Yes, i don´t doubt about Ocean´s talent , i know the story is excellent and the renders are uniques, but the news about the songs licenses problems and all the changes in the jacuzzi scene and all of that make me to be a little worried. Of course this is only a feeling becouse i haven´t played the game so
Well, WiaB basically starts with lewds, so I think Ocean will let Nika grow up at a belieavble pace. Let's face it, no one buying it on steam will believe for a second that SG will remain SFW, and will be clamouring for faster development.

Just to clarify, I'm not 'Hating' on Summer's Gone. I honestly think it's one of the best AVNs out there. I was only expressing my disappointment in Chapter 5 beta. Up to this point, everything has been spot on.
I'm not overly keen on the synergy between SG and WiaB, though.
I have no interest in playing WiaB so will most likely miss any spoilers or characters connected between the games, which kind of spoils things tbh; knowing that people or conversations in WiaB might reveal secrets or something vital to the overall plot that isn't specifically mentioned in Summer's Gone.
The whole overall rationale of Ocean's games is that they all occupy the same world, so everything is really one big story. It's incredibly ambitious. The Star Wars reference I made has a parallel here as well. Not knowing what happened in the phantom menace in no way spoil empire strikes back. Mad rabid fans, like me, will enjoy the whole lot, but ultimately the plot isn't about the dynasties of Wollust - that a subtext. The plot is about Nika, and I doubt Ocean will make it impossible to play or enjoy without knowing all the trivia.

I once read a sci-fi series starting at book two because the library lost book one. It was actually cooler without book one, the mystery was intense, but the plot was still understandable..

Am I honestly the only person that was really disappointed with the Chapter 5 Update??
I thought 4.5 had a decent amount of content, AND some storyline choices with everyone's favourite ginger Waifu!
Chapter 5 felt rushed, even though Ocean had a whole YEAR to come up with something longer than around 20 minutes of play time with little action.
Heck, even the recent Being a DIK episode had around an hour and a half of play time, and a really good side-story.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Summer's Gone, I was even a Patreon, but this update was a deal-breaker for me.
I've just turned 47. If Ocean carries on at this rate, I'm going to be 80 by the time Summer's Gone is finished!!!
Well, I'd gladly meet up with you in the old folks home if and when SG The Final Chapter drops (provided I'm still alive). Alas, I fear by then I will no longer understand what an SG is, and would need someone to read the story loudly to me while I dribble down my bed pillow.

I'll be ripe as well :sneaky: I'll even pretend my dribbling is caused by excitment, rather than just a normal daily occurance at that point.

The only saving grace is technology ages far more quickly than I do.

Well, it's the old story of it being it is what it is. I honestly prefer SG at it's current pace and standard, even if I never see anything approaching its conclusion, rather than a rushed, half-arsed, but completed AVN.

100% agreed. My comment about technology is that Ocean won't ever buy a slower computer with a worse version of Daz than he has now, and Ocean won't make as many boob sculpt mistakes in the future as he does now - future Ocean willl just have own that he really wanted everything supersized ...or learned from his lessons :sneaky: I'd rather it is done right, but just looking at the time saving from one software update, well, how much faster do computers get? In my work, what I'm doing now with software was unthinkable as a student. In my work, 4 years ago, the computer was my ceiling. The computer I have now waits for me to make decisions more often than not - I'm now the weak link, and productivity is much better. Technology isn't a magic wand, but it does keep getting faster at crunching numbers.

I think SG would be more shallow without Wiab, its a big part of the mystery. Playing both avns sometimes feels like watching "Lost" as a teenager.

I dont see it as two seperate avns and even less as two storys. Its one big story, from SG-perspective Wiab is just a huge flashback exploring exactly what the title describes.

Ocean is really good at world- and characterbuilding and development (maybe the best in the genre) and obviously renders and atmosphere and it shows.

A former poster critizied (too) many open plots and not enough answers but thats kinda a part i like about it, not everything is drawn out and i think we (unfortunaly haha) have to wait a loooooooooooooong time for some conclusions.

I would be very surprised if Nika and Nami's origin is uncovered before chapter 20, i could even see something like Ocean throwing in a red herring like introducing a Mr. or Mrs. Cyrus in wiab just to reveal later that they were fakeparents and Nika and Nami are indeed willy & leia's kids (sorry i dont want to open another discussion about this, just a thought lol).

We just have to hope ocean has it better planned than the "Lost" creators or the worst offender i watched in more recent times was the tv-series "Blacklist" regarding mysterys and reveals.

My dude! :KEK:
That's right, the spirit of "Lost" is present throughout the game, as is the sharp division of the audience between those who love this approach to storytelling and those who hate it. But the similarity to "Blacklist," especially in terms of the intricacy of the plot, is also an excellent observation. Cool, I somehow didn’t think about this until you wrote.

My best possible guess is prolly ghosting again.... lol

or... Is it an indirect way of saying "go to Hell" to Emilia?
There's no need to assume Willi's not around. There is no reason for him to have been seen in SG yet. Just like Vanessa mentions Nika doesn't move in her kind of social circles, Nika doesn't move in Willi's. It's entirely plausible he' living in Wollust, running the dojo with Miru. Currently most people are favouring the idea that Ayua Zane is Miru's daughter ...which means either Willi or Dylan have to be the dad - or possibly Lucas (we know Scarlet is an aunt, but is Uncle Joe Dylan's brother or brother in law?) But given Willi and Miru spoke about opening a gyme, it's entirely likely they did, and that where Nika might see see Miru and or Willi. It's be interesting to see how the training with Ayua goes in any case.

I feel like its more plausible that Willy&Miru&Leia (+Zoey and the rest) are running Stripclubs, Drug-Buisness, Porn-Studios and plushy teddy bear companys (likely all of it) while having a Dojo as a Sidegig lol.

Leia was already uber-rich in the beginning of wiab and i suspect Dylan was involved in a lot of shady stuff anyway, i can see the Zane wealth only growing until SG.

Maybe Willy/Leia/Miru were in prision (again) for a time, that could be a explanation for no contact (again lol).

At this point there isnt anything to speculate about the gym imo, its a Zane-gym as mentioned by Ayua, of course its owned by Miru/William/Leia.

Visiting the Gym with ayua, the cabin with amber and the holgerson-gala are my most anticipated events for the next chapters

The thing more disappointing than those "Haters" is your response its one thing to respond to them at all but to completely disregard their whole point and thinking you solved something is outrageous some of them raise valid points about the game's development and some people including myself just cut support after 6 months because there was so little content to put my arm around now i did make a post here about the development issue does that make me a bad person? no its the opposite being concerned about this series and how its being handled is important to me and i come here to express it in the most respectful way possible some people might degrade the series in question those are the "Haters" you probably are talking about and guess what you can find them in pretty much every big title this industry has published but the problem here is those haters are most of the time completely random people that played the game for 30 mins hated something in it and then come to diss on the creators but here its a specific problem many people talk about it that being patrons or non patrons some out of concern for the series and some with ill intentions you cant escape the latter no matter what and if alot of people have the same problem and are expressing it here then you should know the problem is real and can lead to lasting problems in the future if not fixed.
Okay - I'll ask the obvious...

What prompted you to respond to a post from mid-August 2023 on January 2nd, 2024?

Are you actually that far behind on your review of the SG thread, page 1224, or is this something else?

I took a few minutes to reread the surrounding commentary of that part of the thread and I feel Fortuna ღ was spot on with her response.

She spoke well enough about the haters hitting the SG thread in the first two weeks of August (in particular) that a number of us did not feel the need to add in our 'two cents.'

I Am in that group of people who get tired of the trolls/haters who appear just so that they can dis something that they don't like and many of whom seem to have not even played SG's full content (other than skipping through who knows how much of the story before announcing 'What a short update with no sex!')

You bring up and interesting thought... ;):)

Nojiko, 15 or so years ago: "Nika, Nami, your parents died in a horrible accident."

Nojiko, in a future update: "Nika, Nami, meet your mom and dad. They just finished their 15-year prison sentences."

I want to give my two cents.
It's a waste of time to revive a post from August, but it's also a waste of time for that post to be posted in the OP.
(this will undoubtedly bring about more and more of the same situation).
My other penny, no need to feed the trolls.
And I say this even though I do not share the ideas you write in your answer.

Yeah, but as hardware gets more powerful, software gets more resource-hungry to dissipate any initial advantage gained. ;):) (I'm old enough to remember when the dawn of the business computing age promised the "paperless office". Bollocks! It simply led to the generation of vastly more paperwork within a shorter period of time).

On that note, I hope Ocean settles on a faster workflow once he gets new hardware, rather than trying to up the quality of the renders above what he is achieving now. In any event, I hope Ocean's transition to Blender goes smoothly.

I guess technolgy is like a household budget - most often the spending will rise to the level of income capacity. But when the technology has been advancing at a faster than the software, it's almost impossible to utilise except as speed for crunching (which is actually great). In my work, the technological gains in 4 years have vastly outstripped the pretentiousness of the developers, but the market has shrunk, so there's a massive push to use the gains to be efficient, rather than create more content. Most creative industries are realising this refinement is necessary for survival.

It is great how both games are intertwined. I know a lot of people give shit to Ocean for developing two games at the same time, but if he pulls off reveals in each game so that they compliment each other, then it's gonna be a wild and satisfying ride...

(disclaimer: I'm not the biggest fan of WIAB, mainly 'cause I think the MC - William - is such an immature dickhead/meathead. I am loving Miru's rehabilitation in the rework though - she's truly kick-ass and I can't wait to see her peg William in the nuts using her family's secret fighting style one fine day :giggle: ).

The thing that stuck out to me about the latest rev of Daz (4.22) was part of what Ocean said in the below Dev Log:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

My key take away:

So - 157 hours saved in just opening book club scenes - which is almost 4 work weeks of 40 hour weeks... (recognizing that Ocean and his hardware are working far more than 8-hour days but still a Huge time savings).

I have never used Daz, but I understand from a number of devs that the time loading complex scenes burns major daylight (and night-time) hours.

This kind of time savings can definitely help speed development!

Picture those BB games with 10 characters on the court + refs + a few extra people close to court and rendering these BB games becomes Much more feasible - time wise.

This will definitely enhance Season 2's story action and, I believe, the speed of delivery of future chapters.

Cheers!! :coffee:

Exactly - this is a very positive step moving forward. It's not just the time saved, it's also focus kept - being able to do something while you're thinking about it is a massive productivity boost. Processing and loading bars kill creativity, you have to get up and make a coffee, then another. Then you realise you loaded the wrong thing, or a plugin is missing. It's very understanded how great this news is.
