It's terribly saddening that Flynn has had to abandon Stray Incubus. It was one of the handful of VN's here I was able to see the progression and improvement throughout.

The conundrum of whether someone should takeover or try to continue SI reminds me of other Abandoned games, as well as TV shows when the original writers are replaced: it is so incredibly difficult to retain that feel, whether it be the humour, the sex scenes or the characterizations.

My idealistic suggestion in what to do would be to treasure the memories of this game and its characters, and perhaps to have some cameo in other games - think of how many other VN's Misty has appeared in. That might be the best way to appreciate Flynn's work.

Bringing up TV shows does make me wonder of a concept where AVNs are made as a season/franchise with different devs per season, like how shows have different writers/directors per episode, sounds interesting but also no guarantee if they'll feel like the same game/have the same quality

Considering the world and lore of SI it would be interesting to see pan out, but I do think that's better done on a new piece of media rather than trying to continue someone else's work. I agree on the sentiment that the game should just be put to rest rather than try to be revived, as sad as that may be.

That being said, considering there are games that are straight up parodies of mainstream media but are good enough quality and characterization to stand on their own two feet, I can see a possibility of making a completely new game but with the same character models, like how Flynn used Luna and her dad from Eternum, and the Stormside girls, but gave them a twist here to where it feels like they're alternate universe variants pre-existing in this world.

Like the game could be Stray Incubus: Rebooted and just carry on the storyline with some new flavor, but that would take a pretty good writer to actually be received well imo.
Another direction would be to have like a reincarnation/alternate universe where the same characters exist, either in the same era, or in a more modern setting but have the same lore and story (Percy Jackson style), don't even need to callback to the original game, can just have it as a standalone thing, or if they want either tie in to the plot (like Sicae/MBML), or just have easter eggs (like OiALT/Eternum)

Fuck man. Wtf is going on...so many games is getting abandoned. Really sad but at least there's some closure with dev's last msg on his situation instead of leaving us in the blue as its the common trope with abandoned games. Could see judging by the lack of quality in the updates that there's something going on compared to last time. Also major big thanks to the supporters and devs especially for coming on the forum here expressing themselves and how much Flynn affect their lives. Thank you. I hope one day you could comeback when all is better although is seems rather bleak. Take care.

Was this actually abandoned? I could have swore he just posted previews a couple weeks ago?
Oh damn nevermind, just check discord and its true, fuck man too many good VNs are getting dropped lately. Hopefully someone good picks it up and continues it, the last announcement in Discord says he left everything for someone to take it over so there is a sliver of hope I guess

he was added in the most recent update, I am sure we will get plenty later on
I think we cursed the game dude....

Jokes aside this is unfortunate I only played the very last update but the game was quite good so what a bummer.
And as much as it sucks to see a good game nuked and deleted like this one got for whatever reason, I must still say massive respect to the dev for doing that rather then just going radio silent and farming patreons for free cash for years.

So cheers to you dev wish you luck in the future.

still it could be that his decition was a bit too hasty.
nobody can predict how someones life could change suddenly, and in a blink of an eye to nuke everything and bail that was maybe not the smartest move.

pause the pantreon account for indefinite time would been far better to see how the near future is forming for a person.
and if the circumstances change and that can happen quickly then it can be continiued where it halted.

As sad as it is, I understand Flynn needing to nuke everything, if I had this kind of project hanging over my head while I was also dealing with family problems it would make it 10 times worse. It's clear to me Flynn was (and probably still is) super passionate about this game, and if he thinks a clean break is what's needed then I would imagine what he is going through is truly awful.
I disagree that the decision was made hastily, in his statement he talked about deliberating about this choice for a long time, and being in denial. Its the blink of an eye for us, but for him it was probably weeks if not months of uncertainty and stress.
