I know people love to shit on FOW for sake of shitting but they achieved in couple of years 10x more than some do with 8+ years of development.
Game having sizable roster with each lady having unique animations. 2 distinct game types. Fully voice acted on top of that. Some customization, light dating etc. All very impressive.
I'm glad it didn't turn out like most Unreal Games.

Extremely curious if Subverse actually breaks more into youtube reviews or whether journos pick up the game and shit on it for daring and attractive characters with nice boobies.
Most curious if Bricky does an actual 1.0 review too lol

Honnestly if this wasn't porn, it would be considered as one of Kickstarter scams
They outsorced the actual game, so they were left with animations that holds by a ducktape and broken dreams(not all unique, they were recycling one or two scenes since 5th update)...
character desings- okay that part actually kudos to them
voice acting- win for the talents more than the studio

without the porn it would be like Mighty Hero 9 and similar Okay games

I don't disagree. I wouldn't pay for a light space shooter with mobile game grid turn based combat. The game was promised to be a porn game. It was delivered as a porn game from start.

Don't mind too much the recycled animations. Look. Maybe you really like that scene but wished for other waifu to have it. Well, congrats - option to do so is there.
As for voice acting, I do think it's least necessary part of any game. However the fact its present and it's good just adds to the charm. Makes characters more memorable. Gives them more personality. Good voice acting can add a lot to the game. Take for example Hades 1. Fantastic game with some of the best voice acting I've heard.

‘they outsourced the game’ dunno how to tell ya but a lot of games, even the big AAA studios outsource. Or did you actually expect like 10-20 people to come up with this in 5 years?

no shit sherlock... i wasn't saying "its bad cuz they didn't do the game fully" more of "think about how much actual work they had" also there's lot of games done with 10 peoples and less ...
Mate you seems like big white knight for that game, hopes you'll have good time with it- just try to ease up on defending it against any negative comment

Even if it was 10 people and less, some devs just... get lazy. I refuse to believe that some unreal engine game devs who earn very good salary every month through patreon are incapable of delivering meaningful updates of their games.
F95 has a fair bit of those games here. Still in their early access and going "Oh look guys, we added couple of new animations to our sandbox mode. Dw tho story hasnt yet progressed one bit so you can enjoy walking in our empty, pointless world" (y)

It was cool that FOW released the game over time through 0.1-0.9 updates. Feedback from the community helped a lot. Difference between the original version and current one is day and night. Curious if 1.0 makes actual changes to the start too.

100% right I do agree with whole statement, just saying the fact its porn turns it instantly from OKAY to GREAT
I don't think they delivered considering the budget and time to cook, like Umemaro can solo do hour of top tier animation year by year... I do hope they will surprise and adult games will be once more than patreon/kickstarter scams that takes years to release 0,001 update with two new scenes

before misunderstanding I don't think Subverse is scam, like so far is miles ahead cuz its actually done game, but still the goalpost is so low

Its not really a defense if hes just stating facts.

Subverse is of the very few quality porn games avaialable. Not much really compares (Wildlife, miconisomi games, Lovecraft(before it turned into that gacha mess) are all quality porn games but again not many.

I seriously dont understand the hate for subverse, they are giving you a full game for the price we paid for (unlike Lovecraft), they delivered on their promises (some argue that the porn and story are unrelated, ok so they didnt meet everyones expectations), great voice acting (not even wildlife has this), full cinematics (what other porn game soes this), great comedy and a lenghty storyline, great sex scenes (some copmplain about unmovable camera, but this is self fixable with an unreal mod, some scenes look weird at different angles, but FOW has stated ongoing support and potentially an unlocked camera in game, we shall see on that part) and unlike wildlife or lovecraft, the cartoony 3d graphics ensures good performance on even low level gaming laptops. Again, why the hate?

I think the budget for the game was fine. I know, I know. What was it, 2-3mil budget? It sounds quite impressive on paper but then you get down to fact that they actively developed it for over 3 years. 3 years was the development from early access to now.
Then there's Kickstarter taking their cut. Then there's taxes taking their cut. Then there's having to pay for years team of 10-30 people. Then buying assets, outsourcing work etc. Over time that money evaporates. Hell, they are forced to rely on word of mouth for marketing. Alternatively outrage over having sex in their big western boobie game.
Which leads people to steam. Steam that takes 30% cut off the income.

So in my opinion, the budget they had more or less checks out or surpassed what they managed to make.
No idea if it's something people of old FOW wanted but times change unfortunately and current product they deliver is pretty good. Could be better as always but hey, compared to modern slops its a vast improvement.

I haven't followed Subverse's financing too closely, but if this is their only budget for 3 years, I'd say it's very low indeed.
I imagine they live in a country where life isn't very expensive, otherwise this budget would barely be enough to pay a few developers.

Longer than 3 years. 3 years is the early access period. Before that, they had to build the game from ground up, create assets and actually create the 0.1 version.
If they really had over that time a sizable dev team, 3 mil is very low for this game's scale.

To my knowledge their devs are all over the place. As you'd expect indie devs to be so the pay may vary.

If 3 mil was among like 1-4 people though? More than enough but game wouldn't be even halfway done.

Ume had game this year and annouced next one is Shoko and that milf sister from previous 2 movies, also released some new engine screenshots and said he has like 3 more movies in him before retirement

wouldnt really call them "games" even if they call them as such. they are just choose your path videos, good ones nonetheless. as for similar? i think they are pretty unique, being lengthy videos in in itself is quite rare. but if you like lengthy higher quality videos maybe check out derpixon, big green, double cream soft, blue arrow garden etc Miconisomi also has good games i think you may like.
