Elwyn is not one of the main love interests. She will have story scenes where you can get closer to her and learn more of her past as well as a couple of romantic encounters. I do have an ending that involves her.

This option will only present itself if you the player have made similar darker choices before in the game. You also will need to have a more controlling relationship with that LI and she doesn't go along with it immediately. She baulks at the idea and it is not until you manage to convince her through dialogue options that she would go along with it. And this can have negative results afterwards. Its avoidable as well, you have other ways to getting to the same goal, I wanted to add it for players to explore some of the more "the ends justify the means" types of choices. It was just an example and is not written to take place until further in the story where your character would have built up to a choice like that.

This is the kind of coping/rationalizing/justifying shit that really annoys me. Don't insult my intelligence. You do not plan on adding whoring out the LIs so that players can "explore some of the more 'the ends justify the means' choices", that's total BS and you know it. You want to add it either because you yourself are into that or you want to broaden the appeal of the game to people who are. You don't need to proffer up this excuse to us, just nut-up, be a man, and do it, if that's what you want to do. Of course, it won't have the effect you think it will, it will drive away more players than it would ever bring in, but it's your game to ruin and your characters to taint, so you're more than free to make that mistake and live with the consequences of your misguided actions.

Been wanting to try this game for sometime but was waiting for the next update. I glanced at pateron and what I was able to read looks like it might be getting close. I was wondering however is the next update the one planned for the steam release whenever that does happen.

Chapter 3 grew big quickly, with the separate paths and alternate scenes and branching plus the new addition of random encounters I was trying to add. I ended up splitting the update in half. Next week will have the first half and when I release the second part over the summer, that is when I plan to do the steam release. It gives a good cutting off point for the story and the game should have a large amount of content for a release on Steam.

The latest version of Shards of the Past is available for download.

Set out on the road and play two paths with either Damerek or Branson as you head towards Castle Helmsworth. Explore some of your own character's past and get answers to some questions while prompting many more. Conflict between elves and humans spills over as you learn of a new antagonist as well as get a brief introduction to a possible future companion. Discussion with Qinara and Damerek will add to their backstory and also show you that there is more to their past that needs to be explored.

NOTE: This version contains the first of hopefully many Random Encounters. During the story you are prompted to Investigate or Continue on your Journey. Continuing will eventually lead to skipping the encounter and continuing on to a campsite scene for you and your group. These campsite scenes are currently still a work in progress so they will be added in a follow up patch. Ending up at one of these scenes will notify you that the content is coming and then take you back to the start of the encounter so you can choose another option. Future updates will include new encounters to add to the list of possible scenarios so that when replaying different paths you will see different content even if you chose the same choices as before.

This release contains the following new content and updates:

• Images: 1,549 new story renders and 1 movie
• Audio files: 28 new music tracks and 11 new sound effects
• Word Count: 29,000 added
• New Gallery Images: 5
• New Achievements: 3
• Revised Main Menu
• Grammar updates for previous content
• Fixed a line of dialogue after losing the tavern fight that should not have displayed if you lied to Qinara about not helping Damerek.
• Fixed an error with a journal variable for Damerek from version 0.2.0
• Updated Ren'Py version to 8.1.3

Harem is something I have been working on, but I wanted to finalize all the solo romance paths first so I could see where it made sense to open up a possibility for a harem based on your choices and the relationships you have established. It makes sense given the nature of the game, you and your band of adventures together, this type of dynamic is bound to present itself. I just didn't add the tag because while I have ideas on it, I had not written anything in stone. I didn't want to get anyone's hopes up until I have the scenes and storyline finalized for a harem.

When you do the harem route let me know, that is when I will start the game. As long as the harem route doesn't exist, I'm not interested in starting it.

Sharing - This is part of a random encounter I had written for later in the game. You and your group come across traveling merchants. One of them has an item you want, but you have nothing he wants in trade... or do you? His gaze sure is lingering on your female companion...

There will not be a full harem with all 4 as their personalities/circumstances differ too much for that to be an option. But a partial harem is something I would like to develop. I just first wanted to make sure I had the solo paths nailed down so I can see where there would be the chance for that relationship to grow.

agreed especially since early on he made it seem as if it would be a thing
