Edit: Before anyone wastes their time reading this, I figured it out. If you can't figure out why you can't date your slaves, then this might help you.

I enjoyed this game before the update (not sure which update changed this)
I still do, but what's ruined for me is that I can no longer date my slaves other than the starting one.
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.
I tried giving the thread a search, but not really finding an answer.
Part of the fun for me with Strive for Power is having the option to build a relationship with your slaves before pegging them. Obviously, the "relationship" isn't anything deep or anything, but it was how I enjoyed the game before the update.
Can you only date Subordinates now? Can anyone help me understand this? Maybe I'm just playing the game wrong.

edit: I just remembered, you use to have to unlock "dating" but it was pretty easy to do so. Maybe it's still like that, but the menu has changed and I can't find it.

edit x 2: Oh I think I see now. From the looks of it, they need to be a "Subordinate" and you have to unlock dating with gold.
It also looks like for slaves, you use loyalty to unlock dating. This works for me.

has sex images this game? or text based only

The game has some images for certain events. There's also some actions such as spanking slaves during training that also have "generic" images, but those just serve the purpose of showing what's going on in the scene because it's really impossible for the game to know what your slave looks like without having thousands of image variants.. The event scenes are nice though and have much more detail. They're not really animated, but they do have phases so you're not looking at the same image through out the whole scene. I'd say this game is a good balance between text base and image based.

You can also mod the game to give your slaves portrait images. There's a large community mod pack that I like. This is how I prefer to play the game. The game will pick a random portrait for the slaves you meet, but you can always change the ones you don't like.

For example, one of my slaves uses this image : )

Here's the link to the mod if you're interested.

Ah yes good ol' imagepack.

This actually needs a "dynamic" paper doll style of sex images like what you see in the ERA games especially eraAS.

So can you make yourself a loli in this game yet or no?
There seem to be some race-specific restrictions, but yes, you certainly can start as a small and flat-chested female character. The game would not allow you to declare them a child - they're either "teen", "adult" or "mature" (which does not seem to affect what options are available for appearance).
The same rules apply to the first hireling you get, for a different value of "make yourself a loli".
Getting yourself further lolis is a matter of chance, but goblins you'll be catching at first tend to be small.

Yeah that would be neat. I'd probably still be hard to capture each motion since a lot of the different posses would still need to be redrawn, and support all the customization options. Paper doll style characters might end up looking stiff. Or maybe not, idk. I'm okay with what we have now, but I wouldn't be against it if they did manage to do something that looks nice.

Yeah you have to unlock the dating and service features with points earn from training. Took me a long while to figure out too cause the tutorial is lacking as hell

Yeah I think they're still updating so makes sense they're probably not wanting to make much tutorial on something that might end up changing. Once you figure out how things work, it gets better.

I wonder if there is any plan to change the combat system, which is inherited from the original Strive for Power (which itself is inspired by very old school RPG games). Changing it into some kind of 2D board-like turn-by-turn system like in Going Deeper seems more interesting and more in touch with the multiple jobs/skills that the game has at the moment: you could actually use the work jobs and field type (forest, cave, water) relevant in the game mechanics.

I heard that yes, there is work being done on combat system now.
I don't think it will change radically, but it will be thoroughly rebalanced.

Currently my game crashes on launch. It opens, the window size gets smaller, and then it crashes. The window is also titled "Strive for Power 2 (DEBUG)", which I find odd. Any fixes?

Edit - ran the console .bat, it threw up constant errors about not being able to open files or load resources.

How do you start making enough money to keep up with the debt? I've tried having all hired help out mining while mc is forging swords to sell, but that only gets me past the first payment. Am I missing something?

Honest work doesn't pay well, it's true.
I recommend taking quests on the quest board, and doing them instead.
Dungeon raiding is also a decent source of money. Don't forget - you can sell slaves you captured there right away, without making them join your roster or transporting them to the market.

While the debt can be paid with some serious strategy, it's not intended to be paid. Do quest board missions and follow the main quest (via the Servant's Guild leader), the debt gets dealt with as you progress.

Sex change potion does change character sex but only appearance and body description. If male change to female, they can't get pregnant due to they still count as male character

You need to ruthlessly optimize for money produced per unit of time. The jobs are not created equal in this regard.

Paying off the entire debt is possible, I've done it. You need to think like an evil bastard with a head full of half-remembered econ 101 lessons and a graphing calculator to the side of the desk. I'm not saying this is the only way to play the game, but if you like management sims, this is how you do it. If the words "hey hey, people" don't confer an instant Pavlovian response in your brain and if you haven't ever made a spreadsheet to optimize your gameplay strategy... maybe this isn't how you in particular have fun. But if that is your idea of fun, keep reading.

The market prices for resources don't fluctuate at all. Supply and demand no real, suck it, Adam Smithcels! Therefore, you need to be collecting the resources that are the most expensive per unit. Those take a little longer to collect per unit, but only a little. Rough stone and rough wood are only useful inasmuch as they are crafting ingredients. Mining iron, or better yet mithril produces much more $/turn. Magic wood and ironwood are harvested only a little slower than rough wood, but sell for several times more. Make sure to give your resource-collecting slaves ranks in worker and farmer; the resource collection bonuses for those classes are enormous, and make sure to equip them with the correct tool type for the resource they're collecting (yes this is a pain in the ass and the interface is bad), because again the bonus is enormous.

It's always better to get guild quests for a particular resource than it is to just sell the resource on the regular market. The guilds are always willing to buy the materials they specify in their quests at a huge markup, possibly because they were born retarded and are unaware of the existence of the market. In fact, the markup is so large that in many cases it is possible to buy the resources off the market and sell them back to the guild and still make a profit. The profit from doing this is slim, but in some cases it's worthwhile because it means you get cash instantaneously and the completed guild quests refresh the next day.

The very best possible guild quests are the ones where they request resources that can be bought for guild reputation. This is because completing guild quests also gives reputation, and you come close to neutral on guild reputation and far ahead on gold.

The slave request quests are tricky. The low and medium difficulty ones are generally OK, but the high difficulty ones that request multiple slaves are 100% a player trap because the payout doesn't scale with the number of slaves requested. Again, these quests pay a huge premium over normally selling the slaves, so it's generally worth it to look over the available slave request quests after looting a dungeon to see if the slaves you've accumulated fulfil any of the requirements, as selling them through the quest system can yield a several hundred or even thousand gold bonus vs. quick-selling them.

Try to pair dungeon clearing quests with monster killing quests of the same monster type (e.g. kill x number of undead when raiding a crypt). The one-shot combat quests where you go to a single location are better payout per turn than the dungeon clearing ones because they only take on turn, while a lengthy dungeon can be a multi-day operation. The assistance quests generally have the worst payout because the time they take to complete simply can't be whittled down short enough with character skills.
