To each their own, but there is a reasonable explanation for why men largely prefer women with low body counts. At the group level, both sexes are attracted to features in each other that indicate a good chance at reproductive success. For men this can be things like wide hips (for child birthing), while for women it can be things like access to cultural resources (which improve offspring's status). Meanwhile both are attracted to symmetrical features (signals good genetics/health). However, for men (once again, this is at the group level...I repeat, at the group level), there is a special consideration that does not exist for women, namely parental assurance. If being attracted to external indicators of low body count gives men even a small 1% better chance at having their genes move forward into the future, because they are more likely to be the fathers of those children, it means that the vast majority of men after a couple hundred generations (and the human race has been around for a lot longer than that) would be the products of those men's genes. That's just how evolution and statistics work.

So I understand why many players of this game are instinctively attracted to Vi and Amrit, since those two characters naturally display strong indicators of innocence and inexperience. Such men don't consciously decide who and what they like in the opposite sex, any more than their cavemen ancestors who didn't even have language do. And the most important point here is that not being attracted to someone isn't "bashing" or "looking down" on them. It's just being uninterested in them. And to that end, no woman deserves a man's attention, no matter how much some might try to gaslight you into believing otherwise (though truth be told, gaslighting is the nicest response I've gotten to turning a women down, but that's drifting too far off topic for this forum thread).

I understand a guy not liking promiscuity, for whatever reasons, and I completely understand and agree with them not wanting to marry a promiscuous woman, for obvious reasons, but ffs, not even wanting something casual with one or more and avoiding them like the plague is simply ridiculous. As long as both parties involved are tested for STDs and STIs and use protection or birth control, I see no problem whatsoever with enjoying life as a young or older person and wanting to have some fun too after all the hard work and stress at work.

Dude this is bullshit, kitchen psychology, are you from 200 years ago? Some of your points have a little bit of truth but its not like you consider to marry every women you have sex with. You could even turn your theory around, these girls have low(er) bodycounts because of less interrest of attractive guys in them, which could indicate that they are less fit to "give birth/attract males" or whatever you consider so utmost important.

All I will say about this is, just because you misread what was happening doesn't necessarily mean that it was "badly executed".

Perhaps not, and of course I can only state my own take on things. Still, that scene made me seriously debate whether to continue playing the game despite Kana still being my favorite LI (narrowly edging out Elspeth). In my opinion, that's a strong indication something went seriously awry.

You must have misunderstood my point about paternity assurance. The issue I am raising is that a significant number of children are not the biological offspring of their fathers in such cases. In short: maternity is guaranteed, while paternity is not. Any innate preference in men that is able to give better odds that their mate's offspring are theirs – i.e. by being attracted to younger and more innocent appearances in adult women – is going to have a significant effect moving forward in terms of human reproduction and the genetic makeup of the human race as it exists today.

And I don't make any moral claims about this attraction being right, wrong, natural, unnatural, or otherwise. This is simply the observed state of human sexual desire and reproduction at the level of populations and lineages, along with a reasonable explanation for such observations (this "attraction to chastity and sexual fidelity" is a long-standing hypothesis that has already made several novel predictions that have been borne out by experiments...for example, this preference was found even in the unlikely situation of men's choice of prostitutes in Indonesia from data analyzed back in the early 2000's). So...yeah. Of course individual variation in human sexual desire exists, which is why I make such a big deal about noting that the discussions I am attempting apply only at the group level.

If there is good evidence that suggests otherwise, then please share it briefly (this is already straying beyond the thread's topical boundaries, and other people should be able to discuss aspects of this VN and the upcoming update without a lengthy side debate making it harder for them to do so). I know, it sounds so simple, right? But in practice, that level of certainty is not available to the majority of the world's male population (either in present day, or in the past). Commercial DNA tests are only a decade or so old. And even now, not everyone has access to them (they are only available in wealthy countries), nor can everyone in those specific parts of the world afford them. Also, there is intense social stigma against suspecting your spouse of infidelity. And there are countries (such as France) in which DNA tests to check for paternity fraud are strictly against the law (only a judge can order one to be performed).

So the reality for the majority of people in the real world is much different than your simplistic advice suggests.

I was responding to someone else claiming that I was incorrect in stating that certain aspects of male sexual desire are driven by the need for reproductive success. So I presented some evidence in support of that. That's how things drifted off topic into that more academic discussion.
