VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Sorcerer [v1.0.0] [Talothral]

I really love this game.

It tells a story, but it doesn't repeat itself often. The graphics are fantastic, even if the "animations" are actually still frames running on automatic (think ~1 fps with Ren'Py transitions). The characters progress nicely through the story. There are decisions that matter, but there aren't so many decisions that it feels like there are a hundred endings to work through. There are sex scenes, but there aren't so many sex scenes that you forget there's a story being told... at least not in the beginning while the stages are still being set. As you progress through the game, the harem begins to build and by the end, the player will have had the option to effectively turn the harem into something akin to a Pokémon hunt: gotta fuck 'em all. Cause you know, heirs matter. There's no audio, that's my only regret with this VN.

Developers usually have priorities with their AVNs, and while the choice of top priority can usually vary from developer to developer, most developers will actively choose to leave audio at or near the end of the list. However, this game is so well developed on so many fronts, it's amazing that the developer didn't just go that extra mile and put audio in. Not going to remove a star for that, I enjoyed this greatly without sound... just surprised is all.

I'd give it 4.5/5 stars.
The game is good in his own unexpected way, the story is interesting, the characters are original and relatable.
The protagonist is great, removed from any cliché, a true pleasure to follow his developement.
The porn is peculiar, not bad, it explores some weird stuff.

This is my first time writing a review on this website so bare with me as I'm not good with reviews
I replayed this game start to finish 4 times and while the sex scenes are ok and some characters have little to no development ,I'm more happy with the fact that I can knock up anything walking and having a great story which kept me intrigued...it is rare . I love how the story just kept me going with the many sexcapades i can have . Really made me feel like I was part of the game

It's an okay game. The story starts interestingly and is pretty long, but it get's shallow towards the latter half and wraps up too quickly. The characters don't get a lot of development.

The renders look fine most of the time.

The animation system is a slideshow which handles pretty poorly.

There is no audio.

Based solely on this I'd give it a 3/5 but I have to give it a bonus point for the extremely diverse cast of characters.

This game is hard to judge.

As a porn game, it's mediocre at best: the lack of music and ambiance, the slow frame by frame sex sequence where you have to clickclickclick to progress at a decent speed and miss the post sex dialogue, roll back and realize it also resets the sex scene, the blank faces even when professing their love/passion at each other, … As I said, mediocre.

As story, it's interesting but suffers many flaws:

- Lack of music and ambiance. I said it before, but it’s very annoying and even makes some scenes quite awkward. Especially since those ambiance/music are easy to find.

- MC is too perfect. His skill set would put both James Bond and Liam Neeson in Taken to shame, but I can accept that. In fact, I found him super interesting at first. The nuns that raised him, the being that saved his life as a baby, his work… The man wasn’t a blank MC with no history, you could feel he had a life before you were put into his shoes. Then he gets powers, and suddenly he's a god that solves any problem by snapping his fingers, bangs women that throws themselves at him and overall goes through life without making any mistake nor losing his cool. I get that he has everything a guy could wish for, being tall, strong, rich and handsome, but it feels a bit too “easy”

- Too spread out, yet lacks depth. I liked the setting, I really liked it. I’m a sucker for urban fantasy, and this one appealed to me. But it’s too superficial. You get a mix of all mythologies (love that), but the game never digs into any of them (shame).
I could go on, so many interesting world building opportunities just thrown out of the window, mentioned for the sake of giving you the illusion of a more complex world. Style, no sustenance.

I KNOW it’s a porn game, but here’s my take on it: if you don’t plan on developing your world then don’t throw bits that leads to nothing everywhere.

So why this grade then? Because… Because I liked it. Going with the heart here, and despite the “objective” flaws, I still had a great time. The missing parts in the lore made me hungry for more, and I’d love a sequel in the same universe. The MC, although very Gary Stu, is still very cool and both him and other characters are interesting.

The game has very amazing plot, good written characters and interesting universe (magic, sorcerers, spirits, demons etc).

What I enjoyed the most during the game:
- Interesting dialogues which help you to understand the universe and character motivation, it is not just harem game because MC is a jerk, there're reasons for it and it makes game even more interesting.
- No dialogues during lewd scenes, again, thank you, dev, for this.
- Great variety of choices that impact the story and bring consequences.
- The story is not rushed as it could have been and that's great.
- Good ending and epilogue.

The easiest 5/5 rating ever, and even easier to say this is one of the best AVNs ever made. The story is superb, the characters are incredible, the variety is excellent, the writing is magical, the worldbuilding is [I've run out of superlatives].......and so on.

After my untimed-but-probably-10+ hour playthrough I want more, and I want it right now. I can't get enough of this world and its setup because it's exactly what enjoy most in my fantasy: a deep--yet detached--protagonist who is OP as fuck and bangs lots of women and monstergirls. No nonsense, almost no fluff, no stupid cliffhangers or dumb endings, and all of it delivered with crisp, 99% error-free writing.

It's definitely not perfect. First of all the sex and sex scenes are terrible. I mean some of the worst I've seen in AVNs, and I've played some real stinkers in my day. Every single scene is about 100 frames cycled back and forth with a one second delay, meaning you have to spam click 100 fuckin times to get through it...and that leads you to miss the first two or three lines after the sex always. Scroll up? Enjoy watching all 100 frames again. Also the positions aren't very good (I can't recall MC ever going full balls deep) and facial expressions are as lifeless as they come.

It happens most in the first couple hours but there are some other scenarios constructed the same way, with these one second delayed frames in place of animation. They were always frustratingly slow and obnoxious, and I would rather have just had one frame either side of the action rather than whatever this was.

All the main women and most of the side characters are hairy. I hate pubes IRL, in movies, in games, in porn, pictures, art, everything. Yeah it's born from a bad experience with oral like everyone else who has sexual phobias, but I'm 35 and it's not going to change.

The last bad thing is the most unfortunate: the farewell sex tour with all the women. Thanks to the aforementioned issues, it's not fun, at all. Clickclickclickclickclick....actually I just alt-tabbed to look for the next game to play while it ran through them. It took about an hour and it wasn't particularly worth it since each scene only has about five lines of dialogue.

Anyway if I tense shift one more time I'm going to give myself an aneurysm so I'll just leave it here: despite the things I hated, this is definitely a top-3 AVN of all time forever.

Very good storyline and a very good variation of characters and slightly branching paths.
I wish more stories would be at least as good as this, often i skipped through the sex to know the story more.

One of the best written stories here, not going to bore with loads of text so in short:
Pros: Great story. Good renders. Nice variety of characters (some but most avoidable.
Cons: Mimicked animation using frame loops, doesn't detract from everything else. No sound or music.

I tried to like this, I really did. It just goes wrong in too many ways.

For starters, the start isn't great. The MC literally has no ambitions/problems beyond 'I want a break and am going to go take one'. The whole schtick about things going wrong in the company and having a irresponsible little brother were a good start, but in the end, they came to nothing because the MC just seemed entirely nonplussed about it all. Shouldn't an exciting opener about the MC being in deep shit and/or losing control?

Then there's the girl falling from the sky trope. Despite how much I hate it, it can be executed well, but I don't think this one was it. Namely, I'd argue that the MC typically needs a reason why they can't just say 'This is not my problem' and leave, but in this case, the MC isn't given one. Instead, we get the classic 'Our MC is so nice, so he's doing this girl a favor' trope which is the most classic cop-out motivation known to man. Bet you wouldn't be so nice if a smelly ass hobo fell from the sky instead of your perfect and idealized japanese waifu, my man -- just saying.

Oh, and random girl from the sky is just dying to get naked with the MC because 'she's curious about the outside world and wants to try these things with a strange man while she's at the weakest she's ever been in her life.' Cool, cool, makes perfect sense(would be more believable if she was just drunk and horny -- JUST SAYING).

Then there's the plot. What plot? The plot is basically just sit and do nothing. Then take a bath. Lovely. Much urgency, much plot. I hate do nothing plots.

And to go with the do-nothing plot, are the do-nothing conversations. Do you like conversations with no obvious goal? Because this game has plenty of them.

I feel like most games try to make conversations fun and interesting by adding banter and argument between good friends, but the characters I've seen so far in this one have the personality of wet cardboard and speak like it too. What is going on here?

And then I finally arrive at my first sex scene, AND IT'S WITH A FUCKING GRANDMA? It asks you if you want to have sex with her, and I clicked yes thinking 'there's no way this is serious', and IT ACTUALLY HAPPENS. WTF? WHY DOES THIS GAME HAVE ME FUCKING AN ASIAN GRANNY? AHHHHHHH!

And I ragequit right there. I just noped out. I'll be honest, i could have given this game more of a chance.

But no, just god no. What in the fuck? Of all the things, I just can't. Need some goddamn eye bleach after that one. Please.

TLDR
Good try but no. Too many glaring issues and cliches for me. Like the attempt though!

This is probably one of the more interesting stories that I have come across in an adult game. Overall, I really enjoyed the game and would highly recommend it to anyone looking at it.

Pros:
-Story: The story is extremely interesting and hooked me right from the get go. It starts to drag on toward the middle slightly, but overall it is very well written and managed to hold my attention through the entirety of the novel.

- Characters: The characters are well written and portrayed realistically. They have feelings, emotion, backstory, meaning, drive, etc... I didn't come across a single character that I felt was outlandish or didn't belong. I did wish we could have spent more time with some of the characters, but the amount of characters that you spend time with is already extremely high and of good quality.

-Choices: This game gives you a LOT of choices, which is really nice. Even seemingly innocuous choices can turn out to effect and even bigger scenario in the future. I am not sure how many endings there are, but I got ending 5 and loved it. I consider it the canon ending.

Cons:
- Animations: The sex scenes are very awkward looking and use alternating frames to mimic animations. The result isn't very good. That being said, it's not bad enough that it detracts from the game in a major way.

-Sound and Music: Unfortunately there is none to be had. Sound effects aren't necessarily a deal breaker for me if there aren't any, especially since they can be bad if implemented poorly. However, not having any music is a huge detractor for me, and is why the game loses a whole star. If anyone wants to, they can use my YouTube Playlist that I use for any type of Fantasy esque VN without music.

Even with the detractions, this game definitely stands out above the rest. I highly recommend it to anyone who happens to read this review!

great game. thoroughly enjoyed it.
always enjoy a good story with lots of different characters. that has story and not too random. animations looks clean. like the small hidden spots in background and the funny fairy ( spire thing ) and imp always chase and goofing in backgrund. tried a few difrent path while reloading for fun. gat ending 5. lovely game enjoyed. on to try the dev's other game now! can 100% recomend this game.

very good game in the world of might and magic.

story starts slowly but after a while it picks up a pace and starts moving up, while game is quite linear there are still lots of things to do like making babies (mc takes "bit" too literal of what bible says about populating earth but it's for good cause) and fighting numerous battles and taking care of household and rest.

while game doesn't have top notch graphics still those are good enough for this game.

highly recommended since time spent on playing this won't go wasted since story is just so good and has lots of funnies.

Here's what I think after playing Sorcerer V1.0.0.

The story is good and interesting. The renders and animations are nice, but it would be better with audio. I didn't encounter any bugs or technical issues. All in all, it is a great game.

Now this one is really something...

Pros:
+ Story. Strongest feature of this game. Long and good. As a visual novel should be. It's a novel with visuals after all so good VN should be like a good book, yes? And this one is. Yeah it might be at the same time naive with so perfect MC easlily dealing with everything and everybody but still story is good. Especially if you're into fantasy mixed with modern world like in World Of Darkness pen&paper series. Yep it has WoD wibe to me but also some DnD as well. Also there're not many games where harem ending has logical point and we have multiple characters to pick here.
+ Nice quality renders and good looking models without absurdly large breasts or dicks. While most females have cute and sexy bodies of perfect pornstars we also have some unusual kinks like pregnant girls, grannies, midgets, amputees, bodybuilders or fantasy creatures (most of them avoidable by choices).
+ While game hasn't typical animations at all there are lots of sequences made with automatically changing static pictures instead and I can say that all of them looks actually good.
+ Funny second plan trolling scenes in the background. Yea also not sure what's the deal with pickcles hidden here and there but I had my laugh.

Cons:
- No sound. Main flaw of this game but it's not that big problem since we can find tons of fantasy ambience soundtracks and play them via YT.
- Sex scenes are usually short and somehow scarce at first half of the game. Also not many fetishes or foreplay - usually it's just simple oral and vaginal quickies in different positions and most girls have only one or two sex ecounters. But hey! The ones we have are not terrible eitheir so not much to complain here after all.

So... If you're looking for hot and quick fap material this isn't best game for you. But if you're interested in good VN with erotic impact just play this.

A great novel, short on the choice and sex department, but the history is the strong point. I greatly enjoyed it. It does not have many animations, but there are more than enought images to give the novel a sensation of movement in some scenes. In others, the action ones, i missed a bit of something couse it makes em a bit static, maybe a "bang", or a "slash"... not really know but something. Overall an excelent VN for me with a capturing arc.
I'll try some other proyects of the same author anytime of the day.

Amazing Story, great diversity in characters, mystery and intrigue

however the sex scenes is terrible and wonky.

I loved playing through the first half of this VN however the dev failed at keeping the story interesting and during the second half i found myself skipping through text after text without feeling i was missing anything.

The fact that i cant choose how the MC should be able to develop just made things worse.

He's too busy acting like mr. nice guy that im surprised that he hasnt gotten himself killed yet, But i suppose plot armor exists for that reason.

Even though the game is on F95, I wouldn't categorize it as a porn game. Instead, I would say, it's a full fledged adult game that has everything a good storytelling game needs:
Great character development;
Superb storytelling with lighthearted humour sprinkled along the way;
Fleshed out characters with unique personalities;
Secondary storylines playing out in the background;
Branching choices in logical spots of the story - it doesn't feel lacking or overwhelming, just the right amount;
Great visual representation of the world.

And as I said previously, this isn't a porn game, because the sex scenes are one of the dullest ones you can find in games on F95, but that's ok, if you look at it from the perspective of storytelling instead of seeking for a fast "release".

5/5 stars - Would like to see more stories in Sorcerer's world in the future.

Good story, good render, very nice overall! I rarely give rating but I cannot miss rating this one. The girls are nice looking, and you can choose the girls who you want to be with. And the humor is amusing. The dialogue is not boring. Good job! Waiting for ur other games.

The story is enjoyable, you can have a harem ending with all your ladies. And make them all pregnant as well
