255 is the esp limit but you can merge mods and using esl files don't use a slot. My Skyrim is around 1440 active mods.

i have 882 active mods and 550 esp's game is okay but it takes long to load.

ssd, the game runs smoothly, just the loading is a bit slow probably because of the mods. when i start the game a black screen comes and i have to wait like 20 - 30 seconds is that normal?

i have 240 esp and 2000 esl
install on ssd
no prob load time so far
still some esp can convert to esl

Damn, I have too many esp's and I am afraid to convert them to esl. Too many hours went into modding this game.

use sseedit to find esp that can convert to esl, then compact it to esl and lastly add esl tag..it's simple and easy

Sorry for off top, but does anyone know a LE mod that lets you choose SL animations to play without a max restriction of 150 to appear at once of SL Tools? I saw a modified version of SL Tools for SE that does exactly that, but nothing of the sort for LE. Tried asking on LL some time ago, but no luck there.

If there are only scripts there, you can safely use it on LE. Scripts don't need to be converted. I installed something for SE on LE that fixes exactly this problem (as far as I remember, it was scripts, and maybe some files specifically for SL that don't need to be converted too).
