This quote from Flynn always cracks me up when someone brings it up.You remember wrong!

Btw: Toxic Positivity has also killed many games.
I'm sorry but the expectation that devs are not allowed to have financial problems unless they're spending 40+ hours in a week developing a game(which most people here on the forum are not giving them a dime for) is just rank. "If he didn't complain about us not giving him money, put in even more time and effort, and spent years building up this game and others to grow his audience, he might've been able to have a little income" is a foul thing to say about someone who makes a thing you're enjoying for free. This quote from Flynn always cracks me up when someone brings it up.
"For career reasons" bro you blatantly admitted you were going to fuckin school and just like doing this on the side yet expected it to somehow float your expensive lifestyle as an expat in fucking Germany.
Pro tip: you don't have a career if you are still in fuckin school.
From what the dev has said in the past, my impression was always that this was a part time side thing he did in between chasing tail and going to classes and whatever the fuck else he likes to do. Does that sound like the 40-60 hours a week most of us put into our careers?
I wish these devs would stop bitching and moaning about the income when they don't treat it like a real career. If he was actually putting 40-60 hours a week into Stray Incubus it really could have grown into a respectable little income, and he probably could have parlayed it into other games and kept growing his fanbase.
New Devs clearly haven't got the hang of animations yet. I think it would have been better for them to learn that before releasing the update.Weak
The whole truth or dare game felt like a weird fit. At this point i'm starting to wonder if every avn developer has signed a contract that compels them to put the drink version of truth or dare in their games.View attachment 5316838
dude.....this is weird as shit
That was Flynn? I remember some dev talking about this quite a while ago. Had completely forgotten it was him. This quote from Flynn always cracks me up when someone brings it up.

The Dev went to University. And going to University is considered a full-time Job in Germany. You can do part-time Jobs, but those are restricted to a certain income/month. And going to University to get a degree is part of an career, only people who never went to University would not see it as part of an career. This quote from Flynn always cracks me up when someone brings it up.

Yes, but starting Uni without knowing how you're gonna pay for it, is really stupid. The Dev went to University. And going to University is considered a full-time Job in Germany. Do we know for a fact that he was trying to pay his entire tuition through the game? That sounds like a leap to me, unless there's more to this story than what's been said.Yes, but starting Uni without knowing how you're gonna pay for it, is really stupid.
He couldÄve found a part-time job, worked his 20 hours per week and if he was careful with his spending lived of that money.
He also could've applied for a stipend, though I don't know how his status as an expat might have influenced that.
I don't know if foreign students can even apply for BaFöG.
Anyway what I'm trying to say this whole scheme using Patreon to pay for his studies was hairbrained from the get go.
If he was already earning enough, it might have worked. But then he might've run into trouble with our IRS.
Also, there are ways to work full-time while studying. Which he would've had to use anyway, since he was basically self-employed. The moment he hit that 12096 Euro mark, he would've had to file for taxes and that would've been it.
They might've even gone as far as deporting him.
As I said, a really stupid idea.
who knows. i mean. you could try to contact him and ask him directly so we all don´t have to play a guessing game IF that´s been the case, OR we could actually go back and discuss the hideous changes to this game and story made by the CURRENT DevDo we know for a fact that he was trying to pay his entire tuition through the game? Mmm, fair, discussion of the previous dev's personal life is probably a bit OT. But at the same time, I think pretty much everything that can be said about the new update has been said. We just gotta wait and see how they go about addressing the mistakes and improving on what was done well.who knows. i mean. you could try to contact him and ask him directly so we all don´t have to play a guessing game IF that´s been the case, OR we could actually go back and discuss the hideous changes to this game and story made by the CURRENT Dev![]()
Oh crap what has happened? Feel free to spoil me. I'm trying to decide if I want to give this game a chance after the old dev went off into the sunset.who knows. i mean. you could try to contact him and ask him directly so we all don´t have to play a guessing game IF that´s been the case, OR we could actually go back and discuss the hideous changes to this game and story made by the CURRENT Dev![]()
Tldr a lot of people were unhappy with the latest update because it was weirdly choppy and didn't quite match the lore and character development of previous installments. Many players, myself included, felt it was missing a number of things to help flesh it out and give it the same charm as most of the previous episodes had.Oh crap what has happened? Thanks for the info. I played the game up until the original devs last update. I remember people getting all upset with me when I advised caution and expressed concern over a new dev taking over some months ago.Tldr a lot of people were unhappy with the latest update because it was weirdly choppy and didn't quite match the lore and character development of previous installments. The devs are addressing these problems and have stated they're going to work on an update to the episode, but only time will tell whether said update is satisfactory. All we can really do is wait until it's released and try to communicate with them to make sure the game lives up to its full potential.
If you want a more detailed explanation of some of the missteps, I did write a chapter review a couple pages back that might help explain it. Granted, some of it won't make sense if you haven't played the game already, but it should give you the broad strokes.
