... and Viktor Black are some of the best in general when it comes to updates and communication.
You mean, the folks who didn't finish The Last Barbarian, but are already making a remake? Those ones?
:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Or was that some sort of subtle sarcasm I entirely missed?

WASD controls feel twitchy, you "jolt" into movement. Or perhaps its a problem with the camera. Suggest implementing inertia/acceleration - when the player pushes a direction, instead of moving at full speed instantly, ramp up speed over a short time frame.

It was supposed to be cartoony movement, but I will look into it and experiment more, thanks!

Dude don't listen to that guy. I've been heavily following almost every 3d fem protagonist game here, and you're one of the most consistent devs. You also release updates in a timely manner.

I mean hell... The dev of delta zone hasn't released content since June or July? And his big update is just adding grenades and a hand blade lol.

You, the dev of HardStuck, and Viktor Black are some of the best in general when it comes to updates and communication.

I hate that your game is stuck at 2 and a half stars because of the issues at the beginning. I hope that changes as your game gets more popular
Thanks for the sweet words ! I'm addressing every criticism even negative reviews, but it's a bit funny nowadays that ( I guess some youtubers made it popular while criticizing games), some people think you can buy an asset, slap it in game engine and it works, when in reality for a very old unreleased project I had (around 2018), I bought KinematicController and had to spent months building on top of it to get a good movement, abilities system, IK and so on working and it if I show you video of it now, it looks so bad in comparison xD. Then from that base I built the controller of Melany + third person shooter + abilities system (some of it was already pre-made, but not functional), so it's easily over a year spent on that and over a decade of experience in unity.

This is not true. As I said, I follow all of these games. The last barbarian was made when Viktor was still learning, and his project got bottlenecked. So he's remaking it and it's so much better, there's also updates once or twice a month, and he does polls too.

If this isn't good communication, idk what you're smoking tbh. Oh, he's also releasing his remake through his SAME patreon. A lot of devs will just set up a new one for extra income. But you get the legacy and the new version all in one place. So like... What are you talking about lol.

This isn't even meat riding or anything, this is just facts.

Horrible performance in Wine with AMD RADV. 3 FPS in the menu for some reason (I guess some effect or shader doesn't translate well and gets run on a CPU?). 20 FPS in the game so barely playable but not enjoyable. Aiming is horrible at 20 FPS with insane sensitivity. Honestly its insane how nowadays you can run LLMs locally with instantaneous inference but games in Wine still run at 3 FPS...

Did anybody else manage to make this work on Linux? Does Proton help? Some winetrick or dll override?

The game works for me, Windows 11, 16GB RAM; video card is Nvidia GeForce GT 730 with 2GB VRAM.
I played level 2, killed the leech and got the 'end of this build' message. :)

I just saw your review. The game is NOT a multiplayer live-service game it's a singleplayer only game, not even co-op. The boss war / death match will be with AI like you can spawn bots in cs 1.6 and play. I don't know what is your computer, but I've tested it on my 13 year old laptop with a very old GPU and the game runs with 30-40 FPS, on GTX 1060 (nearly a decade old gpu), it runs with 60-75 FPS. I have a player on Mac who is running windows as a VM and gets 50-60 FPS and on my RTX 2060 the game runs with 200 FPS. It's either your GPU, drivers or something else that I don't think I can optimize since you mentioned it runs bad even in the menu that only has a single character and a UI, maybe press '/' and check your console logs, if it spams errors then it might be because of it.

The music - calm transition to combat is like I mentioned the style of Doom.

Character creator and NPC thinking you are different and why the character's name cant be changed: It's a biopunk game, in such a world you can customize yourself and also I wanted to make a hero shooter, so there's no option to change the name. It's like changing the name of Geralt from the Witcher.

I'd be curious to see how you can slap a few assets together in unity and create this in an hour though.
thank you clariying abiut the "multiplayer" thing, i will exclude that from my review. dont take the review that seriouslyz im normally pretty nonchalant when writing and who knows you gonna end up baking the mmillion flavored cakes and i gonna be wrong lol.
the issue with music was about the transition being way too abrupt, and the character creation was nitpick.

as for perfomance, it us odd, the menu lags, the game itself runs not perfectly smooth on all areas but it is playable, tried both integrated and external gpu, same results, AMD.

what i said about the 1 hour on unity, was slight misjudgement, as i remembered unity does not handholds you as unreal engine
still, my point wasnt about the entire game, but specifically the third person shooter mechancics feels too blank.

Still , ive seen a lot worse on this site, and when i review, i end jp thinking about more popular or base titles (normal or traditional games) than i do with other h games.

Are you playing on Linux with some kind of emulator? The game does not have a native Linux support just Windows.

What are the full specs of your PC? If the menu lags as I said it may be spamming errors in the console and the only way to find that out is to open it again and press /, well if you still have the game..

I think adding the new level 0 was a good idea, as it gives some of Melany's back story.
Yeah this was the goal

level 0 = quick backstory, takes 2 minutes (there's also a hidden achievement in the dialogues)
level 1 = tutorial + intro story and unlock all abilities (there will be an ultimate soon)
level 2 = from that point on, it's gameplay and story focused

Performance isn't great for me, but it's "sufficient" (although I am on NVIDIA, so it's different, but I had the same problems running it with just vanilla wine). The trick is to run it with dxvk properly configured. Which is a pain of env variables, so I recommend to use Lutris and the Lutris wine runtimes with dxvk enabled, which configures that mess for you.

A lot of games nowadays are running on Linux (steamdeck or otherwise) without bothering to make a Linux-specific version, and rely on wine (or proton, which is a wine wrapper) to emulate the system calls and dlls. If you are developing with Unity, things most of the time work out of the box. I am not sure why I am having more compatibility problems with Sombionic than, say KSP or City Skylines, but it runs.
Now, if you ever want to be steamdeck-certified, you are going to need more than "it runs", but I don't think you (should) care.

Regarding "Organs now decay over time", do the organs decay only when equipped, or do they decay in the 'Freezer' and 'Bag'?

I'm not very familiar with Linux and I'm aware for the Steamdeck it will require controller support, but if you can message me with the settings you play on Linux for best performance, so I can send it out to other users it will be very helpful!
