Gave it another try. Story is great, plot expands greatly but ends up without tying up any loose ends (for now) like I want to see more of the blackmail path or consequences of not submitting it.

This game is dead.
This is one of the best game ever made on Twine, one of the best female MC games ever made, well-written, with a unique plot idea, one of the most promising games I've played.
But this game is dead and buried 2 years ago.

Does WendyTheRed has announced somewhere that she stop the development of this game?
The pace is slow for reasons beyond her control (her mother died, and she is herself sick).
But there was an update in 2024.
So, I'm not sure this game is buried yet.

Honestly, I want you to be right and I'm wrong.
But let's face the facts.
During 2021-2022, Wendythered released 15 updates, covering 90% of what we have now. The last update was v0.30, released November 14, 2022.
Then, a year ago, she released v0.35 (also known as "The Council"), released November 25, 2023.
That update itself was perfect - the story, the dialogue, the scenes - and it completely matched your previous decisions, but... wait, it's over already?!
We'd just arrived in the town, started meeting people, uncovering its secrets, making our way - and now we're at the finish line. Because "The Council" definitely feels like the beginning of the end.
Four months later, she released v0.4, released March 7, 2024. Mostly a bugfix, only two scenes are brand new.
And nothing after that, just some posts on Patreon.
It would be great if she returned to development, and I'm not going to say it's impossible.
By the way, I still have this thread in my Watched.
I just want to say that cluttering this thread with "whenupdate" posts is a waste of time.

So, there are a variety of factors that have significantly slowed down this update. In no particular order:

Both of my parents died within 6 months of each other.
My paternal aunt sued me to get ahold of my father's estate even though it was only $100k and she has millions.
My health both physical and mental took a turn. I don't think it's a stretch to say that the two above events played a huge part in this.
I lost every single save I had due to a browser issue. I've asked for others to send me saves and I do have saves for the stripper and the mayor's PA (maybe, it was sent as long text strings I need to put into a text file and save as a .sav and hope it works). This means I'll need to replay the entire game multiple times to get to a point where I can test my work. This was largely my own fault for not making backups but it was also a blow when I was already feeling down. The only thing that could have been worse would be somehow losing the source code to the game or all of my renders or something.

0.4 did have more than 2 scenes. However, most players only saw the 2 scenes since some of the others depended on prior choices and some replaced each other. IE, you might have a scene with person X while a different player had a scene with person Y.

As far as the beginning of the end. Well, you're right. I had originally planned for the game to be roughly a month's worth of content. However, I made some mistakes at the beginning of the game that have made that difficult. Namely, by making the early game a wide open sandbox it massively complicated things for me later. The sequel, which I will work on after this one is done, will be more focused and likely in Ren'py because a lot of people don't like or prejudge HTML games. It will be more of a VN with a more focused story. Same setting. Some returning characters. New main character. Also new POV voted on by my Patreon supporters. They wanted first person as opposed to this game's second person.

Hi, you really had a terrible time recently. Frankly I don't know what to say, it should be only better now.

I could make some saves for you with 0.4 version. At what moment they should be done?

If it helps, this is a chronological set of saves from my playthrough. Can be loaded with the "Load from Disk" command. Can't remember much details from them, but my MC was working for the mayor and got together with Amber.

Wendy had already explained months ago, in previous comments, what had happened to her family, and that she herself had had blood drawn and had had the flu.

That's why I considered her temporary break from the game fully justified.

Those who follow you for a while know that you have had a very tough time this year.
It's sad that some players can't understand that indie devs are real person and can be hit very hard by real life.
I just hope things will go better for you now.

The moment isn't as important to me as a variety of saves around 0.4. Even if it is earlier in the day during 0.4 it saves me a ton of time.

1 of each job. A TG and non-TG save. Various relationships. Various suspects.

I also had what felt like, at the time, a near death experience! This was a couple of months ago. I got a biopsy to see if I had cancer. (I don't! I do have one of those health issues that boils down to "Grats! You get to take this medicine for the rest of your life!") They told me I might bleed some. Well, I bled A LOT. Like...I called my partner in to where I was because I was so weak feeling I didn't know if I'd be able to get up. They walked in and said, and I quote: "Oh my god! It looks like a crime scene in here!"

There was blood everywhere. I was sweating profusely and also shivering from cold. I barely made it to bed and just sort of collapsed in bed. The second I got vertical I actually started feeling better, probably because it helped blood flow to my head I'd guess. I slept for hours and woke up starving and weak but also feeling a lot better.

In the "You can't make this stuff up" category. I got some saves from a few of you and it really kickstarted my desire to move forward with things. I tried to do some renders. Daz was acting weird and sluggish. I couldn't download new content. So, I went and looked at my drives and what did I see?



So, I'll be asking my family for Amazon giftcards for Christmas so I can get a new SSD for my Daz stuff. *facepalm*
