If you have family trouble, then this is exactly what patreon is allegedly for. For people to donate to fund your life while you are getting your shit back together.

The concept behind Patreon is similar-ish to old school patronage, but less personal (in the patronage system, each 'work' would usually be commissioned by a single patron) and to an extent putting more control (and burden) into the hands of the creator. If an artist on Patreon doesn't have a following, they have to build one up, usually by catering to what people want to pay for (i.e, follow the money). To an extent, Patreon encourages and rewards building parasocial relationships with members to keep them 'invested' financially and otherwise.

In most creative spaces, I don't think it makes sense for anyone to start out expecting to actually make money -- they have to seriously work for it and even then reality meets expectation and they may still not make enough money to go full time or even part time. This probably applies double to folks making AVN's using Koikatu or HS since you can't even sell the work on a platform like Steam or GOG for an alternative revenue stream. And further, even if it starts out as a passion project or a hobby, after a while those can turn into a second job -- an underpaid, under-appreciated, overly stressing, second job.

Hopefully Flynn974 takes the time they need to get into a better head space and can find something else to be passionate about.

Was an interesting game and was curious to see where it went, but as most of these games, it's never a good idea to get too attached. Just enjoy the ride for however long it lasts and move onto the next one. Best of luck and best wishes to the former dev.

Well fuck. I had just recently read through this game after the latest update and randomly decided to check the forums today only to see the dreaded tag.
Another one bites the dust.
This is why I'm a dirty pirate and I know a lot of people may make this excuse but it's very true for me. It usually doesn't pay to get invested into these indie adult games.

Man that is a bummer. Hopefully the dev can get his life sorted out and is ok in the end. But having to cancel this really sucks. Was one of the best games on here. And you could see how he was improving on his renders and animations. The story was interesting and the characters were great! Such a shame. RIP SI!

Damn thats depressing. I wish him the best and hope he manages to get through whatever is going on with his family. This does suck though as i was really enjoying this game. Hopefully someone picks it up and puts in the effort to finish it. If not i would at least like to see his synopsis of future events so that i have some idea how the story turns out.

I like Flynn's work and I know, I might sound like an a-hole but I have to appreciate the irony of people using pirated Honey Select content, complaining about piracy

It's funny how you make the same assumption as big corpo, that if people didn't have access to the build earlier they would immediately jump onboard and become higher tier patrons. It does not work like that. If someone isn't already a patron, it is highly unlikely that he will become one, just to skip few weeks of waiting.

Early access is a nice bonus but that's all it is - a bonus, not the main reason people support a creator.

Also, it might sound brutal but I can easily name as least 15 or 20 projects on this site worth supporting. The competition is severe and the economy sucks even is first world countries. Expecting you will make a living in western Europe from indie, adult game development, when you can't even legally sell it on Steam or gog because of using copyrighted assets, is simply being not realistic.

My only advice to Flynn is: go back to thinking about Stray Incubus as a nice, creative hobby. If that means 1-2 updates a year - so be it. Don't make it about paying the rent because you will burn out and fast.

I personally don't want another dev to continue this. I have never seen a vn change devs and keep same level of quality. Chances are i wouldn't end up feeling like the same game. Even if the new dev got a outline for the story from Flynn character dialogue would probably not be same. Causing the characters to feel different. Instead of continuing this the better option would be to use the premise on a new game.

Honestly speaking, characters in these games are not actually interesting. You'd only ever be invested if they're in the story, and this story is not as great as people make it out to be. It's mostly standard shonen. Without the OG writer, the most interest someone would get with these assets is going to be the models for a fap.

I still remember people criticize Dev about LIs sex out of nowhere & constant ahegao face issue.

I think the recent update is where Dev learn to improve his mistake.Story is good but it's like anime trope.Ita good enough.
