Looks like the Steam version was updated on the 16th. Update notes:
Hey everyone!
I’d like to share that I just updated the game to the latest version (11.0).
And this update adds the
complete story of Watt-ii
! Now during this 'monster mystery' Keen's nerves will be truely tested as he decents into in the darkest part the ship... to make some challenging repairs. But perhaps not all is as it seems in this creepy story?
Well I leave it up you to discover that,
I hope you will like it!
This has been added (in more detail)
- New Location: The Brig ( 1 screen )
- New Location: The Cellar ; top, stairs, middle, left & right ( 5 screens ).
- New Location: The Maintenance tunnels ; straight, left, right, gate, doors, dead ends ( 6 unique tunnel parts + variations together making 120 screens )
- New character: Watt-ii
- New scenes: Mysterious encounters
- New scene: Keen falls
- New scene: Watt-ii's snack
- New music: Cellar & Maze
- New XXX scene: 1 scene for Watt-ii (containing 2 animation sequences)
- New challenge: Repair the Helping Hands
- Other additions: Various items and additional story art & lots of small animations, such as moving doors, screens, character & effects animation.
- And I also fixed the spelling errors you found, thanks!
Good to know...
- If you just want to see the new content, you can best start playing from Watt-ii's story.
- Generally, when someone tells you to come back later; pass through keens room.
And please don't forget ...(for returning players)
- Old save games
cannot
be re-used after an update & will get you stuck if you do; because if code changes, saves break.
- Please use the chapter select screen instead, to get back to where you were.
Walkthrough
Are you stuck, then maybe the Walkthrough-Guide can help?
You can also find it again in the sidebar of the store-page, by clicking on the ‘ manual ’.
Behind the scenes
Well, without spoiling anything of the story... this is a situation you will encouter in the newest part of the game.
And here I really tried to create a more spooky atmosphere - which is of course very different from the usually very bright and colorful scenes in the game. Now to do this, I first made the 6 animation frames for this broken robot-hand- and then placed it in a sort of neglected looking part of the ship. But that alone felt a bit boring, and so then I added the animated-fog in the forground... and finally, I made the blinking shadow effect for the background (by copying the background, making it lighter, and then cut out a part again, to create the shadow of the robot-hand).
Well, this was really a fun scene to work on for me. And once I had this, I could then use the same effects for many more parts of the story. But...you'll probably see that soon enough
Next?
And that's all the news I have for now. But meanwhile I already started working on the next update, which I hope to release again in few months (You'll find the new release dates in FAQ).
Well, please enjoy this update & all the best!
