I don’t want to be a scumbag and criticize this dev so much, but I can't notice the following facts:
The last release of the 3rd Dec contains nothing to play. Tomorrow is 3rd of April. Totally 4 months after the latest release.
Dev promised to make a release in Feb, March, and then at the start of April. All release dates failed because of a "lack of time".
Failed.

Dev promised to make some video with development progress:
1680464875415.png
Failed.

After 4 months after the latest release, he published only 3 posts that were related to the game:
1) 9th March voting for having day night cycle.
2) 27th Feb - dev plans which IMHO contains zero information about the project. Just common phrases like " Dialogue system " or " Quests "
3) 12th Dec - 2D or 3D level map voting

Now he told that he didn't publish an update because he doesn't want to have comments like "and what has changed?..”
So It probably means he didn't make any significant changes as he told.
Because if not, he was able to share some screenshots(it's not so complicated to make) or videos at least with his discord community or here or on Patreon. But there is zero information. I lurked all his public resources before writing this.
NOTHING.

Links are dead. Links on his patreon are dead. His website doesn't have any download links.
Dev complained of having haters but his patreon and subscribestar are still alive to collect donations. It looks very suspicious.

Conclusion:
- Dev launched his project almost 4 years ago.
- He made only 2 or 3 updates at all.
- Still, nothing to play with if we are talking about the latest update.
- Dev breaks his promises all the time (I'm too lazy to screen all his comments on Discord and here, but you're able to do this instead of me if you want)

Why this project is still here and not marked as abandoned at least?

This is my own opinion and taking it or refusing it's up to you. I was so hyped to see an update but after months of waiting I understand that it's just about shitty marketing to collect donations. I know that many IRL things may distract you from your hobby. But when you have more than 300 subs it's not just a hobby. Keeping your community in a state like this, looks very unfair.

no weekend gameplay video
Probably because there wasn't really much to show. After all, the update was delayed due to the dev not wanting people to ask "and what has changed". That kinda implies that there really isn't much difference between the last release (IE nothing but a character creator and empty map to walk around in) and now.

i was there when the demo just came out and let me tell you there is nothing new, and considering an empty map as new content is silly

4 years and the dev just fights people instead of proving them wrong

Since the dev keeps ignoring this thread and his promises as well, I read a few more of his discord comments.

So shortly. He spent 4-5 hours per day on the project. It's a decent amount of time.

This is the only work he has.

He tells that this is a "valuable project". I'm not sure that we can call the game's current state "valuable", anyway.

I have a question: Are any other devs who build 3d games solo? I don't need the links here to keep this thread related to topic. Why am I asking this? Maybe we are too strict with this guy because it might be impossible to make 3d game by one guy? But if we have real examples of solo 3d devs, I have nothing to justify SL.

It's entirely possible, just like any game development, to do it solo. Of course if you are you need to be able to do every job on game development yourself, which is obviously harder since no one can be really good at everything.

Off the top of my head, I know of the game Crypt (available on steam, not porn) is a 3D game fully made (except bug testing) by one person. AFAIK The Last Barbarian (Victor Black, on here and steam) is a solo developer, but haven't really looked into it too much so I could be wrong on it being solo.

Unity also does a hell of a lot of the work for you, or someone's already made the code / assets for a lot of things. If you want to have a combat system, there's a built in feature for that or you can find someone who's made a different version you lie and can use. Need a physics system to have movable objects for a puzzle, it's there. Then there's the unity store, where people make assets for games that people can pay a licensing fee to use, so if you're ever playing a game and recognize the same model of a chair from a different game, it's probably a store asset.

Checked the assetstore. Well. It seems to me it's possible to make a "walking scene" in one or two weeks with 200$ budget. If you are good with Unity. So I have no idea what he was doing for 4 years. Maybe I should quit my job and make my own SW game to collect bucks?

Now tell me, how many Star Wars style assets did you find there? Such that you can immediately use in the creation of the game and not spend months creating them with your own hands? Show me at least one.
Or was I supposed to mold the game from what I found and say - this is Star Wars? Wouldn't you be the first to shout then - "It doesn't look like it at all!"?

Well, how about that gameplay video you said you would make. That would show something, especially since you pushed the update back again.

Man, you promised to show some dev videos a few times and broke your words.
You announced the release a few times and then - nothing.

Because speaking of other resources in your game:
Animation of MC - it seems to me Kubold assets.
Models it's DAZ 3d. Btw your character creation process is just about playing with blendshapes, nothing complicated. There are also available assets on Unity store.
Character controller - there are a lot of them from 10- to 25 bucks per asset.
Dancing animation - mixamo or stimuli from rendererotica. I saw this animation previously in other projects
All this might be merged in the demo in few weeks.

You say there are not much SW assets in unity store that you used in the game. So you spent 4 years of creating them. Right? Ok, show us the creation/modeling process, texturing and optimizing it for the game. It is very interesting for us.

And this (at least this, this is just a small part) also possible to do this in few weeks? Given the lack of clear references for many of the models, given the errors and alterations, with the correct mesh and the correct parameters for use in the game engine?
