Well for me there is something a little off that I can't put my finger on with her. I understand how we as the MC make her our favourite, after all she is our adopted daughter and not step-daughter, so naturally she will be favoured.
There is also the issue Nax brought up, as a guy there is always something inherantly appealing about being a protector, rescuer and fixer of a lady...brings out our primal urges so-to-speak, to be what we're supposed to be and all that shizzle malarky. So Lily wins major points there. Becca is just our sexy, smart, manipulative little goddess.
As for character models, Abi is almost third on my list behind her sisters...so for me personally, those are my own reasons. Having said that, they are all lovely, gorgeous and love them all. So it's not that I particularly dislike Abi, she just not my favourite.

I honestly find Lily the least appealing of the sisters. She's just so snarky all the time and quick to take offence. Even at the times she shows rare glimpses of affection, it doesn't feel genuine.
To me, she's a cat. And as I mentioned in another thread, cats are basically assholes that just get way with being assholes on account of looking cute. I mean if they looked like porcupines humans would have probably not adopted them in the first place.
Sure she can show affection and you kind of want to adopt her and protect her, but at the same time, when you least expect it and for the most trivial of reasons, she'll also scratch you, bite you, knock that vase you inherited from aunt Delilah off the coffee table.
And she's built like a cat too. Slim and sinewy and probably able to slip through the smallest of spaces.
I don't hate her. I mean I can love cats just fine as long as they belong to other people and know their boundaries.
Abby is more like a dog. Loyal, loving , adores you not just emotionally but also instinctively and maybe even more than emotionally, she increasingly looks ready, willing and able to hump you. Not the brightest bulb of the pack, but hey, love is love as love is.

But you have touched upon an interesting subject here (as a lover of cats). Dogs are dumb and give your their effection regardless. You have to work for a cats affection, it is rarely given freely until they trust you and even then, it is usually on their terms.
As you should by know, there are very obvious and valid reasons for the way Lily is. I accept these reasons on a personal level (as the MC does in the story). As those walls are slowly eroded (much to Becca's influence but also when she learns the truth of some matters), the hug we get off her is incredibly genuine and touching. As for her comment immediately afterwards when walking away, well it's almost a game trope isn't it that there has to be one 'badass' female but I also see that as her acting impulsively (with the hug) without thinking, when she leaves she 'puts back up her wall' as it were.

Let me correct on the dogs, I have two that were adopted out of the street, and it took a while for them to get affectionate, and even so they still, even with training, tend to want things on their terms, one hates hugging and being snuggled unless it is for sleep and even so she tries to be close enough to touch you, but not to be super clingy, and the other refuses to sleep with anyone, she prefers to sleep on her own, so with dogs, it is more dependent if you had them since they were puppies or not.
I loved that hug scene, and the comment I felt it was more of a joke between them than anything else really, and I agree with you on most of the rest.

Background and experience is definitely a factor I agree with you, cats are the same regardless lmao. My own is incredibly affectionate when she wants to be, always comes for a 10 min cuddle when i go to bed, her routine. But if she not in the mood..jeesh she lets me know hahaha. One more reason I love em.
Yes agree there is also a degree of joking with Lily's comment when walking away. Her snarkiness will soon disappear as her barriers weaken, she learns more truths and with Becca's interferance. Becca is somewhat shaping up to become the 'mother role' much like Paris does in 'Picture Perfect' I think. She knows more than the rest, sure as hell understands more, is more mature and due to sort of her self imposed mother role will soon have us seeing a different more loving side to Lily
