i liked the concept of the first once, and played it a lot, good to waste night shift time. still it never finished, a little sad about that.
Still i hope this one will be more "playable" and that the bugs of the first try don't show up in the 2nd round.

will keep the watch button active and see were its going.

Was there even an end to get to? I'm pretty sure I conquored the entire galaxy in the first one (the AI doesn't really fight back once you've amassed enough ships) and nothing happened.

Conceptually, I want to play these games, they seem like they'd be fun, especially with certain implimentations, but the fact is they are way too badly developed, grinding though a buggy mess that's called a finished product is more infuriating than fun.

I don't suppose I can get the source files for SM1, I'd love to fix and clean that mess, and make some improvements.

Anyone else see from Xeno Bits studio and think that it's essentially Stationmaster with no porn and graphics from Evil Genius? I swear the game mechanics and room items look nearly identical.

Does anyone else think the clothing choices in both games aren't the greatest? In this genre you'd expect things like slave leia bikinis, ordinary bikinins, cat and bunny suits and the like instead of these wierd choices.

Is the galaxy map/conquest supposed to work in this version ? After creating 5 drones on a military base, the game just tells me "wait for the to be available next turn", which never seems to happen.

There is a green bar next to your homebase which represents your fighting power... same goes for any neighbor... just a heads up last time I checked you needed atleast 2 of the most expensive ships to conquer someone

Hey Y'all! I'm back!

It's been a while. Thought I'd come read the thread. Lots of good stuff in here. Going to talk about some of it.

I think you're right about the boxy station. That won't be changed for the next patch (it's already too big), but it's on my list. I was going for the Startopia thing and figured the sky would be worth it, but it just looks ugly and makes it feel like you're not progressing.

Optimizing the startup code is happening this patch though. I'm switching from a galaxy that's generated on the fly to one that is authored ahead of time because I need to enforce some narrative stuff (it has to be impossible to finish off a faction before meeting another one, etc.). Should speed things up a lot, and make it not look like it's crashing.

I hope to convince people that AI art isn't just a lazy alternative. The creative freedom has been incredible, bordering on addictive. I don't want to spoil too much about the next update, but the new faction leader stories are way beyond anything I could have attempted without it. The SM2 version of Fei's human centipede is on-camera, has its own theme music, and is how one of the new characters introduces herself. The crazy just goes uphill from there. Before Stable Diffusion, it would have taken a major studio to attempt something like this, and they wouldn't, because sex is bad, mmkay?

I think the last patch (with the AI art and rewritten events) and the next patch (with the new faction leaders and further-reworked galaxy map) are the start of SM2's identity as a true sequel, rather than a remake. As for the optimization, I'm working on it.

As always, thanks to everyone for the support and feedback! It means a lot that people are willing to put up with the slog with me, and let me know what's working and what isn't. That was a big part of how SM1 got to be the beautiful mess that it was, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Sex scenes are just image sequences for the time being.

The plan is to migrate the on-station stuff to use an AI-augmented paper doll setup, which will hopefully support animation (think Wallpaper Engine-style). After that, I can hopefully port the motion piece back to the old events to add animation to those as well. That's a research project though, and right now I'm focused on writing out the new factions and story.

Of course, AI art will have probably advanced to the point that any plans I make now will be totally obsolete by the time I work on that, so who knows what it will actually look like. It could go full motion video and jump the size to 400gb.

Hey guys, Station Master 2 version 07.1 is out! You can find it on Dev's Patreon here:

I can definitely recommend a sub for this one. The update alone is worth it, but more importantly it's money well spent on a dedicated Dev. It might take time but this update proves SM2 has a longer runway than SM1.

For those who do play here are my thoughts: it seems Dev's main focus on this update is the galaxy map and conquest, so you might want to focus on that area of play, since it is where most of the new content is. Most of the 3d on the station floor has yet to be cleaned up, but I've heard Dev say in a forum thread that he is eventually going to replace the inspection screen completely with AI art augmented interactivity.

Game mechanics-wise Station Master 1 is probably still the way to go, but lore/story telling-wise SM2 is straight up insane (in a good way). You will get answers to the station itself and push forward in the story.

I uploaded a new public build here:

It adds the new factions, a ton of quality-of-life features, and, possibly most importantly, makes huge improvements to performance (It's now playable with the entire galaxy conquered and 2000 people on the station).

It's the same as the Patron build except that most of the faction events are disabled. In this, only Christine has diplomatic events, and only Kinscourge has concubine events. The Patron build has complete pre and post-conquest plotlines for everyone, with two endings for each faction leader, and three endings to the game.

Don't forget the extreme content mod! Volkov.png

The change of direction sounds a little concerning but you seem enthused about it so that is somewhat relieving. Do I understand it correctly then that the 3D sex interactions are to be completely scrapped then? If so how will consistency of the characters representations between the 3d parts and 2d be maintained (specifically wondering aabout the randomly generated characters)?

IDK if you've played the latest update, but the new faction leader scenes are a huge improvement over the old 3D ones. I can't wait to bring that level of quality to the rest of the events.

As for consistency, that's a good question. The plan is to:

Create a library of hairstyles, body types, clothing, and faces (in the same photorealistic style as the faction leaders I've been posting).
Use those for the inspection screen, markets, sex scenes, and slave events by combining and recoloring them.
Create matching low-detail models/textures for the body types, hairstyles, and clothing for the top-down view (which will be the only part that remains 3D).

I've not no, waiting to play the full release\1.0 version.

Sounds like you have got a solid plan there, thanks for filling in the gaps for me.

Downloaded the public version. Maybe it was a bug or something else, but:
1. What about the character editor? Instead of “lips”, “breasts”, “ass”, “legs”. Some kind of set of names that somehow randomly change their appearance. Ugliness!
2. When receiving a new “character,” the ability to immediately inject a calming serum has disappeared.
3. Well, the classic - memory leak. After 10-20 minutes of play. (15 “characters”) 45 gigabytes of memory (RAM and page file). At 4080 I get 10-17 FPS.
4. I couldn’t find a way to limit the number of visitors and residents of the station.
5. I don’t see my money balance.
