Status Update #49


Hello there!


This week has been editing focused, with many render fixes and lighting changes as well. Necessary optimizations were made for rendering speeds. This one always feels like a proper chore with many scenes being opened, edited and saved. Not as bad as moving a wall by a few units in hundreds of renders in 0.5 though. That was dreary. 0.6 also had messed up outside environments, which weren't very fun to troubleshoot.

A couple of surviving typos from the 0.5 content were also fixed. If you ever spot a render mistake or a typo, please report it! Some may be intentional mistakes or quirks in speech, but a lot of mistakes slip by too.

Some rough edges were rounded out, literally. Or if put simply, polished. Size rework on some UI elements and other adaptations was also done. The Freeplay code merger has mostly been a success otherwise. No bugs detected, yet. This framework will be scalable for the future and we can easily expand on features that might be popular or well received. Like more fun clothing options for the girls, for example. Or wigs for Helen.

We did have to cut one small design effect from the laptop UI as it had a small delay on button hovers. It looked pretty smooth and cool with a random tilt but also gave an impression of lag if used with rapid movement. Very sad. Back to reality and normal Ren'Py AVN stuff.

The render queue has been popping off and we're thinking of posting the next preview of 0.7. We were thinking of previewing one of the more intimate scenes in the update, which brings us to a few questions...

How much do you like to know or see before playing new updates? Do you like to know whose scenes will be more lewd or in focus? These questions will also have minor effect on future status updates when we're working on the scenes and decide what to talk about and report on. [Naughty Fox Games will remember this answer]

Previews and bits of infos should always give something to discuss - imo. That being said I would like to know *who* is in focus but not *what*. E.g. "we are doing a scene with Eve, the best girl" and not "Eves ass gets some proper focus right now, as it should be"

Damn, every time gooners discuss the virginity of women, I get a cringe. Who cares about the virginity of fictional painted characters who were molded from ready-made templates on the Daz engine? Are you out of your mind? Are you really serious about discussing this?
Then why are you playing a game with the same fake fictional painted characters? I assume because you use your imagination to suspend disbelief, to get emotionally invested in the story, etc.

So maybe glass houses and all that?
