I’m pained by the news of Stray Incubus’ end and Flynn974 ’s departure. After reading his post on Discord, I can only understand and feel compassion for the personal reasons that seem to be quite challenging.

I hope he will be able to recover from this, cheer up again, and move towards brighter horizons in his personal life. Of course, it’s sad that everything comes to an end this way, but in the face of such personal struggles, all we can offer is understanding and support.

I wish that when the time is right, once things have calmed down for him and he’s found some personal stability, he’ll be able to return and update us, reassuring us about his situation. Until then, I wish him lots of strength and courage to overcome this difficult time. My best wishes for happiness go to him and his loved ones.

I had only few conversations with him, but he always seemed nice, attentive, open to suggestions, and had a great sense of humor. It’s a shame that he’s stepping away from an AVN that was overall fun and enjoyable. He had made real progress in the technical execution of his game.

The storyline was easy to follow and enjoyable, although it wasn’t without its flaws, sometimes marked by writing missteps, clichés, or oddities typical of certain anime, from which he seemed to have drawn some inspiration. That said, it was a very positive and great experience, one that I will hold a genuine fondness for.

I’m not sure if the game will find someone to take over, if anyone will feel up to the challenge, or even if anyone will be willing to doing so. It’s always sorrowful when something we’ve grown attached to over time comes to an abrupt halt, but that’s how life goes, and we have to focus on the good moments for move on.

A big thank you to Flynn for all the hard work, energy, and passion dedicated to this visual novel, as well as for all the fun, joy, and excitement we shared because of him. I wish him strength and the best for whatever comes next.

That Argument does Not hold up in real life. Look at how long some vns take Update tp Update while being good and profitable (to Name one, artemis) most games here are under 5 ppl but yea put your tinfoil hat back on.
that's exactly the point

if the game isn't profitable, they abandon it
if the game is profitable, they extend the money-drawing process as much as possible, after all, you pay every month, regardless of whether there was an update or not

and as you can see, there are plenty of ways or excuses to extend the time between updates
a new job, family problems, computer problems, illness, to name just a few, and every month a transfer from patronite comes

na, that's idiotic. Have you heard of the Hollywood formula? Let's say someone were to "mass produce" these games, they would know not to make a %$^& game and expect it to do well. Instead, they would copy an already known good model and just make variations on that instead of producing a bunch of random trash. Stray Incubus is of decent quality, and I don't see other, similar junk floating around on the internet, so where are these Other "mass produced" games at?

oh boy, here we go again. There were multiple reasons why the game went downhill. Stupid Tier lists, sudden sex events out of the blue, no buildup with certain characters etc. Blaming early leaks is really just the tip of the iceberg

EDIT: Oh and before i forget to mention it, yes, i was a sub regardless. i upped my tier after flynn literally threatened to abandon the game if it doesn´t get more support. And guess what? He still abandoned it even after he got what he wanted. Never mentioned in any news that he´s thinking about abandoning it, even posted preview pics before he pulled the plug. I´m personally pissed as fuck about how he handled it in the end. Still loved the characters though.

Well damn, always liked this one and was waiting until the next update to continue from the end of Chapter 1 so I'd have a nice amount of story to go through. Guess it's time to catch up anyway.

I mean if he was literally posting preview pics and working on the next update right before all this happened, are you really sure he abandoned it because of all the conspiracies that it was unsuccessful/not making enough money and not the reason he gave about family issues and finding a real job that'll pay better?

Though it could very well be both, I'm an optimist so I'd like to assume he really had to abandon because of family issues, cuz if it was just simple game not making enough money, he could just get a real job and work on the game part time and just lengthen the development process and potentially decrease sub costs or just be transparent about it and let subs decide if they wanna continue supporting.

I feel like if he actually "got what he wanted" (and I'm assuming you mean the financial support that he required to keep this as his fulltime job) then he wouldn't have considered abandoning, especially if there wasn't actually a family issue, since if there wasn't an issue he could still just receive the money from subs rather than nuke everything and not get any money anymore.

I do think it sucks how he handled it at the end but again I feel like the abruptness is an indication that there were actually personal issues, but then again I'm an optimist and I also can't see any reason why he'd just abandon it, at the very least if he was being scummy and abandoning cuz he wasn't making money, he would just become a milker.

Though I've heard that he did stuff like move to an expensive location and shit so maybe there is some fault of his own there.

Ultimately, I liked the game, it had its issues but Flynn was at some points very communicative and open to critique on scenes so I believe he would improve future scenes to not feel like the ones people hated, and I hope one day he will be able to return.

Seeing all the silly theories about why the game stopped and people arguing in the thread trying to prove they're right, I’ll just share the last message Flynn974 posted on his Discord server. You can check it out in the 'flynns-final-message' section at the top left of the channel tabs.
I think arguing over those reasons, or trying to prove that one person or another is right, is pretty childish and unhelpful. Spreading rumors and false claims doesn’t get us anywhere either.

Flynn974 clearly explained in his message the serious and important reasons behind the halt of production on his AVN and why he stepped back from this activity. I have no reason to question what he said, and even if I did, it wouldn't change the current situation.
I’m sharing this message with you all, sorry if it’s already been shared, so everyone can check it out freely and maybe get convinced or at least learn about the reasons Flynn gave.

Also, I’d like to add that the dev was respectful and transparent with his community of backers by explaining why he’s stepping away. He could’ve easily chosen not to say anything, stopped communicating with his supporters, and kept taking money from them while leaving his accounts active on the platforms where Stray Incubus was hosted.
To me, that doesn’t really give anyone a valid reason to go after him or question his integrity. That’s just my opinion on the matter, though.

I'll leave it up to you to form your own opinion with all the facts, in case you haven’t read this message left by the developer.
