Let me tell you a bit about Skudd. I’ve been following him since the Patreon days, so I’ve seen how he works over the years. Honestly, I wasn’t surprised when he decided not to continue working on Gwen’s project. That's just how he operates, he has a history of making similar excuses with his past projects, like moving to a new place or dealing with PC issues.
To be clear, I’m not saying he’s lying about his sickness. I just don’t think it’s the main reason for his decision at that time. If you recall, he made an announcement only after his fans started to backlash against him. This happened when he decided to make major changes to the storyline, despite his fans having waited almost two months for an update.
Look Skudd is undeniably one of the most talented in the animation world, but he’s also one of the moodiest creators I’ve come across. And the fact that he’s been milking his fans over the last two years, he’s probably happy of the success he’s achieved ( money-wise) with the project.
If he truly cares about his fans, the least he could do is pass the project on to someone else to
finish.

I'm sure if enough people send him money he'll start becoming a reliable, trustworthy member of the 3dx-artist community again.

Or you could, just like me and many others, simply accept that Skudd, once on of the best in the business, has become nothing but another Miro, although with much more talent, success and quality work to his name.

Sure, It's definitely possible, there's still lot's of money to be grifted out of naive/horny people pockets.
The much more important question you should probably ask yourself is...
Should you care?
The answer to that question is a definite NO!
Because even if he "comes back" he's absolutely NOT to be trusted at all.
Do yourself a favor and don't get your hopes up.
This is most likely done for good.
