We are in something really funny in AVN industry, at least in occident. People want good quality matertial, with fast release pace, but only few want to pay. And this bring us to many good AVN being abandonned. No editor mean no job for the dev (creators), only way is to use means like patreon with highly priced tier to hope to get a descent amount of money, and due to Patreon content rules, creator need sometime to adapt the game. And so far it's what work best for the devs.
It's something really funny in AVN industry. People want to earn money in game development, but they illegally use licensed renders, so they can't put their creations on Steam or GoG and then they cry about piracy
I'm perfectly fine with paying 20 bucks or more per season, but not if I have to download it constantly via bloody mega or other file sharing service.

Artemis is on Steam, Swordbearer is on Steam, 0 End is on Steam, Love of Magic and Being a Dick are on Steam, and few dozens other. I think BaD even ended up in Steam Top100 sellers at some point, but sure, let's blame the community and not the legal status of the game which is officially - nonprofit fanfiction.

I will add to that - I would happily pay ONE FUCKING TIME for a game. Then maybe periodically again for 'expansion packs' or DLC. But every fucking chapter, when each chapter is maybe 10 mins long? Yeah get fucked. Not happening.

Think about it, you pay what maybe $30-$80 for a non-adult video game, and if it's good you will easily play it 50-100 hours. If it's amazing, hundreds of hours over the years, easily. But what, because it has boobies in it suddenly it makes sense to pay hundreds of dollars for a game that in all likelihood you will not spend as many hours playing, and the game will likely never even get finished? (News flash: the majority of these games never get finished.)

It is way easier and cheaper to develop an adult game compared to a 'regular' video game but somehow the industry has got all these Patreon folks convinced they should pay much higher prices for them. It's absurd.

The MIDDLE tiers for this are in the $20 range. They go up to $80 A MONTH. If you pay $20/mo via Patreon, that's $240 fucking dollars a year. Most of these games take years to finish, if they ever finish. So you could easily spend a grand or more on it. Even if you did the much cheaper $6/mo option, that is still $72 a year - quickly adds up to HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS if you just support the game for a few years of it's lifespan. That is simply extreme greed, pure and simple, there is no clever way to argue around it.

And yes, the irony is the devs are using pirated shit to make the games in the first place, and they make no attempt to even try to get licensing from the creators of those products. So cry me a river that their games get pirated in turn.

You're not paying for the individual game but supporting the developer so they can continue to make games indefinitely.

I would understand such anger if this game didnt have a public release, but it does have a public release. So I am sure most people who are supporting on patreon arent doing it to buy the game over and over again (I find the idea of that quite funny), they are (like me) doing it to support the dev, the things on patreon are just a bonus

I just find this to be such an absurd, weak argument. They are indeed paying for a product. Do you feel the need to send 20 bucks a month to your local firefighters, EMTs, teachers, volunteers, the people who work with special needs children for a pittance of a salary, or the people who volunteer at soup kitchens and homeless shelters in your local neighborhood? All of whom are arguably way more deserving and certainly have more of a positive impact on society... No, right? But for some bizarre reason you think it's a big virtue signal that you donate to starving... porn devs

Erm these tier pricing are absurd... I'm willing to insta pay some where around $10 but damn A$35 is crazyyy. Dev should reconsider patreon prices.
You're not the first nor will you be the last moaning about the tiers, and obviously it is something that Flynn should (or has been) looking into. But patreon isn't the only place to get this - I mean hell, currently stray incubus is included in a bundle on itch.io with a bunch of other games for a choose your own price (currently the average is about $6 or so). Now they may not all be winners, but there are some genuine good games.

Thanks, but is it the latest update? the last update on stray incubus was 14 days ago on that site

I dont feel the need, but I probably would be a patron for my local fire fighters and others if there was a way to do it that was easy. I find this argument a bit odd, like yes obviously those people deserve money, but supporting a porn dev and supporting a homeless shelter arent mutually exclusive, I can and do do both. I dont benefit from supporting the homeless shelter (well, not directly), and I dont really benefit from supporting flynn.

Once again I feel like your clear disdain for this to be weird, the game is free, if you dont want to pay a lot on patreon, which is completely reasonable, those tiers do go really high, then just dont support him on patreon, the update will come.

I'm going to side with hoshimota on this one. My biggest problem with Patreon is that you can't make a single payment, which I would do a lot, rather you're forced in to a subscription model just like Amazon Prime. Then you forget about your subs, keep paying when you'd rather not and Patreon can skim their percentage.

High priced tiers and begging for donations does nothing but help them and, like hoshimota says, you are paying towards something that, more than likely, won't ever be finished. Think Star Citizen which raised two million dollars in crowd funded cash, sold in-game ships that don't exist for $15,000 for a game that hasn't been released in 14 years of development.

If you want to pre-tip then do your thing. Hopeful people are good sources of cash. Personally I'd prefer to pay my door dash driver AFTER he delivers my food rather than before but the system isn't set up that way. Deliberately.

No shade, just some thoughts. Peace.

His disdain for Parteon based funding is completely reasonable, considering that currently most of AVN seems to be focused on Patreon and Patreon only. Crowdfunding used to be a way to kickstart the development, not to finance it endlessly, and even then there were very clear conditions that project had to meet, with specific deadlines.
Now it's basically "keep it coming and maybe I will post some update this year". It's bloody OnlyFans business model.

... i am now wondering if someone could make an onlyfans account for a porn game they are making. instead of streaming themselves, they stream their drawing and also hand out download links when doing so.

Looks like people learned their lesson after the last leak

New version is available for $23 right now and it hasn't been leaked

Entry price will drop in 4 days

White Belt doesn't get any form of early access
On the availability chart the lowest early access tier is Purple Belt 21 days after God and Keres

Everyone after that gets access on August 1 unless it gets leaked again

A person on a budget doesn't stay subbed
They only temporarily sub when there's a new update and it's available for a tier they are willing to afford
