Meh, I don't think Subverse is going to be the huge double digit million dollar hit. I'm not even sure it's going to make back the kick starter money. If the game reaches 5 millions or heck even 3 million sells I'd be shocked.
Subverse made around 2mil USD on their kickstarter, at the current price point of 30 dollars they would need to sell 66,666 copies to make that back, and they have already sold over 25,000 based on top concurrent users on Steam.

much less someone pushing the technical AND content envelope like HydraFX Bewyx or Pewposterous
As much as I like both HydraFX and Pew, neither of them are pushing technical or content envelopes.

Their content looks the way it does because they are using Blender, which is naturally better at lighting and skin texture rendering then SFM, because that it what it was made for. That isn't on them, its on the software they are using.

Likewise, the content of their animations tends to be very slow, basic, sex scenes, lacking any real intensity compared to something like FOW's SFM movies, or Drills3D's videos, because Blender isn't very good at that. Even hydraFX's longer videos, like that 2B/9S one are just a few very basic, slow, low movement, loops stitched together.

NYL is pushing Blender harder on a technical level. But even then, you compare some of the newer Blender work

To one of his older SFM animations

And while the Blender animation has better lighting/texture rendering... the SFM animation actually shows far more technical development in terms of speed, and nuance of movements, then the Blender one does. This is becuase Blender really isn't good at that sort of thing, hence why you rarely if ever see longer, 30 minute long, blender animations.

It doesn't need to "make back" the kickstarter money. The funds from the kickstarter helped to realize the project. The early access help with a cash injection to complete it.

If you compare like Subverse to Huniepop double date on steamdb. Subverse beat Huniepop with like 10k peak players. (15k vs 25k). The estimate of ownership of copies is 20k higher for huniepop than for Subverse, but Huniepop been out for almost 2 months longer. Huniepop released as a full game with far more replayability than Subverse with its early access content.

So in terms of numbers it does look like Subverse off for a good start though...

According to steamdb the estimate is between 100k and 210k copies based on playtracker and 131k+ and 393k+ based on estimates of reviews (of which I guess they do estimates based on comparable results for other games).

Don't forget that Steam take a 30 % commission, and kickstarter is 8% plus a fixed little amont of money for each backer.

Yeah but even at 100k copies they would be close to 2m USD already after steam gotten theirs...

concurrent users are not the total though, estimated playtracker ownership is around 150.000 copies minus over 50k of bakers who got the keys for free so I think the game has legit at least 50-80k total owners?

In respect of the game price, is it worth buying the game now? I mean, will the price rise once it's fully released or will it stay the same? Because then we can all wait for a sale

As the game is right now I do not recommend it. It will be raised to 40$ I think once its completed but the chances of that ever happening are slim

Not to mention its a porn game, not a traditional game where sales are front ended.
This shit will keep on selling forever, infact more as content starts coming through.

I never bought a game on early access that later had the price go up.... What make you believe the price go up?

It just occurred to me that they would raise the price to a "full game" one when it's complete
That doesn't make any sense what so ever. If that would make any sense, and was a model they would go by, then every update would come as a dlc chapter everyone had to pay for...

The final result better be more than a few gif loops. Because that 40$ is going to play a huge role in how many sales the game is make.
