Umm, was it my response to a rude complaint about the missing ETA that started a shitstorm that ultimately caused the thread to be locked up and scrubbed yesterday? If so, then I apologize.
I don't really know much about what happened after my post besides the fact that it got deleted with the post that I responded to and many other messages that followed.

We ended up with about 5 pages of discussion about development time, that forced the clean up due to the rule about derailing the thread with those discussions. The thread was locked because new posts were coming in on the same issue as the mod tried to clean up.

I doubt it was your post. I'd guess it was more about the rude complaints themselves. That, and the people posting them deliberately ignoring forum rules despite several people pointing them out. Hopefully they finally got the hint and will stop derailing the thread with dev hate and complaints about development time.

I was thinking that maybe someone with more willpower than me could open an off-topic thread where we could make jokes and discuss other stuff safely.
No kidding. There needs to be an off-topic thread. If the whiners want an unmoderated outlet, that's where it should be. Not here.

Looks like there was a purge in here, the OP has also been updated with a warning text in the aftermath. Apologies for creating a situation that attracts negativity. :HideThePain:

Who was it that collected all the previews and special renders? It would be great if you could add a link in the OP so that they're readily accessible :(
The post including them was added to the OP some time ago by mods. It was called Bonus, like someone mentioned before, but I'll change it to Monthly Specials. (y)

Jericho, how heavy, man.

People already understood... no interesting comments, just the same old boring comments about Miss Hill's boobs, understood over and out.

Finished that topic, this comment was unnecessary and I was not going to say anything else, but since you like the last word, you always had to clarify it: You are just a fool who thinks you are right... people only support your comments because they are you spend many hours here.

Enjoy your boring thread.

Kind regards:coffee:

Hello, everyone!

We are nearing the end of the development of CH05. If everything works out well, we are realistically looking at a September/early October release. We still don't have an exact release date due to all the different variables involved, but in the next few weeks these variables will get smaller and smaller. There are roughly 300 renders remaining before we can move onto the final part of development. This includes more playtesting, editing, fixing, polish, beta testing and final touches.

Renders

A couple hundred renders came out of the queue this week, and many were created to bring the queue back up to 100+. Early in the chapter we dipped our toes into the night content to get a feel for the darker scenes. It was a big learning process and also a challenge, but at this point we're pretty comfortable working in the dark. The monthly specials have also served as a testing ground for us, which has helped a lot in learning the dark secrets of rendering.

Only a couple of scenes remain to create renders for now, and we're looking to start the final scene by next week!

Coding and SFX

One of the simplest tasks, but also one of the most time-consuming... the SFX. Sourcing sound effects for specific moments is often a task in itself, but creating a detailed soundscape is something we thoroughly enjoy! Naturally, those who play the game on quiet mode with one hand won't get to hear it, but for everyone else, we hope the world feels much more alive as a result.

Aside from SFX, we also made some small edits to the Ember content and dialogue while coding this week.

Scripting 0.6

We've also finished a rough draft for the script of 0.6, based off our outline. This means after the launch of CH05, we'll be able to speedrun the screenwriting process, which is definitely something we're looking forward to a lot after this update cycle.

Cheers!

Thanks for share, Paynne. Only bad news is this practically confirm ch. 5 will be the only release this year. Quite a bummer after a amazing first year with 4 chapters released but it is what it is.

Anyway, hope will be a great chapter but a one time thing and they will go back on track with releases more reasonable in amount of content and time after this
