It's actually his first game, but SG got more traction. From this point both games are progressing leapfrog style, so revelations in one support the other etc.

It is not mandatory, you can experienced SG as its own thing. That said, I do think that playing both enriches them and elevates the stories.

This is mainly for RNasc4444, I was looking on discord because of the new Leia set of renders, and there was this little bit of a conversation - I've condensed out all the banter to just the relevant points:

I saw it too but still can not make sense of it. There is a route where you can fuck Maja, she will betray Vic, but still will not date you ? I suspect there will be moments that things get out of control. It might be that Maja regrets and feels guilty afterwards and makes sure never to let anything happen again. We'll just have to see how it's implemented. There's a non zero chance that Maja could be a LI, just like there's a non zero chance for Ayua. Ocean did say there was a scene with Maja in the update. But Ocean's also adamant it's not a dating sim, so even in these cases, he's got a specific part of the story he'll tell by doing it.
More importantly, it shows that there is conflict planned via a cheating mechanism, that players have to take their choices seriously with the consequences.

I thought Ocean made it pretty clear:
1) Vic is in love with the MC, even if he ignores her and snorting coke from coach Hill's ass.
2) Maja loves Vic and will always put her well-being above her own.
3) Even though Vic will come to terms with the fact that MC won't choose her, she will still be hurt by it.
It's not hard to add two and two, and conclude if Maja is LI or not.
But still, one can never rule out the possibility of drunken quickie and deep regrets and guilt trips afterwards.

I guess. Just that is such a shit situation, for the characters but also for the players. Just can't wrap my head around this idea, I would just not mak her lewadble.
I think that it was always clear that cheating was gonna be a part of the story. But in a different way than it is in WiaB. There cheating is central, here seems more like a spice to some paths.
what got me worried on this Discord conversarions was him saying that nothing was set in stone until the game was finished. Not that he needs it, but I am done with changes, if another major one happens I will be quiting the game.

Yeah, but he's smuggling it for RNasc4444. It's the best way to keep the dude from running around the thread, yelling at everyone, "Ocean's cockgobblers, get your disgusting ugly waifus away from me, where's muh Maja, I want muh Maja!" Nobody wants that shit again. So yeah, a little bit of Bob's premium copium works like a charm.

Most likely, it's a side path, and you can ignore that content, just the same as you'd ignore content from other LI's to keep your preferred path safe or not. The proof is not in what Ocean says (as much as I want Maja LI content) but in what we play. We really have no benchmark to compare what Ocean intended (other than our mental head canon) for future events.
