I want to say that Shrift 2 so far feels great to play, it really has the dialogue that charmed me and interested me in shrift 1. ALSO HE CREATED ANIMATION FRAMES AND AND MOUTH MOVEMENT ANIMATIONS TO SIMULATE THEM TALKING??? WOW THAT'S IMPRESSIVE!!

I know he's using ms paint still to draw or whatever and that little trailer / anime opening thing isn't very great but idc he's the goat he did a great job on it.

I do hope that he isn't overworking himself, I do hope that he takes a break or something.. I was a bit taken aback by how empty Shrift 2 feels, to me at least. Maybe I'm taking the crazy pills.. I know shrift 1 was developed for like 8 or 9 years overall due to updates, and shrift 2 has been in development for 4 or 5..

but it feels to me like shrift 2 is just way smaller and shorter than shrift 1? Maybe it's meant to be that way I just feel like his progress for development has slowed substantially. IT really felt like he was hitting his stride or getting his groove near the end of shrift 1, or when he was making the EX's

Again, maybe I'm being affected by nostalgia.. I get shrift 1 only has like 9 monster girls that you can bond with.. I'm pretty sure shrift 2 has more monsters to bond with overall, but I don't know, it feels smaller to me.

I was surprised to play shrift 1 and get to the 'ooohh hidden superboss its almost done please wait a bit longer', then wait a few years, and come back, and see it's still 'ooohh hidden superboss its almost done please wait a bit longer', after like 3 or so years.

I do sincerely hope he doesn't turn to generative ai. I like the developer's art. Even if it's MS Paint. Even if you can find better art in other places. I like the developer's art because it's his, it's grown on me, I find it charming. I feel he has come a long way with shadows and shading and details with his art from shrift 1.

If he is struggling, and is stressed, that makes me sad, I value his work. I'd much rather he say 'hey fellas im not feeling great im cancelling shrift 2' or 'hey fellas im not feeling great im going on hiatus for an indeterminate length of time', rather than force himself to slog through development.

Your heart shows in your work, I feel if this work is stressful for him to create, and it is a source of anxiety, it will lead to a worse game, and a worse story, and I do not want that.

I apologize for so much wordiness, I'm bad at being concise. Still, I hope the developer can get some rest and take it easy and not burn himself out

Something's burned out alright... , and it's not the typical type. (context, read previous post about the author):

It translates to 'Rampass', that's just Lampas, right? From the first game he made? So.. I apologize, maybe I just am misunderstanding.. he's stressed and tired from drawing the same characters over and over again but.. he really likes drawing lampas?

I think my translation is bad..

I see in another post he talks about a snake character? and in another he talks about training AI?

I don't really understand Saro, could you help explain it?

Too much porn drawing, his brain along with his member is burnt out from masturbating, that was the joke. Google translate aside, going by what is said here, he's masturbating everytime he draws his stuff, at least that's the conclusion most come to from what can be gathered. I'm sure he's burnt out in general with how long it's taking as well though.

I see... Okay, welp! Good to know my translation wasn't wrong, I just wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. uh.. well you know.. love yourself, I guess? I mean it's his art so I guess you could say he's just engaged in self love..? maybe..?

Either way, I do hope he gives himself a break ngl, I think it'd be way better for him. I like his work, and while I as a player may get impatient at little progress, I think the developer is more important. I want to see the stories and scenes he has envisioned and created; but even so, his health, mental, and well being are way more important. A story can be made in the future, when he feels motivated and energetic, it isn't going anywhere.

Huh, neat! Thank you very much, I appreciate it, and sorry for any trouble, usually I'm just here to see how progress is on games I like or see the forums. I remember seeing a post or two about some recommended h-games

I do wish DLsite reverted things back to before. I wish I could use Paypal like I used to for points.

No worries, you just have to experiment will new tools when you can.

Also, you don't have to worry about the game, Magister Masquerade is always on the ball with that, translations patches from the team who does them as well.

This is going to have to be the last post, since we're veering towards off-topic now. (which is techically against the rules, and can get lots of messages that are off-topic deleted)

But yes, it's funny you mention her, she's my favorite fate character, and the one I have in my profile pictures all the time.

Ah, thanks for the heads up and for letting me know, don't wanna get in trouble.

What is your favorite thing about Shrift 2 so far? I really enjoyed the bonding scene with Siren, though I found it weird I could do the bonding event as soon as I got her, which I think is a bug. I think it was cool to sorta see where Nina found her passion and interest in being an idol.

I also found the scene with Cait Sith really touching. Also... uh.. am I crazy or, shouldn't every monster girl have a bonding event? It seems like only Siren and Sith have them.. well, as far as I've seen so far??

I like the updated art style/animations from the 1st game; he's come a long way. The combat's a lot better, doesn't feel as cheap with the a.i. getting lucky with the attacks they use as much.

Each demon def has a bond quest, might be an issue on your end unfortunately, more specifics would need to be gotten into, to possibly figure out a solution.

It was very cool to see the backstory for Nina, we have from what it looks like, quite a bit to see.

Also don't know if you know this, but in shrift 1 the mails you get, specifically 000, and 999 have Richard as the sender. (I believe one of them is from completing genocide, I believe the other is from the normal ending, not entirely sure)

I have a theory that the clown might be a certain someone, also a couple of the characters you see super brief pop-ups of characters from the first game, implying that's them.

I think the future of his works will depend on his sales. People like the Shrift series universally in his customer base. But as you can all see from his comment page for his newest demo people are not balking at the new stuff either, they're trying it out in good faith even if it may not be what they prefer. The conversation that is happening here is very doom and gloom compared to the interested, curious conversation going on there.

They give praise to the man's original Shrift art whilst showing genuine interest in what he is doing now. Here people are literally discussing the man's personal life and critiquing how much he masturbates in his spare time. Are we really going to pretend that most of us have not gotten burnt out by masturbating at some point in our lives? The Puritanical behavior I see here in the USA, Australia and other European countries is really ridiculous, it's laughable, it seems honestly homosexual to me. It all seems like a bunch of nosy grandstanding honestly.

The man's been making Shrift for so long, he even did a collaboration with Monster Girl Quest, this guy has been out here. So, the guy is burnt the fuck out, he's trying new things, his fans on his page are like, dude we like your old stuff, we want to see it again, but your demo was cool too. The store's comment page was positive, expressed the people's views and was overall conducive to good mental health.

Thank God, none of what is happening on this forum is being carried over to the creator of these games, because honestly that may just make him quit altogether. Shrift and Shrift 2 are plenty to play, that gives everyone a long duration of play time and plenty of sex scenes, but it figures the low-key weird, nosy, prying, negative talk would not happen on his store page; but instead on a website where we can all literally pirate all of his content for free without paying the artist at all.

I can appreciate the irony of people complaining about the artist not making his original art in 1 Demo and yet dedicating themselves to not actually pay anything for it. Showing that they have no intention of supporting his content creation or provide him with the means to make content.

If I'm getting his games for free which I am, I'm not gonna sit here and talk about how much the artist masturbates, he can masturbate all day for all I care. He can take as long as he wants to finish or not finish Shrift 2. Because if I am not paying for his games I have no reason to feel entitled at all regarding his creative direction or future artistic decisions.

I think you're taking some of the conversations about that a bit too seriously, it's really not that deep in most cases.

Speaking for myself, I was making light jokes. I'm also very patient and wait for creators to make/finish games, and I critique things that I find wrong in some way.

It's just very odd for any person to just put it out there that they're not getting work done because they're masturbating too much, let alone supposedly their own stuff, porn creator or not, there's being transparent, and then there's being too transparent.

If the creator had an official English version with it fully translated (1 not 2 in this case since 2's not 99% done), I'd 100% support him, but the only translation has been done by fans, and it's not even 100% done, tons of side stories aren't translated, and we've obviously got the black fox to still wait for eventually (I'd assume after 2).

I don't really see how people commenting on a person sharing something best left unshared is "puritanical", this is nothing like the 90's to mid 2000's levels of puritanical, this is super tame in comparison to that, weird is weird, it is what it is.

Either way, being overly defensive about something, that yes, you're very passionate about, especially in the way you're going about it, is not helping at all, you just look overly sensitive.

I can't speak for everyone, but I've purchased both of the Shrift games myself, I love his work, I love his art, and I love the time and effort he put into the game he's made.

Lets not escalate things, I'm not trying to grandstand, nor do I think my views are better than anybody else's; however, I do think if the fella is burned out, I'd prefer for him to take time off, time for himself, time to relax and destress.

I'm not saying he should quit, but I'm saying I personally feel that your heart shows in your work, and if his work actively stresses him out and is a source of anxiety and frustration, I'd hope for him to take time away.

I'm in agreement with Sarojin, it is a bit odd to mention they're spending too much time getting off to their own art. I'm not even critiquing him for it, just mentioning it's a bit out there.

Regarding this:

" Here people are literally discussing the man's personal life and critiquing how much he masturbates in his spare time. "

The discussion is because he has gone out of his way to point it out and mention it himself.

I'm not writing to diss on him, but I am concerned about him, I'd be concerned about anyone, regardless of who they are or what they do, if they are working themselves to the point where their work is stressful and anxiety inducing. I'd encourage anyone to take a break if they could if things get to a point where something they love turns into something they don't like.

It's good to be passionate about things, it's good to know you care; I think all of us are in this forum and all of us are bothering to take time out of lives to talk and discuss this person's game, this person's work, the time and effort the developer put into things

I did make a joke that him masturbating excessively (as he said himself) to his own art, it's a form of self love, I think it was a bit funny, not a harsh critique or a thorned jab

i actually think it's normal for a porn artist to masturbates to his work
because he "loves" his work so he invests more effort and time.. increasing its quality
that's the good side of obsession.. you dedicate your life to something

but this dev/artist has now lost his "love"/inspiration and is turning to soulless ai
because he masturbates way to much.. which is more hilarious then sad

It could be worse. Much, much worse.
i mean the dev giving up/burns out from too much mastrubation
and turning into an ai "artist" is bad enough

at least he's not a patreon scammer but then again ci-en is like the jap patreon...

I can appreciate the irony of people complaining about the artist not making his original art in 1 Demo and yet dedicating themselves to not actually pay anything for it. Showing that they have no intention of supporting his content creation or provide him with the means to make content.

its not just about the ai art the full demo is shit compared to shrift
did you even play it?

it's a typical effortless jrpg with free pre-made assets glued together with terrible ai
i mean shrift 1/2 are AAA games compared to this "demo"

and just so you know i actually bought both shrift games on dlsite
and i want a ending for shrift 2 that's worth my money.. no ai sloop

then he can become an ai scammer and milk his remaining subscriber/cows until he dies

Breh it's a porn game and from the sounds of it one that the dev is jerking himself to death to. If ai is what's needed to help him overcome his crippling masturbation addiction then I say let him.
