Get into combat with her, then runaway, go talk to the redhaired fey and she will help you, there are some tips for scenes in the readme file that comes with the game in the game folder.

For me, step-by-step combat system is a positive feature.
It makes me think without haste.
Just like "Heroes of Might & Magic III" (1999) or "Disciples II" (2002).

If the combat system annoys You, one can ask the developer(s) to implement fast-paced real-time system.
Without the replacing the existing one, of course...
