I kno right? It's almost like the information was publicly available, yet everyone else just dug into hyping it up as Mass Effect: XXX Edition. That sound an awful lot like Pandora.....
Well the space exploration system seems almost like a clone of the one from Mass Effect, so that hold true. If people expected a "entire" clone of the game, well that would be on them.I kno right? Even though the only part that mentioned Mass Effect were the comparison of the devotion/loyalty missions. And this bit from the FAQ's 2 years ago.

Subverse was supposed to release over a year ago as a completed game. They're only "not comparable" because Subverse already failed to live up to their standard. They failed, this is the backup plan to not be buried by failing the terms of the kickstarter. So then you can't even compare the two. Even more of a point actually. Shoulda done more homework.
Did they lie if it's not implemented in the game yet but will be? You know it's early access right? It's like just about any game on this site when it came in 0.1 version and the creator said it will be x, y & z.... By your standards you should jump on all of them and accuse them of lying? You rage on the game as it was a full release. You have no idea how it will be when done, nor does any of us really.Subverse was supposed to release over a year ago as a completed game. And "but it was always going to be a shovelware indie shmup game" isn't changing the fact they led people to believe by statements like "An unholy mixture of... tactical rpgs... and a sprinkle of eroge goodness" that "offering you lewd rewards when you actually win! The better you perform in combat, the more you explore, and the more you talk to your waifus -- the better your rewards get!" that this was going to be a companion focused, evolving dialogue, linear sandbox game.
They didn't meet this stated goal. Right here. Talking to your waifus does nothing. There is no relationship-companion system. They lied. The rest they "technically" can claim is just the shittiest, laziest version of the systems they hyped but not here. This is just a fucking lie.
You're like 0/15 here man, stay down. Your are if anything actively costing StudioFOW money with your shilling. If the game miraculously became what was promised in a from behind open skies redemption arc people are going to remember the name VValen and close their wallets.
This is a mechanics complete version of the game. Only material change will be adding (or removing) the additional upgrade layers to the ship as those are gated by a combat progression curve and putting more shit in the scene gallery. You've seen the whole game. And they can't go change it because of Voicework. There is no future where there is a rebuild rewrite of this game without nixing or rerecording the lions share of the voiceacting.Did they lie if it's not implemented in the game yet but will be?
If you don't know what "linear sandbox" is as a game design term this conversation might not be your speed.Uh... linear sandbox game? How does that exactly work out when they stated game would include "Mass Effect like exploration".
Just because there no evolving companion system in place now, or dialogue system doesn't mean it wont be. Have you read any of the response the devs made on feedback at all? This is a mechanics complete version of the game. The girls start at 100/100 "SLUTS LOL" and the game decides for you you have sex with them. No one is even arguing the fact or these failures of game design are present. But this right here is a lie in their marketing. They stated dialogue based progression, they stated narrative based progression. The pandora patchjob does neither. There is no companion system or evolving dialogue tree from talking to the girls. It isn't as simple as writing one, which they didn't initially so it's a lie in marketing, upon backlash of it's absence because it all has to be voiced; Easily thousands of lines of additional dialogue to flush out even the crudest of system for the girls they're obligated by kickstarter to include.

Can just as well argue even it reach 1.0 and deliver promised content. For some people it will never be good enough. It swing both ways.Ok, it's pointless. It's obvious that even when the game will be in v0.99 and won't meet any promised content there will still be people here that will claim you can't judge it because it's not a full game yet meanwhile giving it 5 stars because "it may be good at v1.0".
Thats a lot of words to say you don't know what you're talking about.Just because there no evolving companion system in place now, or dialogue system doesn't mean it wont be. Have you read any of the response the devs made on feedback at all?
Linear is basically a straight line from a to b, b to c, and so forth. A sandbox is where you roam around at your own whims...
I think you should google linear vs sandbox... seems you need to read up...
That's what kickstarter is though. If you back a project that doesn't have a gameplay demo that's on you. And it's not like these guys had any track record in making games. I haven't followed the kickstarter closely but it doesn't look like they lied. It's just that their first foray into game-making didn't produce a masterpiece. Real shocking, I know. But that's the risk you take when backing projects on kickstarter. There's an alternative perspective on this though, why didn't we have access to some gameplay and system prototypes before the fundraiser? Backers didn't have any idea of what they were getting two years ago.
Yeah that's uhh...cute. Rule me out of this one lmaoogiving it 5 stars because "it may be good at v1.0".
Well, he won't be banned if that's what you are implying, mods on this forum are not like mods on Studio FOW's discord.Yeah that's uhh...cute. Last guy that argued this much me ended up banned, making more accounts that also got banned, and just isn't around anymore.
Talking to to the ladies does do things, giving some dialogue one might call...character development. Almost like those ME games this just loves being compared to, but did you know everything about Garrus, Tali, and Wrex? Or did that take time too. You're so gung-ho on judging this and comparing it to completed games, you're just simply blind and can't appreciate what we got for a tiny bit of the game.
But feel free to keep being mad, I'm just gonna stick around and keep informing people of information that's actually out there.
Everything starts and ends with porn, that's the rule of the world. It's a porn game, why people get so upset and worked up? it's not the end of the world yet.
Doesn't mean you can criticize it obviously but chill.
I see what you did there. This game is an absolute 10/10. It has broken new ground and set an industry standard. The bar is far too high and nigh unreachable. The voice acting would put English theater actors to shame.
It’s writing..my it’s writing is Shakespearean worthy. Its comedy is golden, witty, and thought provoking. Truly many of the greatest writers of past and future can stand to take notes.
It's graphics would put a AAA studio to udder shame. The gameplay itself has so much depth and complexity that it makes other tactical games feel as if made by amateurs.
Subverse isn’t just game of the year, it’s not even the game of the century! It’s the freaking game of the millennium!
There will be no other like this game ever again in history.
That's true for every early access game, there will always be people who defend it from beginning to end, and people who hate on it from beginning to end; hell, that's true for everything in life, if you feel engaging in discussion is pointless because of the mere existence of diehards like that, then either don't participate in discussions at all or just go in to share your opinion without the expectation of changing anyone else's.Ok, it's pointless. I don't entirely agree. Judging you said giving it one star NOW is a bad thing suggests that in your opinion game doesn't deserve to be rated so harshly because of it's current state ( otherwise you wouldn't say "NOW"). I, however, believe that since reviews are editable we should be judging everything that for now is certain, that means everything we can see and experience ourselves. By that I mean not what Studio FOW is talking about their game, not what was promised in KS page, not what people are speculating, but only what the current version shows us. The only thing people agree on being good is VA, not something that should define a porn game. 1 star reviews are saying why it's so bad in their eyes based on what they are seeing. 5 star reviews are saying why it is so good based on what can come out of it in the future. Based on that I don't consider 1 star reviews and 5 star reviews being equivalently bad. That's true for every early access game, there will always be people who defend it from beginning to end, and people who hate on it from beginning to end; hell, that's true for everything in life, if you feel engaging in discussion is pointless because of the mere existence of diehards like that, then either don't participate in discussions at all or just go in to share your opinion without the expectation of changing anyone else's.
While I like the game, I recognize its flaws and will be holding off on giving it any sort of rating until it's at 1.0, because like every other Early Access game there's a lot of time for it to get better or worse. Frankly speaking, anyone giving it 1 star now is just as guilty of premature judgement as anyone giving it 5 stars.
