They aren't using AI, just because the art is trash doesn't mean it's AI. It just means Sunset is phoning it in.
The sad thing is that AI could actually do a better job than Sunset at this point.
For example, I whipped these up in just a few minutes using a generic DCAU lora (not trained on any sunset images afaik) and a single inpainting pass over the faces to clean up some detail.
You could look at these and figure out that they're AI generated, but the complaints about the art in this update are just because he's really dropped the ball on quality.
I'm just really tired of all these dumbasses calling "AI" when the real culprit is shit artists. Don't let sunset off the hook so easily!

The real issue for me with the game isn't so much that the art sucks now, it still seems fine to me. The real issue is that for literal years now, there has been almost no depth added to any of the story lines or sex interactions. The game is wide as an ocean and deep as a puddle.
Each update adds either a heroine or two with the standard dance-strip-bj-fuck-anal loop or some event that's disconnected from the rest of the game and lets you chose who to have sex with by clicking their names over and over. The best stuff is the batgirl-supergirl stuff where the characters actually seem conflicted about their descent into depravity, but there's *so little* of that kind of stuff because it's so much easier to just follow the template and add some new obscure version of a heroine every time.
The game would benefit greatly from adding no new characters and just developing the (very large) cast of existing characters, so it doesn't feel like I'm just throwing a new person in the dungeon each week and talking to them until we have anal sex, then forgetting about them forever.

I like the new event. And I far prefer sunset's newer art.
Yeah controversial whatever. I have like a billion comments on this thread shitting on this game and its devs.
But the art becoming more flanderized with more porn like proportions is just normal. Timm's style is unique but the old batman and JLU cartoons are just that, action cartoons. Their designs have no real curves to do porn with and drawn porn just tends to be flanderized and I don't think that's a bad thing. People like big tits and asses on thin waists. It's an ideal that can't be reached in real life and people like the fantasy of it.
Doesn't mean I enjoy it when sunset is lazy as shit like that special event in Themyscira where we had like 10 girls all of which with the exact same pose body and face, that sucked.
But other than that, I genuinely do think that Sunset is trying a tad harder with the art and poses compared to back when we were still getting cell content. A lot of them are boring as shit.
And one more thing, as much as I hate sunset, the man really does do well with batman/jlu style dialogue. It's actually kind of immersive. Other than the sex, of course, but I've never seen a porn game do dialogue in sex well, like ever.

It's not AI, this has been covered many, many times over the past few months. They're not using it yet. It's just SR7's art style has shifted, for the worse.
First, I totally agree with you in the losing the original gameplay loop; I was kind of hoping to see the metabordello and stuff like that really fleshed out, with lots of new stripping scenes, costumes, etc. Instead of going deeper, they went wider and the whole experience lacks the immersion of the early iterations.
Second, I think this game is a good example of a game that was good in the early nascent days of the WEG scene. Almost 10 years ago, it was basically Princess Trainer and a whole bunch of crap. Anything that seemed remotely/slightly higher quality was put on a pedestal. I first learned about SU on ULMF before F95 came into existence, and SU seemed head and shoulders above its contemporaries as far as art quality and content went. Now there are numerous high quality projects out there, and SSR7's art seems all samey (and you can even just make art in his style with the right LORA off of CivitAI now). Everything that made this game special is in the past, and the devs have no idea how to stay relevant.

not gonna lie y'all... I haven't touched this game since the update that started the Gotham City arc. I'm sick and tired of being invested in a character/group of characters only for SR7 to completely abandon them and start up a whole new arc when the previous one isn't even finished. I was ready and waiting for Luthor to do some very in-character thing with Thymesecra or however you spell it and turn it into some island-wide sex resort or something for VIP customers of his clubs in Metropolis or something like that, but NOOO SR7 got bored and decided to move onto something else... Sorry, but never again. I'll come back once he finishes up the previous areas in 1-2 years as is usual for him.

The naming conventions SR7 uses for sprites are such a pain in the ass. Half of Kathy Duquesne is under "duq" and half is under "kat". I have no idea where Barbara's blue dress costume is because her sprites are spread between a dizzying array of prefixes.
Haha, I think every time he revisits a character he doesn't bother to check what the old naming convention was and comes up with a new one. It's maddening for anyone trying to go through the resources.

Highly doubtful as AI wasn't a big deal as it is now when this game was started and the art for the most part has stayed fairly consistent, LAMO when this game was started i don't think there was but maybe one AI art program and it was poor quality to what it is now. Take note they could be using it now though as im not one to ask about any AI art BS, im just going off how old this game is.

I really love the Bruce Timm style body and the more this game drifts from that the worse everything looks. From the beginning I didn't really vibe with the nipples. They feel over drawn and shaded and that seems to show up more and more as he's adding all sorts of shadows and contouring on abs and such that just don't fit with the designs and just look terrible.
