The game has a rollback feature. Just go back when you have a game over.
People need to accept that the dev here is iconoclastic. He breaks the fourth wall all the time, has game-overs that you can't see in advance, employs gore as a humorous topic... that's just the way he is. Roll back and move on.
Once you accept that, and accept the fact that you don't know the right answers until you've tried a few wrong answers, the game is a lot of fun. And the dev delivers regularly because he stays excited about his project because he doesn't feel that there are any walls to hem in his imagination. Not even the walls of storytelling.
I'm just rolling with the punches, enjoying the game for what it is (and not regretting what it isn't) and think you all will enjoy it when you go at it with my mindset.
