They set out to make a shitty low budget game, but added some porn to it to make people throw money at them. Right now its a shitty game with shitty implemented porn.

I feel like there are some misunderstandings in this thread about what "a porn game" or "a game with porn" actually means. At first glance, I didn't even make any distinction between these phrases as they literally meant the same thing to me. At some point during the development, however, some people started emphasizing that Subverse was always MEANT to be a video game first, and an adult experience second, i.e. a "game with porn".
On the other hand, they think "a porn game" is your run-of-the-mill RPG Maker/2D sidescroller hentai game with static CGs and basic gameplay/visuals. That is, an adult experience first, game second...Well, what did you expect with the shoestring budgets these indie creators have? Of course they can't make a REAL game (TM) by themselves with just their monthly Patreon earnings of a few thousand USD at most.
I am certain the vast majority of backers expected Subverse to be an adult experience first, but with the added bonus of it feeling like an AA game with enjoyable gameplay and great visuals. I am tempted to make another poll about this silly discussion on semantics, but there has already been plenty of screenshot proof in previous pages that even the mods and devs have literally called it a "porn game" on Discord.

Doesn't change that hours of gameplay, dialogue, and cutscenes were added. If you didn't like the sex before, then this update was never gonna do anything for you, and you could have just kept waiting.

I'm pretty sure that the Steam crowd never heard of other porn games, or even Studio Fow's animations.
Hours of dialogs? Hours of cutscenes? Maybe one hour combined, and only if you are into listening one seriously overused joke. And of course thanks for hours of repetitive shmup and grid. On the other hand, i could have just started the game from begging and have same repetitive shmup and grid, without this ultra necessary update.

People keep repeating how tired they are of seeing the NTR argument but still push the "They were making a GAME WITH PORN, NOT A PORN GAME", as though they seriously believe Subverse got 2 million in funding because people weren't advertised a porn game. A porn game having gameplay does not mean it's not a porn game. We've been through this already. Rance has porn and it's still a fully fledged tactical RPG game. You know damn well when people saw the trailer about it being a sex adventure in space, people weren't celebrating it for being a video game. Fow didn't champion itself as the first triple AAA funded porn game and link all those Kotaku articles about it being one otherwise.
Dumb as shit bogus argument you two keep repeating.

Yeah a lot of companies were promising things in 2020 and then a pandemic happened. And lot of those companies work under the same roof. That's not really a critique you can throw at them.

First of all, that's a stupid argument to take. That's like saying nobody should be able to criticize any other video game, TV show, or movie. Yeah, just don't boy it.
Secondly, my post didn't even mention liking it or not. All I'm saying is your constant reply that they were making a video game and not a porn game is flawed. Studio Fow's staff has referred to it as a porn game on Steam and Discord, so YOUR argument doesn't stand. I already showed you this the last time you tried pulling this too. A porn game doesn't mean it can't have gameplay or story either. Rance and other big hentai franchises balance this out quite well, such as Rance. I also showed you this. I don't know why your brain goes into reset mode and you forget these points.

I don't get you, the stuff you're complaining about could easily be applied to any game. What did you want from this project? Does it have be Lord of the Rings to qualify for time spent?
I love to read your posts more than a game already. Find them more funny for sure.
Maybe that's the problem? You people take shitty games like norm, than one day all games become shitty, because all around people are coprophages.
I stated many times that if they already have a typical VN-style storytelling, and nothing of "porn ME" they bragged about, they can fucking look at VN games and understand that porn in games need plot. This game has no porn in it. So what is left? Boring side quests, repetitive jokes and thats all.

It's not flawed when the creators stated it several times themselves. It's a game foremost. It wouldn't matter if pandora is what it is, or if it had half hour clips with the extremes. You would still need to PLAY THE GAME to unlock those scenes. The game focus more on actual game play than straight up sexual content. I also told you several time, what a thing is and what you want it to be, is two different things too.
