Clowns are cool. I wouldn't have more than one in a game (NOT the MC, we figuratively see that too often).
And clowns are hot too:
Harley beats kittyslut any day (Batman. Duh.)
Any Eushully clown/jester was awesome. (I've seen 2? Juggler girl was epic)
Wes is sexy. OK maybe not Wes. (Don't Starve)

Game isn't abandoned, dev is just waiting until it's done to release the full thing instead of doing small updates.

Seems like the dev changed his mind and will release another trial as soon as he fixes whatever unity save bug is troubling him.
