without having to grind hours again from the start, just my two cents.

I do like the whole idea, tho, it really is kinda too grindy. And it would be great to add info about ,,that's all for current version" for all characters. I like characters behavior and I'm looking forward to see future versions.

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

Perhaps for the lack of hardcore content, but clearly not for the not compatible saves. In fact this complaint tend to say the exact opposite ; people feel invested and don't want to loose the progress they made so far after having weighted their choice.

Let's take first for example - people there don't complain at the fact that they can't reuse old saves(on a bigger scale)...Why? Because they like the game to the point [...]
Always thought that it was because Summertime saga offer you the possibility to skip to the start of the update, and because the dev provide his own save.
Yet, the team is trying hard to make the game save compatible ; which will probably still need few updates. There's a reason behind this...

The most common mistake devs do here that I also noticed is trying to flesh out the game first before releasing hardcore content - terrible mistake unless you don't wanna earn more cash and stay where you are.
So, why one of the most loved game, The DeLuca Family, have zero hardcore content and just few nudity, not even frontal ? Same for Heavy five, where the only sex scene actually available should be avoided for the faith of Annie.
And they are not the only ones, few in the recent (one and half year or less) top games had early sexual content. Which didn't prevented them to reach the top and be loved by the players.
At the opposite, games that jump on the porn from the start tend to have a smallest base of fans. They are "play and forget" games that don't generate discussion, nor interest. Players are happy to have their dose, then they forget about the game until the next update.

One must understand that people use porn to jack off and jacking off to handjob or other mild content won't be satisfactory enough for most people.
Talk for you. Most of the people jack off to movies, not to games ; that's what the polls on the meta section of the forum show.

Focus on one storyline - making it awesome enough for people to anticipate another similar update - repeat.
For this kind of game, it's the worse possible advice. It will lead to updates that feel empty and are boring, because the player will have to pass the time too often, waiting for the next event on this story line.
It take time to build a fan base, and this game have the potential for this. The CG are good and visually pleasant, the writing isn't bad and the game mechanism stable and interesting. But the problem here is that it's the kind of game that worth playing only after a full year of monthly updates, where there's effectively enough content at all in-game time, to not have to wait for it.
Therefore, it need more time to build the said fan base.

Also, if you get one storyline to a decent point from scratch and then start another one you won't have to worry about introducing save compatibility anytime soon. Brilliant, is it not?
Stupid, since it's not the reason behind the incompatibility of the saves.

Since I've written this much already I may also add another observation of mine - (free of charge too!) - manipulate the version number wisely, people will get more attracted to version numbers like 0.8 1.0 etc(some cheeky bastards took advantage off it and got burned too!).
Well, in fact it's probably this one that is the worse possible advice.
Players aren't stupids, they have a brain and a memory. Try to trick them with this kind of move, and you'll loose half of your base, never seeing them again. As for the new players attracted by the high number of the version, they'll see a game way too empty for the claimed version, and them also will not come back again.

If you don't want for your game to feel cheap, you need to plan this very carefully! In this regard, you probly should take example of games like TaffyTales or some of Icstor's games.
If Icstor is your reference for good games, I understand better why your wrote all this. And it lead to a question that Jamliz have to ask to himself : Did he want to make money fast, releasing cheap bankable games, or did he want to release games that will effectively please the players, but take more times to lead to a decent earning ?

The option to use "Agamoto's eye" does not appear, the magic power level bar is at maximum. With that, I can't see the scenes with Sue or Kyle, both with 100's of affection. Any tips? I know there are no new scenes for the three women in the house, but the scenes from the previous version should happen, no?

You have to progress with your family members and only then will the little imp-thing give you the magic upgrades.

A short text should be added to the imp's dialogue to let the player know when they've trained enough for the next upgrade.

The developers always do this, they know what the people want and other developers have already set precedent on how long you can milk the game before players get upset. With each subsequent new dev they are always trying stretch it that little bit longer each time before giving the players what they want, they might want to switch to just releasing and charging for a full game. Otherwise i feel this patreon model is far to exploitative and people will lose trust.

On a further note related to my comment, when will devs learn a healthy balance between grind and reward? Do the devs play test and put themselves in the players shoes just to see if the grind is over the top? You need to reward the grind accordingly otherwise cant we just go back to the real world for constant frustration.
