I bought this on Steam a long time ago, and was looking forward to the 1.0 launch. I've been playing it all weekend long. For the most part I enjoy it. However, it seems there are pieces left from when they changed things. Either that, or I don't get how somethings work.

They used to have separate devotion and exp. Now, it is just exp... but as far as I can see, gifts still give devotion. Or at least, I don't see the xp bar move at all when I give them half a dozen of their favorite gifts. Also, When I give them their favorite, it give me "300 heart". When I give them a generic gift, it gives me "500 no heart". There is no explanation.

Some parts of the captain's computer will show only recent photos of the girls if you just took them AND put them on the wall. Which means it would make more sense to just look at them in the wall gallery.

So far, the 'new clothes and hairstyles' I've unlocked (Act III) are just reshades or pallet-swaps.

The PANDORA scenes are the backbone of the porn in the game, but I don't know if this is going to continue, but they are dropping off fast. I got the cat girl last, and she had hardly any scenes in there. I think only one or two 2 point scenes, and the rest were all 1 point (short loop with no interaction).

In response to Illhoon, I can see how some people would count it as NTR. Your 'waifus' have sex with other women, toys, alien animals, and non-sentient organic drones that do 'drudge' work on the ship. Personally, I don't really see a problem with that or consider it NTR. Even when they are having sex with the 'drudges', the game usually indicates that the captain and Lily are remote controlling them. Even if they weren't, they are non-sentient. Anyway, I'm only at Act III, so there may be more I haven't seen, but that is as much as I've seen so far.

Apparently it's not a deadpool knockoff, this apparently annoys them a lot. It's a reference to something else, I forget, but also don't care because I don't believe them, or if it's true, then they did a terrible job with the reference since MC looks and acts like a wannabe Deadpool.

I do overall agree with you somewhat. I think they felt comfortable making pron so tried to focus on good gameplay, but everything feels so disparate and unconnected. They clearly did no research either. No in-story porn, just a buyable gallery? Uuuuh? They probably should have stuck to one gameplay loop that was similar and given that depth. The asteroids knock-off gets boring quick and the ground combat lacks depth and is terribly balanced. Lots of people complaining about boss fights on the steam forums.

IMO they should have just made an animated VN which would have better combined their need to make a game and their skill with making ero animations. Or something like the old Telltale games.

I hate railing on them since I used to be a huge fan of them, but this isn't a great look given it cost what made them popular to begin with.

I can see it, but it's a niche reference so of course no one got it. Not sure how they didn't immediately realize people would think it's a deadpool rip-off, especially with the way the MC acts and the current era. Their original inspiration was still a terrible choice regardless.

Yeah I was looking at the ratings and I was like 2 star? really? This is the most well-made game on here.
It actually has a proper bullet hell minigame, a turned-based combat, with well done 3d models, really good animations and proper VA. Apart from some of the Japanese games, this is as close as we have to an ACTUAL game if you know what I mean.
Half the VNs on here are absolute garbage with reused 3D models from 2002, no animations, no voice acting and look downright disgusting. You'd have to pay me to play them.

I get being mad that it didn't deliver as much as it was promising but
1. that's marketing like every other game, welcome to marketing

2. It's the first of it's kind to attempt AAA level, so for the 4 kickstarter backers on here: you knew were investing in uncharted territory BUT you also have to know that thanks to you this actually gives hope for other studios to make good shit - same way every other advancement (cars, phones...etc) is expensive and crappy at first then improves and cheapens. Point is, that's part of kickstarters. Sorry and thank you? I guess?

3. Unlike some other patreon creators, they released a full game and didn't just sit around collecting money for years. This level of product is what's expected from a team of that size. If you look at all your favorite animators, they released the same amount (or even less) of animations in that same time-span with close to the same amount of money. Except they didn't have a VAed script and a game built around them. The animations are not that much different in quality either.

IMO thinking Subverse is "bad", especially when compared to other games on here is just fucking delusional. If I had the money to buy this game a million times over, so that they kept making more high quality games and we could leave all this rpgmaker/renpy dogshit behind, I would.

I even like the rpgmaker/renpy you called "dogshit" more then this game.

Karryn's Prison, a 2d game made by two people using RPGM engine is a way better porn game. There are no excuses for shortcomings of this game, there is only copium.

If you want to get into furry territory as well, games like Prowler like are way more fun (and debatably hotter) and actually integrate the porn into the gameplay and plot. They managed to make an action game in RPGM, and it's only made by a few people. And if anyone wants to talk about production quality, then they can get pointed right to stuff like Wildlife which has way more porn while also offering you a lot of control over it too.

This game seriously just needed to pick a lane. The gameplay is boring and the story/dialogue is pure cringe, so all of that is just an obstacle getting in the way of the porn. But then the porn is also kinda mid and most of it is completely separate from the actual story, so what were they actually trying to do?

I'm in the same boat, looking forward to seeing the outfit's.

Hmm didn't realise I had Demi in the 20's on devotion.

You can goto Devotion by the locker in the locker room, or by clicking on Squad on the right side bottem bar to the right of Hanger bay on the bottem bay, after it activates.

not long after that you will be able to fly the ship through the gates and around solar systems.
It opens up in stagers.

On Subverse there are at least 5 Act's or maybe more,
like a stage play. Act 1,
you can take the girls up to Devotion level 10 Act 2,
you can take the girls up to Devotion level 20. etc.
If you keep going with a girl when she can't level the devotion points up,
the points are stored in what called, Blue Balled mode,
so when you get to the next Act the points stored are finely added.
I don't follow the story completely,
I fly to sytem one by one and clear every planet,
space station and anything else I find floating in space.
Scanning is done with right mouse buttion, also when investigating something,
pick the right girl for the mission,
it give's you tip's on how to find the right girl. For example,
a girl might need to be a sniper, and very Nimble. Or good at finding hidden tresure.

I finished playing this and I just see all the production mistakes, the biggest mistake they made was selling this as “Porn”, they clearly wanted to make a game, but they sold it as porn, and everything is mediocre, as a game it is not interesting, it is the same all the time, the cinematics are okay, but it is not porn, and the story is not engaging so in the end it even annoys.

They had everything to make something very good, the cast of characters was very good, just by making the gameplay much shorter, and adding good porn scenes, but what they got was that out of 180 cinematics only 9 were porn and of those only one was not vanilla.

I totally understand why they failed with the last collection, they no longer have the reputation or the prestige of before, this product was so poorly planned, that it would ultimately be the product that closes a professional video game studio.

I didn't even know there was more than 1 AI game I don't know where you get this AI thing from. I'm talking about the majority that are the same asset flip 3D models that look like a 2001 bootleg Shrek DVD made in a basement or Gmod fan animations from 10 years ago. Some are okay but most of them are uncanny and straight up nightmarish to me. If you think those models look better or the 4-frame stiff animations look better than the ones in Subverse I guess we have to agree to disagree. I like my shit properly animated, jiggly and looking polished. Same applies to the 2D stuff - half that shit looks like the artist JUST learned how to draw.

Studio FOW is a good animation studio that decided to shift effort into a porn game. I admit they obviously were disorganized and it's not exactly a mind-blowing game BUT my point is that for a first attempt, it's not bad and it's certainly better than most of the garbage out there. They actually put effort into making it look presentable too.

- The animations and 3D models are better than most games on here to the point where you have to compare them to solo Twitter/X animators. Unless you like that uncanny valley shit.

- It's grindy but even then it's properly made, not "click here then here to get money and oh! it's night time! click bed! now wake up and repeat!". You actually have to play the level to progress story, unlock the girl and the campaign levels are all noticeably different (like escaping the lasers for Fortune's quest) with proper models and animations for both the bullet hell and TBC sections.

- The writing is the same as most games on here. Some have better writing but a lot of those look like shit in the art department. Some also write 5000 pages filled with grammar mistakes and useless details to fake depth - that's just bloat.

Subverse either matches other NSFW games or does it better. Overall they made it look like they actually gave a shit about making a somewhat good product. Apart from STS or some of the Japanese games I don't see any that can match it as an overall package. If you know any please name them.

Also I'd rather have them make more but better so that the overall standard for porn games goes up - instead of just shitting on them. If my opinion is unpopular on a pirate porn forum then so be it - I'd prefer it honestly.
Subverse is as close as we can get to one of those top Twitter/X animators making a game and I'd rather encourage that than 20 years later and we're still jerking it to fuckin Gmod animations with shit writing and click based "minigames".

Right now there are just two outfits, the devotion quest reward and a level 40 look. More has been teased in past dev blogs and will be coming in the future.

Other game dont have budget this big, I dont mind sex scene separate from gameplay but at least make a fully 3d model sex scene with free camera view option instead just a clip
