I downloaded the new version and I have a small problem. Only saves from the "Eve hard sub + Cassie love" track were loaded in the game. Instead of the rest, there are empty spaces. Is this a bug or is there simply no new content for the remaining tracks?

I've seen too this "problem". I don't remember if some of the paths are not giving the name, but most of them when you follow the path it changes the name when the conditions are met. The names are not always exactly the same as the chosen path but similar. You can change the name from the textbox above, before hitting save. You almost cannot see the cursor because of the colors that game use on the save screen.

It's not about the lack of a name. There are no complete saves, only empty spaces. Out of about 60 saves, 20 remain. Only one track.

I don't understand "there are no complete saves". The saves you're doing, of course they are not. The game come with empty spaces.
If you reffer to the number of pages where you can save the game, then the pages over "9" are accessable only by clicking the arrows from the bottom. I just clicked many times the arrow to the right of number "9" and just got me beyond page 100 (each page with 12 locations) (or I still didn't understand your question).

Dev Update #277

ep6_sc10_196.jpg

Scene 30.

I've been pretty busy this week and progress has been limited But still, progress there is. I posed some more shots and reworked a few paragraphs. I'm at shot #68 and I've reached the point in the script where I think of inserting my first animation. So I'm working on it.

Animations.

I thought about it all week and I think I'm going to try both software. It will take more time but that's what will be the more beneficial. I have great hopes to make something decent with Blender and will start with that option. My first objective is to get my Blender renders to look as close as possible to my Iray images. If I fail, I'll switch back to Daz. It will be a technical loss, but at least, the look and feel will be preserved. I've been watching and reading Blender tutorials all week long and trying various stuff. It's time to put it to use. I expect a steep learning curve but some great benefits to come.

Rendering.

Rendering is going at a steady pace. Currently up to shot #37. Honestly. It looks good to me. The light is very flat, because of the main light at the center of the room. It's a design flaw I inflicted upon myself right when I created the set 5 years ago, and I cannot change that. However, I do my best to add some highlights and shadows to make it more interesting. Some shots are looking pretty good. I hope I can keep it consistent over the whole scene.

Steam.

The Steam release is approaching. I initially wanted to release it on Christmas but I've been told it's a very bad idea. So bad that Steam won't even allow me to schedule the release for that date. It's a matter of work day and support apparently. So I'm going to postpone it to January the 2nd. The version I'll release on Steam will be v0.6.5b.

The quick sum up :

  • Day 6 Part 6 will contain 3 new scenes: scenes 30, 31, and 32.
  • Day 6 Part 6 will contain 1 reworked scene: Day 2, scene 3.
  • 5060 words of new content so far.
  • 149 shots are planned, 68 are posed, 37 are rendered.
  • I'm currently posing scene 30.

Dev Update #278

ep6_sc29_096.jpg

Despair and suffering.

It has been a very painful and frustrating week.

I spent about three days with Blender, trying to get my set and my characters to work properly on that software. And I kind of succeeded. But kind of only. The results are not close enough to the original look and feel of the images I render with Daz and Iray. The light and the textures look different, everything looks different, and that difference is jarring. I believe that it's something that can be worked on, but that would require a knowledge of Blender way deeper than mine, and most likely, a lot of time. So I can't use Blender for my animations and I'll have to work with Daz.

I don't feel like I have wasted my time, however. I learned a lot during these three days and it made me want to go further. I will most likely keep trying stuff in Blender. Eventually, someday I'll know enough to use it properly. If not for the animations of Summer Scent, perhaps for a hypothetical next game.

After that defeat at the hands of Blender, I switched stance and got into the Daz animation wagon. And it's excruciating, as expected. However... I managed to do something. I invested two days of work into that thing, and it moved. It's not great, but it will do.

I'll consider it, and most likely all the animation I'll come up with in the near future, as placeholders. Until I get better at this or find a better technological solution.

I will also have to find another way to post-process my images. 10 seconds of animation means about 300 images. I plan to have three, maybe 4 animations in this update... So a lot of renders to edit and I refuse to do this manually anymore, as it's a painfully boring process. I will have to find a way to automatize the process, and that most likely means changing the software.

Anyway, my first animation is posed, and I have yet to render it. I need to run some tests to define some appropriate settings. Rendering that thing will take quite some time.

Steam.

As I already announced, the game will be available on Steam on January 2nd. This will have some consequences on the price of the game. On Itch, I will raise the price to match Steam's. On Subscribe Star, I will have to change the perks. The full game will no longer be available for the Gunners, and maybe even the Sailing Masters. They will however have access to the update files.

I'm not yet sure how I will price the game. A lot of voices are advising me to price it higher than what I initially planned. I'm going to look at what other games do and see.

The quick sum up :

  • Day 6 Part 6 will contain 3 new scenes: scenes 30, 31, and 32.
  • Day 6 Part 6 will contain 1 reworked scene: Day 2, scene 3.
  • 5060 words of new content so far.
  • 149 shots are planned, 70 are posed, 64 are rendered.
  • 1 animation has been posed. 10 seconds, 300 frames.
  • I'm currently posing scene 30.

Dev Update #279

ep6_sc10_196.jpg

That last week of the year is always very busy with family stuff and festivities. As every year, my productivity has been brought to near zero and it will most likely stay like that until January 2nd and the release of the game on Steam.

Animations

After 90 hours of rendering, I finally assembled my first animation... and it's a disaster. I'll have to repose some elements and rerender the whole thing. It's excessively difficult to have a decent preview in Daz as the viewport is very laggy in animation mode, and rendering a preview takes 3 to 4 hours. I should have taken that time though, because here I am now, with 90 hours of rendering wasted. Maybe I'm too ambitious. Maybe I should aim for some shorter loops first. But I despise those 1 seconds pump action clips. I'm not sure what to do anymore.

I also worked on a second animation that proved too difficult to pose properly for my current skills, I'll have to reframe it to exclude some problematic parts. I'm not going to make the same mistake twice however and will render a preview first, just to make sure it's not utterly worthless.

The amount of time needed to render these animations is insane. I'm not sure it's really worth it.

Steam.

The build for Steam has been deployed. The game will be priced at $14.99. I have to look into regional pricing as I've been told that it might need some manual tweaking.

I hope you all had a wonderful and Merry Christmas, and I wish you all a Happy New Year.

  • 2 animations have been posed. 16 seconds, 540 frames.
  • I'm currently posing scene 30.

Well, it's obvious, no? My name here is Tremonia.
I have honestly no idea what that means.
I'd buy it but I get the feeling if the steam launch isn't a success the dev will abandon the game.

Some of the dev logs haven't inspired much confidence tbh.
I don't have much confidence either. I've paid for an update here and there, as I honestly like the game, but it has too much branching for this dev, and the routes that I like haven't gotten much content for a long ass while now other than a few scene reworks. Dev times are too slow.
