Unfortunately, it won't happen... I'm almost certain that they'll stay with the secondary girls just to "have content", the main ones probably only in 0.8 onwards, that's with luck...

Well, I'm talking about the story improving, not getting lewds with the main girls. There are many ways that the story can improve enough to hold my interest. Sure, progressing with the main girls would be one such way, but it's not the only way.

This honestly should have just been a slice of life story about the relationships with the women at art camp. It didn't need the corrupt cop/strip club/money thing. Instead we get eye candy of the main girls, lewds with side content, because once lewds happen with the main cast, all the pretense is gone so it's in the dev's interest to delay it as long as possible.

i actually agree that the game could have focused solely on slice-of-life relationships at the art camp, which would have kept the story tight and centered on the main girls. but, I think the devs may have added like the corrupt cop/money subplot to give the story more complexity and stakes.
who knows maybe it is a way to help the MC to get closer more with the girls
delaying 'lewd' content with the main girls can be frustrating to some, but building tension before payoff could make those moments more meaningful when they finally happen. As long as the devs balance these side plots with the core focus on the girls, I think it can still work out

Agreed, for me any story that ends up with any sort of shady criminal/gang/company/government/"you called me a doo doo head when we were kids so now I'll kill everyone you love" kind of thing only ever kill any interest I have. There are exceptions that I like despite those things but characters have to be strong for that.
Personally just not interested in the threat of a LI being injured or killed because crime is happening. Any drama you want can easily come from this not being a harem game, be a fuckboi with all or just a few and shit goes south with them. There are also plenty of main girls so adding a whole bunch of side girls, for me personally, Is not interesting.
