That sword "fight" between Zycris and this rando royal guard elf is a perfect example of everything wrong with this update. The entire tournament goes off without a single frame or paragraph about any of the fights, aside from Yumi's loss which is done and dusted in seconds. Then there's the actual fight. First time I played it, on one frame Zycris is posing to start, on the next he's sat on his ass on the ground having apparently lost the fight. Wat. Surely that can't have been it, can it? Let me just roll back and... oh right, rollback's been disabled for no fucking reason. Now I have to load a previous save, CTRL up to the fight just to see...4 or 5 auto-playing (and skippable ?!?!) frames.
I mean, have these devs even read the plot so far? Did they miss the part where the MC is a complete Mary Sue that can stand up to a Goddess? And do they know how fights usually go? How there's tons of Zycris' inner monologue where he tries to read his opponents and strategizes accordingly? Hell, there are probably more frames of him thinking about the fights than actually fighting.
But oh, well. Maybe the fight wasn't the point. After all, he's there to protect the princess, not to win tourneys. Ok, so what does he think about it? Why did he lose in 1 hit? Did he do it on purpose? Maybe it was his plan to lose so he could build up rando elf's reputation? No. Nothing. 1 line about "Rando elf stronk" and it's off to the next tournament. We don't get any sort of justification, explanation, excuse- nothing. WTF?
If it was me, the bath and Torr v Annabelle scenes can be salvaged if improved but anything to do with the mission would've gotten the axe. From the very beggining- I mean, what kind of a kagemusha is Centoria supposed to be if she shows up walking around in public showing her face to everyone while accompanied by two random ninjas? Aside from the fact that it makes absolutely no sense that this princess would have a double when she keeps gallivanting all over the damn place while the double's developing her skills with ninjas in some other location. The fuck is the point of the double then? The princess should've been locked away from view of the public until Centoria is ready to take up the job -if- she's in any sort of danger at all. If she's not, why go through all the trouble? Bah, I didn't mean to rant anyway.
Look, like some have already pointed out, it's pretty grim "shooting down" new devs on their first foray but most if not all of the criticism I've read in the last couple of pages is valid- and if you're a fan of the game I think the biggest disservice you could do the devs is to convince them that this update is in any way good enough. It's just not. It's not anywhere near.

Just finished the new update, the new devs' style of writing and pacing is very different from the original dev, but I still enjoyed it. My 2 issues with it right now is not having the rollback option and the slide show scenes, either make them not skippable or just let the player click to progress them. They become a little annoying especially if you don't have the option to rollback. Other than that, I think it was a good first release for the new devs. As they gain experience, I am sure future updates will be better.
It's the new dev's first update, so no one is expecting the quality of Flynn, but when you have 12 chapters of content already, you would at the very least expect the devs to actually read the story and understand it. Especially if they worked on it for more than half a year.
I am not talking about the visual quality, it will be improved as they keep working on.
But the very least they could have done is provided a better narrative than whatever abomination they presented in this update.
Right now all it seems is like a cash grab by picking up a title they absolutely don't understand or care about.
They claim this update is based on plot developed by Flynn and his notes, so either Flynn miraculously lost his talent for writing engaging narratives after 12 chapters, or the new devs just took the notes and put together a bunch of scenes, rather than actually building the narrative
So if there are actual fans left communicate with the devs to rework the chapter not completely or visually just request them to expand the scenes with additional new renders and better improved dialogue.

I agree that the tournament fight scene was just bad/underwhelming, and only lasted 1-4 frames.
I'll wait for 2-3 more updates and come back and see what the new dev is doing with the game. Perhaps it will improve, and the game will be enjoyable, or it won't feel rushed in certain areas.
What dev is trying to make the MC super weak on purpose, or was it trying to make MC hide his true self from everyone during those fights? During the Magic fight, it shouldn't have even gotten to that point.

Centoria and the princess characters have already been butchered so if the chapter is not reworked to improve their storylines, it's hard to see how they can be narratively saved in the future updates.

According to the dev on discord, one of the reasons for the low render count per scene and rushed pacing is the new renders are of improved quality

I hope I'm just being oversensitive to the change in dev, but the MC was kind of lame compared to usual in this update.
It's subtle but he's usually calmer and more confident in himself. But him panicking and seemingly being surprised that their opponents attacked them in a fighting tournament is out of character. This is a guy who has calmly watched his friends get killed in simulated combat many times before while keeping his eye on the prize. When the princess gets hit he starts yelling her name in panic. He needs her to actually tell him to focus on the fight instead and he still yells cringy shit like ''You don't hurt Illya!''. Just really weird behavior for him.
Earlier there was a bath scene that was supposed to be about interrogating Jamie about important knowledge he might have about who the threat against them is. Instead, our MC doesn't bring it up at all the whole time and it has to be Jenny that barely mentions it at the end without getting any info. This is a guy we don't respect and don't care for but we can't insist he spills what he knows?
Sorceress mumbles suspicious stuff but again we just let it go and don't really think about it.

i saw the update and restart my save from S1 but when i started the new update everything was garbage , i mean the first scene was mehhh ... the second was so bad the i think the Animation killed itself and left just pictures / mc turned into some sissy with stupid brain and like just from level 100 to 1 during the fight / knight elf speaking with dick in his mouth / AND WHATS WITH ALL THE CAPSSSSS seriously /

Funny how some mention this whole transition being a cash grab when the Patreon doesn't even have enough patrons to be remotely profitable for the two devs. Anyways hopefully the development improves over time.

The new update has ruined the game! The main character looks like a retard, to put it bluntly. I don't feel like describing the rest of the disaster. I deleted it and forgot about it. It's a shame, it used to be a good game.
