It doesn't seem like a good idea to make an AI based translation while we already have a proper translator working on it.

Some progress on the automated picture based text translation.
It's still a long road ahead for this to not be a heaping pile of shit, but now it at least no longer murders existing English, Numbers or special characters like %.

I have mixed feelings about that...

The rules say:
"The games uploaded to the site must be adult in nature, do not upload games simply because they contain sex scenes or nudity (example: The Witcher). Note that the No-Sex tag refers to softcore porn content, not SFW games."

That concerns game uploads and not necessarily translation patches, but I dunno.

I guess if you make a Translation-Request thread and it stays up I'll treat it as a normal SLRMTL request, but if the moderators delete it there's nothing I can do about that.

Edit: I really didn't think about SFW stuff, yet. But the more I do, there's really no reason why my stuff wouldn't work exactly the same for sfw games. Heck without all the moaning and grunting noises the translation quality might actually improve a bit.
So if you know a different site that is basically F95 except for safe for work content.
Which has a dedicated translation development section and rules that allow games to be provided for free. (Since I can't translate what I don't have.) I could make a presence there, too.

Update regarding automatic translation of picture based text.
Switched to gen2 EasyOCR and made a bunch of adjustments.
This is what it looks like now:

I would almost call that English. But ofc now that it reads in blocks instead of lines the menu items got all scrambled up.
Also for some reason it's eating the [] around the blocks on the right, but I need a break again.

Edit: Breaks are overrated.
New version, I've fixed the missing characters.

I'm sorry, but after checking the files it seems like Glittering Star Victorias is not using a normal RPGM engine. The package.json says it's RPGM MZ, but I have never seen MZ formatted like this.
There's even some kind of extra encryption implemented on a bunch of the json files.
I honestly do not know how to parse this data properly.

That one also has a really odd file structure, but I don't see any extra encryption so I might be able to work with it regardless.

(This project wouldn't have been possible without l8rdude btw. I pretty much just stole and modified his code. )

Basically if you know a game with a lot of picture based text you would like to see translated, tell me and I'll use it for testing.
Size doesn't matter. I could process thousands of pictures without much effort.
And technically it doesn't even need to be an RPGM game as long as I have a way to get to the pictures from the files. (And later get them back in.)

(I can work with jpeg, jpg, bmp, png, and non-animated gif. As well as all common encryption formats of RPGM. For example: ".rpgmvp".)

Alrighty. I had to implement it replacing the alpha channel before scanning, but now it's somewhat working.
I've attached the result. Please let me know what you think.

But ofc keep in mind that this happened in like 40 seconds with offline neural networks that I'm running in my ram, so obviously you can't favorably compare it to something like Google Lens or a manual translation.

Edit: I should also mention that your example was pretty much the worst case scenario of half transparent short text. It works a lot better for bigger blocks of text.

they're from 2021 and I've been waiting actually a good translation, or at least a playable one if you can, one of them the first game actually has a fan translation but it's almost unplayable, second and third one doesn't have any translation.

So if you can translate this 3 games please, and if you don't want I'll understand it

Edit: first game it's actually having an official translation for steam, it's official annunced by otaku plan it doesn't have any date for now, but for what I've seen it gotta be a censored version for steam, and l don't know at the same time or later, but a +18 patch

Edit 2: Sheryl has now some community translation beign made now, one even beign in the test of the rule 7 so good I guess, now the only game that doesn't have any near translation it's the third one
