Maybe the plan is to add the evening sequence after the scene with mia which has not been added. The scene is delayed behind another rather than omitted?

That's my guess too, that there's a sequence with Mia planned there after which the game proceeds to the evening at home. It's just unfortunate decision imo to push it out in such state because it can easily make the already pretty short update appear even shorter to the player.
the new content is good and fun, but yes, I would expect a little more
