Might be. But is that a bad thing? I like games where all the characters, especially the LI of course, are cute, or at least decent. Of course, not everyone has to be a top model. But one doesn't necessarily have to be fat as a gorilla (there are also chubby women and men who are very attractive) or ugly as night either. Just like in real life. Let's take the classic nerdy "wallflowers" (deutsch: "Mauerblümchen), for example, as there is at least one in almost every school class. They often have little self-confidence, because of fragile family or bullying and something similar. But often they are turn out to be a beautiful swan as soon as they come out of their peel.

I think it's good when all the characters look good too. I like to be spoiled for choice, also because you don't get to see everything in one playthrough. That calls for replay value.

(you can add every girl you like on Nojiko's place)
There is only one thing that's worse than make all female characters beautiful; don't make them at all and use black silhouettes (shadows) of other people in a scene.

The MC isn't a blank hull that is compatible with every character beyond a fling/FWB.

And the most important variable is Victoria.
Maja would ALWAYS choose Victoria over the MC.

And it doesn't matter if the player likes Victoria or not.
Victoria likes the MC, and Victoria's feelings and well-being are what's important to Maja.


Marla's role doesn't come from being stunning on the outside. She isn't a classy porn trope "Milf."
She's what you'd find under the category "Mature".

And more important, looking good doesn't make you an LI.
The story behind the person determines if you get to be one.


And because I rewrite things in the BG (Future Chapters), there's always a small chance for a previous Non-LI to become one.
But the chance for some is extremely low.

I'm actively trying to zoom through Zara scenes because that "Monica Bellucci in her prime" model absolutely ruins my immersion. I just don't think using a real actors likeness is a good idea.

Thank you Ocean, your reply clearly shows, you are a person who has a complex deep personality and thoughts. Clear and concise answer, yes, it makes sense, both for Maja and Marla.
Nevertheless this creates a rather tragic ambiguity regarding Maja. You see, exactly her selfless trait regarding Victoria makes her a more than just a fling type of LI. A girl with such depth, with a such a caring personality for me is more than worhty to be a LI. I think exactly the opposite implementation would make more sense: she shouldn't be lewdable, but should have a not so happy ending, where she HAS to choose between her strong feelings towards the MC or her selfless attitude towards Victoria. She is really LI material from my perspective, exactly because of the possible inner conflict.

Man, I'm just glad that we have a dev that actually bothers to pay attention attention to background characters, for a change.
There's so many gorgeous looking VNs that have awesome detailed and unique models among its main cast, then you see in the background 'npc's' with weird goblin expressions and cartoony proportions, clothes with questionable colours and textures and skin textures that make them look as if they were made of clay.

That's why in SG and WiAB I enjoy looking at renders where characters do something as simple as riding the bus or being at a bar, the attention to bg characters make the whole scenes more natural and visually attractive.

That only proves that an AVN isn't only sex, sex, under any circumstances sex... Story and good believeble and credible characters can make a story much better. Findind the right time for sex is a science on his own. Little bit earlier is sometime better then being declared a blueball simulator... All we know is that this game is only at the end of first part (chapter 1 - 5), and with the full version of chapter 5 we are finished with rework and than we go fresh on new part of the game and only new content. It will shave few weeks of development time.

A bit of a breath of fresh air to have a developer that prioritizes quality over everything else. Some LIs aren't for people looking for quick sexual gratification, and some LIs aren't for people looking for a simple love story or a simple girl. This isn't a dating sim.

There are tons of beautiful girls in the world, especially in university settings where we're all clumped together. It's actually kind of realistic for there to be attractive background models(ok, maybe not every single character... I'm actually in favour of adding some blandness/ugliness for realism's sake lol) because, guys... and I hate to be the one to break it to all of you, but you won't be able to pursue every single girl that you find interesting or attractive. Attractive models do not = sex scenes or relationships at some point in the future. That's not how life works.

Just because someone's physically attractive, or great at sex... does not mean that a relationship will ever work. I feel like a lot of people are going to be very disappointed in the future when they realize that they won't be able to pursue anything meaningful with the characters that they'd hooked up with. This MC isn't a blank slate... he has his own personality, and that personality just isn't compatible with everyone(and they just may not be important enough for the story lol, there's also that)ღ

The only thing that confuses me is that the patch changes Vic and Maja from friends to sisters, I thought that was to potentially set up a throuple but obviously not, so I'm wondering if Maja and Vic become an item by the end if MC chooses a different LI than Vic, maybe it only happens if MC and Nami end up together as that incestuous pairing (in the patched version) inspires Maja and Vic to accept their incestuous (in the patched version) feelings for each other.

I have no feelings either way over Marla being an LI, I have no interest in her personally. But I would say that this shows how devs can't win sometimes, on one hand Ocean is being criticised for making every character too good looking, and then on the other hand he's being criticised for having an LI who is not as good looking as non-LIs.

Seriously, he is really being criticized for making models too appealing to one's eye??? People are just tards. I am really happy that there are creations, where one sees beautiful people and not those wokeified intentionally ugly character models like in todays western AAA games. I really cherish the artistic beauty of this game. There are many good games like this one, still the visuals and presentation in this one, are one of a kind. When playing I get so immersed in the visual setting, I almost forget that I am watching it through a monitor. No other VN is capable of this.
