For sure it's mostly related to the fact that this game has insane ressources fueled into it's development.

But I think that some people on F95 are forgetting that there are people that don't give a fuck about the "2 millions dollars kickstarter" since that money doesn't come from their pocket.
You think the reason people mention money is just because they're pointing at the money as the reason?
The money went to voice acting, went to 3d modeling, went to developing the game.

The disappointment regarding money isn't just that the game has 2 million dollars backing it. It's how it was spent, and the game received.

I follow quite a few early access games. I can tell you that even among the early access games, this game isn't that high up.

Maybe for you, but this is not the opinion of everyone.

You mean the game which is on Patreon since more than 3 years and when you click on "start the game" it redirect you to the patreon page of the creator ?
:ROFLMAO:Still beats subverse hands down.
Seriously, if you can't find the gallery mode of fallen doll you probably need to get your eyes checked.

Yeah exactly, in more than 3 years of development Fallen doll production can be summarized to 15/20 animations and nothing else, no gameplay at all. Quite impressive !

Stopping the banter here, I will try to not deviate from the main purpose of this topic which is talking about subverse.

It's a bit funny, that some people find weird that others people could see Subverse as a very good v0.1 game compared to everything else we can find on f95.

What's even more funnier, is that those are trying to prove their point by linking "good looking" games that also had and has a lot of ressources (sadly I can't calculate anything since graphtreon doesn't give me number for Fallen Doll, but looking that Fallen Doll's Patreon is ranked 2nd among Patreon Adult Games, I'm pretty sure dev don't lack ressources), but like Subverse, those games also have huge flaws and are incomplete promise right now.

I believe fallen doll is the correct direction a lewd game should take which is making porn the focus and other aspects icing on the cake, but you are right this is getting off topic so I will stop here as well.

Well I mean it's not like the actual gameplay of subverse is anything to write home about...

I perfectly agree with the fact that Subverse has some big flaws. But still, for a V 0.1 and compared to other games which are in the same state, then this game is probably one of the best available on F95zone (which is kinda easy since most of the 0.1 game posted here are either games with nearly no content and / or games developed with few resources).

I mean, just put yourself of some average user of this website :

- You are browsing F95 looking for new content

- If the game doesn't have a "completed" tag, you know that it will be in 90%+ of the case either a Renpy visual novel game with 10 mins of content or an RPGM game with the same 10 mins of content.

And then you find subverse :

- Which has the tag "unreal Engine"

- Which is fully-voiced

- Which has 4/6 hours of content for a V0.1

For the average user Subverse really stands out of all the crap you can find here. This is just what i wanted to highlight since the beginning. It's perfectly understandable to see people describing subverse as the "best game on F95".

I must admit, to this point I have taken your comments seriously. You got me there.
You just fell into his language trap.
With some thinking you can easily find that in his logic "spending three years and two millions to make a game's V0.1" is an advantage over other games, not shortcoming - now you know why this statement is ridiculous.

I'm just trying to explain a point of view, I didn't say that I'm sharing it, or that it is clever.

People are often overreacting here so.

I'm glad Subverse didn't go this direction.

Fallen Doll, and games like it, have the big problem of forcing the consumers to do the work of the developers for them. Imagine going to a movie theater and they say they have all of these premade scenes of a movie done, but you have to do all the camera work yourself to make the movie look good. The movie should be good already, that's what you paid for. You didn't go there to do the work for them. Or imagine playing something like Legend of Queen Opala, but the game made you color in Sparrow's linework yourself.

And while total control over the camera angles is theoretically a good thing to have, in practice you realize why most things don't operate this way, including real porn. Specifically, its because most angle looks like crap, and don't show things well. So games like this not only force consumers to do the developers work for them in making the porn look good, it really doesn't offer anything more in terms of good porn then if they just had pre-rendered the 1-3 angles said position looks good in as video files.

An added problem is that these sorts of "games" spend so long as these camera control systems, and getting everything to work on it, that they never actually make the game part of the game. Fallen Doll and Wild Life both suffer from this horribly. There's nothing to really play after years of development, and when you can spend all the time trying to findangle the camra to make the scenes look good, or just go up on a rule34 site and watch already premade videos, there is no reason to not do the latter. The latter is not only less work, but will almost always look better.

I would honestly say any other type of lewd game, from VNs to trainers, are better then games like Fallen Doll. Becuase they arre actually functional games, and don't spend all their time trying to get out of doing the one thing they are supposed to be doing, making good porn, by forcing it on the players.

That's your opinion. By this logic you could say you don't like 3D games at all.

Ok, but I don't know if anyone here made statement that Subverse is the best game on F95, even people who defend this game with their own body. All these statements about how great this game is are based on faith that v1.0 will be 10 times better since now it is v0.1. I'm not here to argue about how Subverse compares to other EA games here. I don't even play EA games. I am just amazed how people who actively play games in EA and are aware better than anyone else how promises prove to be empty at the end put so much blind faith in Subverse even when this build raises so many red flags. Maybe all this "but it's fully voiced" people should better stop playing games and buy themselves some audiobooks if that's what they are into.

I'm the same, For a 3D game, I prefer when the game reward me with a nicely made cutscene than with a sex-animation giving me free movement control.

From my point of view, the result is way better, and as an exemple, When I'm comparing :

- A sex animation from a 3D game like Honey Select

- An animation like the one rf96 is showing in his signature (Nagoonimation / Linkle)

I would prefer th second one all day.

The problem with Subverse is that their sex scene lack context, and they need to be longer and not just a 4/5 seconds loop. We know we will get those cutscenes as a reward of their "romance quest" but I do hope we will get a lot of those and not something like 1 per waifu.

Meh, I don't think Subverse is going to be the huge double digit million dollar hit. I'm not even sure it's going to make back the kick starter money. If the game reaches 5 millions or heck even 3 million sells I'd be shocked.
House Party apparently made $5 mil, so if a true indie can do that, imagine what FOW can do
