I reckon that when romancing a character, you'll most likely go all out in order to not miss anything. For example, I discovered the specific Kate path by replaying the gallery. Because in my gameplay, it's either I date Bella or I don't. So Kate outright doesn't appear, or she appears as a neutral background girl.
