The rating of Subverse is abnormally low. Sure, for a AAA game it would maybe make sense but I believe that a honest reviewer would base their median based on the games present on F95 and this games beats most of them, it's easily in the top 100 games posted here. Its mostly from early reviews. Lotta folks had misconceptions about the game (The NTR tag is very much not applicable here, but enough people cried wolf til it got added). And a lot are just impatient people who wished FOW had just stuck to making movies.

Most reviews on f95zone doesn't mean anything. It is just like steam reviews.

But for this specific game if I am remembering correctly it was yet another ntr war coupled with people not liking how the game plays in general. For example I don't like how disconnected porn part is with the gameplay. They are like videos, completely seperated from gameplay but I didn't write a review yet as I don't like to write a review for unfinished games.

You might want to check reviews though, there might be a few reviews that explains the situation better than me.

Holy Christ. I finally got around to giving this a try, and I've gotta say...any of you brave souls who actually played through the entire game deserve a medal.

I have never seen such tryhard writing on this level before in my life. I get it; the game knows that it's a porn game and is trying to be self aware. But does it need to be so painfully cringe and over the top about it? Parody or not, it's hard to take it even vaguely seriously when characters are already calling each other fuccbois and being "WOW SO 18+ AND ADULT AMIRITE?" in every single sentence of every single fucking conversations. And all of that is to say nothing of the absurdly boring, simplistic gameplay.

This would all be tolerable if they blew it out of the park with the actual porn, but that definitely didn't happen. Its gameplay is trash, its story is even worse, and the porn is poorly integrated and not even all that hot. So what the hell is even the point? Anyone who actually paid $30 for this or backed their Kickstart got full blown scammed, lmao.

Honestly, what is it with porn game devs and these desperate flailings to make these "real" games anyway? Shame or something? I'm starting to lose count of all the games I've played that try to play this balancing act of good gameplay mixed with good porn, but ultimately suck at both.

And another reason would be that they cast a SFW actress for Kasidora and made her un-lewdable.
It was a stupid decision from the start of the devs.
And I am surprised how out of touch they are. It was clear from the beginning, that there are people that will lewd Kasidora.
But it is now impossible, to lewd her in game.

I'm extremely disappointed with the game and hope that they don't make any more games.

I've read them, that's why I posted my original comment in the first place. Most of the games here have poor writing, none existent game play and default sex scenes from honeyselect or koikatsu. I'm not saying this game deserves 5 stars but it sure as hell isn't bad enough to be rated at 2.5 stars.

The difference is the budget and the exception.

Players have a different exception between one single guy creating for the first time a game.
And a company that have gotten on kickstarter 2021 1.668.626£.

Thats why players will hold this game on a different level that an honeyselect or koikatsu game.

Its like school. With 50% your passes and can increase your score. And everything below 50% you failed and its a 1.

And you’re also taking into account the game isn’t done yet, I’d hope. Even now in its current state it still blows practically everything else on this site out of the water. I can’t go back to basic VN’s with no voice acting, Renpy models with slightly different haircuts, and combat mechanics that are basic as match 3 or click the right object in the background.

I NEVER complained yet about the long development time not here and not in another game.

There are 17.665 games on this website. And clearly there are many games of the 17.665 that are a waste of time.
